    Where did you order that box of stuff from? Who in Japan?? And how long did it take to get to you or how long was you waiting for it? I know I’m full of questions but I’m wanting to get more carp , bluegill, etc. tackle, especially good carp hooks. I know there’s that one Carp place over here, I don’t even remember the name of that place now, they have some good stuff but they are kinda pricey on some things too! For me that’s what I like using too when Carp fishing, spinning reels, a lot of those paylake guys are into baitcasters and short stiff rods, I don’t like that, I like spinning outfits and a kinda long whippy rod, well I guess medium light action rods. Nice little spinning reel you got there too, I like a drag you can hear too, especially when the fish is taking drag and yes to me a good drag is the most important thing in a reel too, regardless of how many bearings a reel has long as it has a good drag and one you can hear! Good deal there buddy! KUTGW! 👍👍🤘✌🏻!

      5 or 6 videos back i made a video just for the best carp hook in the world. It is sold right here in the USA. This is the one thing that u don't need to buy from japan, because u wont find better.
      The rest of the stuff is from Digitaka.com, as i said in the video, but for bluegill or carp u hardly need any of that..

    Thumbs up. Not including shipping, may I ask what you paid for the japanese Vanford? Curious how the $ compare to US pricing. To my eyes, the Vanford long stroke is noticeably wider looking than the Stradic.

    I was desperate to find a person who would make me listen to the sound of the reel. And then I found your video! Thank you so much. I'm looking for a quiet reel without feeling the slightest vibration of the control wheel, that's why I would like more videos to make me hear the noise. Would you be able to try a Daiwa Certate LT?

    I have the 5'4 Eradicator Realfinnese and looking to pair it with either a Vanford or the CI4+. Both would look great on the rod, just stuck between the two and which one would look the best. What size reel would you throw on a 5'4? 1000 or 2000? Contemplated a 500 size Vanford, but I have my gripes with 500 size reels.
    Also, just ordered some of your jigs. Can't wait to give them a go!

    • @ifishcatfish

      1000 size Vanford is the only choice. The old stradic is nice too but Vanford much better. And yes, 500 size reels suck. They only for ice fishing

    • @ifishcatfish

      Any daiwa LT reel. Regal LT, Legalis, Exceller and Fuego is all one and the same reel, with same gears and the same bearings and all parts are interchangeable. They have small differences in seals, handle.. stuff like that that doesn't matter. Buy the one on which u find the best deal.
      Shimano doesn't have good ultralight reels under $100. They all too heavy. Good, but heavy

    Hello and thank you very much for the video. I'm very curious, will you change your mind after you have warm up the spinning reel first, because now the feeling is not relevant to the warm Stradic, of course! The second thing is - what do you say about the Daiwa 19 Ballistic FW in direct comparison with the Vanford? Thank you for your time and stay healthy!

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  3 роки тому +2

      1. I have not changed my mind after fishing the reel. I actually have the other size too - the 2000S size. It is even worse. Try to get the bigger size - feels smoother and better overall.
      2. that reel is just an overpriced Tatula. I dont like the drag sound and drag feel on Tatulas - i have a few of them already. I have so many high end reels that it is silly for me to buy another chinese tatula. Nothing wrong with the reel. About the same value as Vanford or Luvias actually.. i just don't like that drag sound.

    I was waiting for your opinion in this v 20 Luvias Lt? Also do you prefer the Vanford over your Theory and 15 Luvias?

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  4 роки тому +2

      I don't like the Luvias 2020 at all. I don't even use it any more. Too much resistance, drag doesn't sound nice.. it just feels like exceller. Even looks like exceller. I like this reel more but overall i am a little disapointed. Great reel... but not the airy feel that the Vanquish has, and that i was expecting. Also more free play and more noise than Vanquish. Objectively it is better than the Theory, but I love the drags on my Theory reels and they are some of my favorite reels. I would still probably enjoy using them more than this one, but this is just subjective, not objective. Also 15 Luvias is not any worse than this in my opinion. Maybe gears not quite as smooth.. whatever. But resistance and pleasure is very high. Overall my opinion on Theory and old Luvias is don't buy then today at full price - that is stupid - but if u find some good deal on them - GO FOR IT. They are still amazing reels, even today.

    This is not about the Vanford but the design of Shimano vs Daiwa. Shimano has this extended slanted rim while Daiwa simply has a more traditional rim . This means that one can load line close to the actual diameter of the spool while the Shimano can't. Any sense if either of this design actually impact casting distance? On my Daiwas, I load my line almost right to the very edge of the diameter of the spool and I have no problem with lines etc. Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  3 роки тому +1

      I think if everything else was the same Daiwa would cast farther. But its not. Shimano has worm oscillation and much better line lay than Daiwa. MUCH BETTER. Also this particular reel has long spool, which reduces the outgoing approach angle between the line and the spool lip. So at the end of the day they cast about the same in my opinion, or difference is too small to matter. If u use jumpy line like me, this polyester line, it stays on the shimano spool better for sure.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  3 роки тому +2

      This is not a reel problem. If your drag is too lose tighten it. Otherwise u can get rid of all the twist with a single cast. Just cast as far as u you can, then hold the line very tight between your thumb and index finger and reel all the line. All the twist will stay in front of your fingers. When you reel the lure all the way to the tip, just hold the rod upside down and the lure will spin backwards and get rid of all the twist in front of your fingers.
      This is NOT a reel problem though.

