The Modettes❤️lightyears ahead of their time
Really represantive of their time, I'd say. But really good too.
I loved them, can't believe it's 40 odd years ago..I still think and behave like 21 or something 🤔
Lead singer is Swiss-born Ramona Wilkins-Carlier, Teacher at Hasmonean High Screwel, London. Education was at Middlesex University, with a PGCE in Secondary Education and Teaching, 2001 - 2002, and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Policy. She has repeatedly turned down requests for her to appear on Britain's Got Talent because of "the friggin' kids!" she has in her life as a teacher. Anyway, it's weird seeing Ramona today and back then side by side. It's almost as if they were the same person.
Bass player is Jane Crockford, former member of Bank of Dresden. She also sang some lead vo. After a lengthy battle with cancer, Jane passed away at South Lake Regional Health Center, with her family by her side on Wednesday, September 23, 2009, in her 57th year.

I look at Jane's eyebrows and I can't stop thinking how surrealist she is (surrealist in the strict sense of the word, as much as Dali).
Guitarist Kate Korus, who had previously played with the all-female bands the Castrators and also Slits, was originally from the States, although she'd lived in England since 1974. Bassist Jane Crockford was a teenage runaway whose claim to fame was sharing a squat with Sid Vicious and Johnny Rotten. Vocalist Ramona Carlier, a former ballet student from Geneva, Switzerland, had apparently moved to London due to the lack of punk culture in her home country. Prior to joining Mo-Dettes, Ramona was the original singer of another band Kleenex / Liliput, under the pseudonym Regula Sing. And drummer June Miles-Kingston met Kate on the set of the Sex Pistols' film The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle, where they were both employed as musicians.

Yeah ,.... i am yet to be convinced that Ramona and Regula are one and the same. . Although there is some facial resemblance... their singing and dancing styles are very different. Two great bands though. @@DexBatfink
As much as I dig Madness, and have since I was a young sprout in the 80s, I really wish there had been more of the Mo-Dettes to see here. Nonetheless, it was cool to see some period live footage of them in the opening, and not just another music video.
I only came here for the Mo-Dettes. Screw Madness!!

Good to see The Mo Dettes, I saw them supporting Madness at Glasgow Apollo in 1980.
What a fantastic upload of The Mo-Dettes... followed them to every gig I could ever get to, oh yeah, saw madness a few times too!

I remember Ramona very well. She always wore a dress or a skirt while all the other girls on the scene wore jeans or leather trousers. Best looking chick on the scene hands down.
My pleasure to see them a few times. Too kooky for a pop audience, too poppy for a punk crowd.
I still got white mice and the Kleenex EP when Ramona was Regula Sing , on vinyl.

Possibly! I think Blank Generation by Richard Hell could also be the Stray Cat's inspiration. On the topic of Kray Twins, I think the guitar work between verses sounds a whole lot like Seven Nation Army as well.
