Hahaha, got me with that intro. Thanks for the show, Tom
Roy Keane reckoned than Rice couldn't play well because "it's like he had to babysit TTA" ( because TTA should NOT have been in midfield)
Re Southgate not getting enough time, like you said, that applies to EVERY international manager, but also an astute manager might look at the style of play that most of his players are accustomed to and use them in the way they are most comfortable with. Most of England's top players are used to playing some variation of the gegenpress / tiki taka styles under the likes of Guardiola, Klopp and Arteta, it would make sense therefore to use a form of that style of play. But instead under Southgate we look like a Mourinho team
Was hoping we could’ve involved Real Oviedo in the Emirates Cup. Santi back at the carpet would’ve been epic.
We could stumble into the next round and even fall into a final but Southgate has stopped me wanting to watch England play.
I got up at 2am Eastern Standard Time, Australia, to watch that rubbish put together by Southgate. He has not got a clue. He’s simply an arselicking, compliant follower to the powers that run football in England. The opposite of Brian Clough, which is why the FA never picked him for the job.
Same. Spain Italy In comparison was worth watching.
Saka nightmare nah mate, Rice was poor, Saka looked sharper, what did Bowen do when he came on?
Did I watch a different game am sure it was Bellingham and Trent that were poor than Rice. Seemed Rice had to cover them both
@@DarrenTaylor-be5hf be fair though, Rice has a left side bias and no left side outlet. Foden doesn’t stay wide and Trippier has no left foot if he eventually manages to get up the pitch. Rice has no choice but to play the ball sideways or backwards.
I felt sorry for Rice he looked pretty annoyed. Parking the bus again is beyond a joke.
@@DarrenTaylor-be5hf apologies for having an opinion.
@@DarrenTaylor-be5hfwots your problem m8, he's sharing his opinion just as much as you are. Just because he's an arsenal fan it doesn't make his opinion any less valid than yours. You're sounding like a typical salty spurs fan rn
Morning Tom! Morning TGT community, wherever you may be!
Great show Tom, there is nothing about VG to Arsenal in the Swedish media outlet yet. So I doubt this one is advanced but I would rather wait a season and try and get Isak.
I wish the journalists would all double source before releasing their stories!
Hey Tom great tribute last night to super Kev, big up Sophie Mike and the Judge, great stories for the great man.
32:49 Tom you smashed the Roy Kent voice from ted lasso there mate 🤣
From a neutral view about England yes Southgate is conservative he even tried pick a different team however the problem no one is pointing out here is that certain individuals are playing for themselves #9 #10 plays for themselves. As great as a player jude is he overdoes stuff and its frustrating watching him ,jordan pickford is what arteta hated about ramsdale not keeping calm instead of hoofing it forward. Harry kane dropping into foden and jude spaces its soo much wrong but that's a coaching thing as much as it a personnel problem
I would much rather sign a young dynamic winger like Nico Williams vs the swede. He would strike fear in every defender he faced
Surely it was worth a mention that Morten Hjulmand, the Danish goalscorer, is a lifelong Arsenal fan. He even has the Arsenal cannon tattooed on his shoulder and admits his career dream is to one day play for Arsenal.
He's already done well in his career and would blossom under a coach like Arteta. He'd make a great back up defensive midfielder to replace Elneny in the squad.
I like Göykeres, but as a Swede I want to remind people that he is not a better footballer than Havertz or even Jesus. He is also currently injured and has recently undergone surgery
Dang, that horrible to replace jesus with other injury prone player.
Nico Williams for 100m please!! I love martinelli but this kid is rare!!
I totally agree that England are playing poorly and boring. But I think you’re neglecting the danish performance. Of course England didn’t play well, but it was also due to Denmark pressing them every where on the pitch and simply wanting to win the match more than England did. It was clear to see the difference between a team that is willing to fight for every little bit of grass on the pitch and a team that did not play to near their potential because of the lack of team spirit and togetherness even though they are way ahead of nearly every nation in the euros regarding to player material on paper. It is clear to see in this case that football is about being a team, when a team of prem rejects and players from mid table teams, outplays a team full of superstars from the best clubs in the world.
I don't see Edu signing Gyokeres.. we might end up getting Morata on a free
I’m not a England or any Euro fan but want the Arsenal players do well
I think your worst player on the pitch is coach.
Frankfurt pitch has always been cutting up watching bundesliga games
I would love onana because as we saw with rice yesterday he needs a break to be honest thats like for like in my opinion
It is as if Southgate needed the FA to sack him rather than quit. He has nothing left after the world cup. Still think you are over doing the "the players fully got them to heights ", the manager and coach has played his part, he is not a decent technical coach but he appeared to have fostered a team spirit there, something some of the previous coaches was not good at.
So far in this tournament, Southgate is the main problem, I do admit that.
Spot on. Southgate was, is and will always be at best, mediocre. He has at his hands the best group of English players ever assembled and he shows his ineptness by misusing almost all of them.
Very unfair comments about Southgate which shows a lack of understanding about international management...he is the most successful England manager since Alf Ramsey bar none, and to say if we win the Euros if it will be in spite of him is a cop out and very lazy journalism.
We can agree to disagree mate. But you didn’t need to be disrespectful
@@TheGoonerTalkTVthe "in spite off" (for the last 2 tournaments) was very strong though. That's as if you dismissed anything he has done during his time as part of the England set up......as you say, words mean something.