      @@ifishcatfish i bought my c3000hg january this year. so the 2500 will fit. my follow up question is, do i need to add or remove washers everytime i change spools? will i have a problem with line lay?

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  2 роки тому

      no, u never have to change washers during spool swaps. The spools have identical height. Although it is possible for the line lay to be different, but that will be because your line is different. The line lay is different for braid and for mono as they have different diameter and the coils fit differently next to each other. But the line lay will be different even if you use two identical spools.

    The vanford has got long stroke spool, it’d add a little distance for sure, versus the stradic ci4+ u may have better torque n distance along with better line roller bb seal.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  3 роки тому +1

      its 1 mm longer in 2000 size and 2mm longer in 2500 size. If u think that would make a difference i have a bridge that i want to sell you. The long spool reduces the resistance from the lip of the spool, which is very minimal to begin with. The resistance from the guides of the rod is 10X bigger and 10X more important. If u want to cast far, look at the guides of your rod, and how thin your line is. This extra 1mm long spool wont do nothing

    For UL the Vanford comes in a 1000 model with 5.1:1 ratio and a 2000 HG model with 6.1:1 ratio. If I fish mostly spinners and spoons from shore, which model would be better for me? I always thought the high gear ratio reel would be better since the line retrieval is more but you mentioned that you don't like high speed gear reels so I'd appreciate your suggestion. Thanks!

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  4 роки тому +2

      the size of reel depends mostly on the rod, for me. I want to have a good balance. If you have a cheaper rod, or expensive rod that is tip heavy, the 2500 will feel better. If you have a very light rod, go for 2000. It is good to know for any rod what is the perfect weight with which it feels balanced. If u have some other reels, put them on that rod just to feel the balance. Once u like the balance, check the weight of the reel. Then get the right size.
      Low gear ratio makes everything feel better. Especially for spinners Low would be pretty good

    Interesting, Vanford has the exact same rotor and bail assembly as Vanquish and many of the same parts internally, including the main idle and worm gears, the resistance should be exactly as Vanquish... Possibly just more grease in that one than the Vanquish? I will say though shimano do often "purposely sabotage" some of their reels so they dont intrude on the high end stuff, so it is possible the "vanquish rotor" in the Vanford is actually a heavier version and not the same at all... Who knows, still nice vid. Improvements though are definitely more than just the main gear, the entire platform is the high end one and many parts are straight from Vanquish and Stella, the old one may have low resistance but it is poorly built and unrefined, the Vanford is many many levels ahead in terms of quality and refinement, definitely a big improvement.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  4 роки тому

      The vanquish has titanium bail. No way they put titanium bail in this. Also vanquish is made in japan. It is silent. This one is made in malaysia. Missing 4 bearings. Handle is heavier. There is quite a few differences.

    • @cozadeluca3045
      @cozadeluca3045 4 роки тому

      @@ifishcatfish It actually does have a titanium bail, also when it says "Made in Japan" it really means in the case of Vanquish and TP "assembled in Japan". The parts for Vanquish come from many places with all proprietary parts shared with Vanford and Stradic FL also coming from the Malaysia factory, they are just simply assembled and inspected in Japan with the 1 part actually from Japan (the frame) for the highest level of refinement and accuracy between parts possible, and the reason Vanquishes are always perfect but Vanfords will vary, but they are still the same parts.... And yes of course there are differences, but the things that determine the resistance between the 2 reels are the same, a bushing in the rotor nut and 1 less bearing on the worm gear are not enough to make a difference there, so I suspect its something else at play. The Vanford does also have a coating on its main gear unlike Vanquish (though it is the same gear), that could possibly cause some friction there, combined with a potentially heavier version of the same rotor as Vanquish making the higher resistance? Its either something like that, or your reel simply has more/different grease...

    • @cozadeluca3045
      @cozadeluca3045 4 роки тому

      @@ifishcatfish But still, as compared to the Ci4+, Vanford is definitely massively improved and shares far more with Vanquish than that Ci4, even things down to the clutch and oscillator block in Vanford come directly from he Stella FJ and are such quality parts, nothing in the Ci4+ came from the previous Stella or even Vanquish, so to have this category reel now based so heavily on the higher end offerings even if it is put together slightly cheaper with less accuracy is a pretty damn good deal and amazing Value for money.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  4 роки тому +2

      I didn't know Vanford has titanium bail. Why doesn't shimano point that out?
      I got some information that the main gear bearings in the vanford are much cheaper than the same bearings in the Vanquish. These are the biggest, most important bearings. This can also play a role.
      Also, assembled in Japan is in my book a significant item. I bought the last nissan maxima assembled in Japan, and also the next generation, which was all japanese parts, but assembled in USA, and despite being a newer car, the new Maxima felt cheaper and had all kinds of rattles in the doors and dashboard.
      Either way i can promise you the two reels do not feel that close. It is not some really small difference that can be simply assembly

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  4 роки тому +3

      this is why i had such high expectations of this reel - amazing parts on paper. But i can promise you that other than smoother gears, i can't feel any improvement. There is a significant amount of free play in the handle of the Vanford - disappointing. And the resistance.... very close but again, if i have to call a winner, the old reel has less resistance.

    there always was chroom in reels. Only reel you like and compare all to the Vanquish, it dont matter if you buy the Stella because Vanquish is boring black but good reel. I judge reels in how the perform and priced in the way you fish with them in differend settings. Sound of the drag is just piece of metal with the spool as soundboard, but you have dragsound reellovers thats for sure.
