BRO, I SWEAR I've watched 6 different videos before this trash. Read your comment, smacked the shit out of my camcorder and IT WORKED!!! Sometimes u get better results from the comment section. Thanks for sharing.
You won't believe this but I just fixed my camcorder! After trying everything I could possibly try I got frustrated so I put the tape in, took out the battery, gave it a couple smacks on each side (a little hard out of frustration), then I put the battery back, turned in, and hit play. Voila! Problem solved!! I can't believe it! Hope this helps haha :) Let me know if you give it a shot and works.
I had the same problem. Found out that the bottom 4 screws on the silver side was too tight or I had tightened them too much when I had opened to check. The mechanism was getting jamed due to the 4 screws overtightened. Just loosen those 4 screws and tighten them ever so slightly. The problem will be fixed forever.
I have the same one. With the same problem. The battery is old and no good. I removed the battery and plug it in with the wall charger and behold problem solved. I have inserted many a cassette and the problem has not duplicated. Good luck hope this works for you. Like if you agree.
The fix suggested by @UC6LmrsV29cGwhskxAcn6pnA worked first time, for me. I just tried hitting the bottom with reasonable force. When my wife complained I did the same with the camera. And, Hey Presto! It's working! Thanks so much 🙂
a little too late but it couldbe useful for someone. i tried cleaning the tape heads with 99% isopropyl alcohol but that didn't work... so i left a tape in, took out the batterry and smacked the tape side of the camera a few times. it worked

Feb 14th 2024 i found my old camcorder that i bought in 2007. I stopped using it due to the same problems everyone else has had. So today i decided to try and fix it. After 2hrs of doing most everything i saw on u tube. The last thing left to do was to bang on the side of the tape with hard blows of the palm of my hand. It works again! Thanks everyone for all your ideas.
hey bro, I have the exact same problem. I've tried any of other youtube suggestion for fixing this, but still, mine still not working. Is there any other tips?
@@rafaeli.garcia6562 never mind bro, the white little part on my camcorder was broken so yeah. I have to 3d print those small things. Thanks fir your suggestion!
hey man its been 2 years. Have you solved the problem yet? Im having the same issue with mine. In the sony manual it says the code means theres moisture inside the system and the solution is to leave the tape compartment open for an hour for that moisture to dry up but it didnt work for me so next thing im gonna do is buy a cleaning tape and pop it in and see if that works
Pull the battery and plug into the wall power supply. Only way mine will work. Batteries are old and the charge capacity has probably disappeared. I ordered new batteries and will let you know if that takes care of the issue.
Long story short... i had the same problem as everyone. Took everyone advise and smacked the shit out of the camera and it worked!! THANK YOU lol

Despues de que me compre mi camara sony 4K ya no le di importancia. Creo que volvere a tratar de arreglarla una vez mas.
used to work periodically, now has given me that error for the last time...not working anymore
hahahaha, I plugged it in straight and gave it a swipe next to the cassette with the cassette on and it worked, thanks!!
I have the exact same issue, can't find anything on youtube that works. Have you had any luck?
Just lossen the bottom four screws on the silver side and the mechanism will be free to move. These 4 screws are too tight.
Smacking a little the bottom of the camera solved the issue
How?

What’s the rubber called? I’m missing the rubber on my camcorder... help!
pinch roller
This is common on these camcorders. You need to open the camcorder and re-seat the 3 ribbon cables inside.
Can the USB system be setup in the sony digital video camera recorder DCR TRV285?
Yeah, if you have the right cables. You can even use it to be a web cam. I did that when I had it working.