That almost sounds like those arsenal fans that give Arteta no credit on what he has done.....
@@TheGoonerTalkTV my apologies; I’m a fan of what you do but I felt your comments towards Southgate were disrespectful, and I generally find the media led criticism of Southgate over the top and bordering on bullying so specifically my apology is for directing that disappointment with the media solely towards you.
@@olubamidele5862 Do you think people should have the right to be critical if it can be supported?
@@TheGoonerTalkTV is that a rhetorical question…criticism can be constructive without ridiculing someone who has done more than any of us could dream about in the game. My rhetorical question to you is whether or not you think Southgate has achieved more than any other England manager since Sir Alf Ramsey?
Nico hasn't convinced me at all. I prefer Olise.
Hi
Did you watch Spain vs Italy?
In the background. Is this going to be a Havertz thing aha
@@TheGoonerTalkTV I just wanted to ask what did you think of him?
As I say it was in the bg. I know what I think of him watching every game for us and becoming our CF.
If one game (whatever it is you’d point to) was the argument, it’s very weak
@@TheGoonerTalkTV I'm talking about Nico, who are you talking about?
Well first comment says Havertz. You then say I wanted to ask what you thought of him?
Now you mention Nico… you’re not fooling me mate 😂
Jorgi and Partey doesn't have the athleticism required, Rice was cooked by Laimer and Goretzka because Jorgi was nowhere to be seen. If Partey stays then we need Onana, if he leaves then Onana plus Fofana
I'm sorry but I know Southgate isn't perfect, and yesterday was dross. But you're so wrong about him not being a factor in doing well at previous tournaments.
We've had incredible players before (Rooney, Ferdinand, Gerrard, Scholes, Cole, Owen etc) and couldn't even get out of the group stage, and that's if we even qualified at all!!
Southgate created a positive atmosphere around an England team that for so long looked like they didn't want to be there. I've been watching England for nearly 40yrs and I'm amazed how easily people forget how awful we were before Southgate.
Yep, the original "golden generation" was the real chances of doing something on the international scene but the managers struggled to get them playing as a team.
If milan wants kiwior, they have to pay 50M
The only player that is better in England squad is Harry Maguire
England has always been boring under Southgate, the media props up players, he doesn't have to start every star that doesn't fit.
Imagine the noise levels if England wins...may what happened post 1966 endure forever 💪😜😂🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️
Southgate is done. Take him off the barbie England!!!
What do you have to show that England will win the Euro?
Who said they will win it?
I think Tom was saying "you never know", just like how not many would of predicted Denmark winning the Euros after not really doing anything amazing at the start of the tournament.
And not only we lost win in last second, you couldnt win poor Denmark. Is this some kind of conspiracy against Slovenia......kidding
31:35 - Woman's football isn't as good to watch as the men's game, it's getting better but has a long way to go. While I'm a big supporter of the women's game (because I am one) I think it gets the right amount of coverage, it's not there yet to get more. However they need to avoid both the Arsenal Men and Arsenal Woman playing important games at the same time, that was really annoying when they did that last season.
It’s getting good coverage it’s sadly still not supported as much as it needs to be.
So, it is your opinion that I am sexist because I think the women's game is sub-standard.
Good one dude.
I don't watch the MLS because it is also sub-standard... I must be super sexist and deluded, non?
Or is it my opinion?
American Gunner here.
I've been a supporter since the early 90s and as a consequence have always followed the English National Team.
I say this with all due respect and humility - the FA sucks at football.
Every other English thing is top shelf - best of the best.
The passion, the derbys, the tradition, the PLAYERS - since I've been watching have always been shoulder to shoulder with any other country.
Why no trophies?
The FA.
Every English manager in my memory has been an anchor on the team's chances.
Lack of bravery, imagination, innovation, fire, passion... it's appalling in its predictability.
This English side should be tearing through Denmark with even competent management.
Sadly typical - ANOTHER wasted generation of world class talent.
Southgate is trash. Now watch how quickly he gets hired after he's sacked by the FA for being "the greatest English manager since blah blah blah.."
Sad
Cannot watch England anymore. Plenty of possession but they go back, sideways then back again, so predictable. No energy, no tactics, no bloody idea. Get Southgate out now.
So called star studded england team is so so poor to watch.
That is no way a "star studded" team. The world cup squad had more "star players". This squad is propped up by the "aura" of Bellingham and that's it.
@@TGFLdn24 most of the captains from epl teams and the best players are in that squad, it doesn't get any more star studded than that.
@@omarkhanday3956 being a captain of a club squad does not mean "star studded" when it comes to international football. Question is, which player in this current squad is the absolute best in their club side? And which has been praised the most over the world for what they have done last season on the top stage. Bellingham yes, Foden (up coming but still not there), Saka (maybe yes). We had way more in the world cup squad.
@@TGFLdn24 rice, kane, walker have also had great seasons overall. Are you saying eng team is average or below average for them to be playing as they are
@@omarkhanday3956 great players, but Rice is vital, Walker is brilliant, kane's record speaks for itself, just cannot see this as a "star studded" team , as I said before, your definition of that term maybe different to mine. Star studded to me is like Real Madrid, Spain a few years ago, France a few years ago. The England team in the world cup had more "stars" than this current squad.
Never heard of an off the ball and a on the ball player. What a load of nonsense, you are on and off the ball in various parts of the game.
