Fantastic video guys!! I met Larry this August at Andy Myers Lodge on Eagle lake when he presented about his adventures tracking the radio tagged muskies. This guy knows more about muskies than all the musky "experts" put together. And, what a nice guy!! He is willing to share any and all of his wisdom that it has taken him a lifetime to amass to anyone willing to listen. Keep casting Larry, you are truly a legend. Keep these videos coming Robbie and Lee. Great start to this series!

Rarely do I listen to someone talk for along time but I was all ears and even rewinded to make sure I got some facts straight. I can kinda respect the one guy trying to do it to help the area but definitely like to know the truth. I could've give it two thumbs up so I gave it two comments.

im very glad he mentioned my home waters the Ottawa river, an amazing muskie fishery with some high pressure spots but most of it is barelly fished. if anyones interested in fishing the Ottawa for potential 50+ inchers contact *Mark Thorpe in Quebec or John Anderson of the Ottawa River Muskie Factory*

Larry! I love this man. He's stayed at my house a couple of times, and we've spent hours and hours and hours and hours talking about these old record fish. And I've bored him half to death with all kinds of mathematical calculations...and even wrote some software to estimate musky weight, with his help.
Simply put, there is not one person on this planet who has expended as much effort as Larry Ramsell has, in pursuit of Esox masquinongy. The man is a legend. Period.

I saw this video and spoke with the person who weighed Ken O'Brian's Moon river fish in 1988. I told him what Larry had said and he laughed in my face. I know the feeling of fishing for musky for 50yrs without a confirmed 50 pounder. I think Larry is simply jellous.

One of the finest segments on Muskie fishing I have seen since UA-cam started. Great idea guys and well done! My fishing gang began catch and release with the advent of the VHS video camera, many fish we do not even take out of the water any more particularly big fish. The measurement is just a number. Who cares. We are really there for the experience on the water with great friends while chasing the iconic fish. (have both volumes Larry's books and so glad for what he has done for Muskie fishing)

I caught and released a big red drum between 57-63 in Charleston SC around 2008, state record size or bigger and most the people I tell don't want to believe it, it even angers some that I've caught such a Giant and they haven't. The red drum is our trophy fish. People around here don't even lie about fish that big. It's like the equivalent of a 60 inch musky. Some of the formulas are surprisingly accurate. I love a good fish tail. We need people like Larry Ramsell. Much respect . Excellent video.

Old double that in size, remember a fish continues to grow almost to any size if conditions are correct, I bet the new world record will be a sterile fish, probably big enough to bite your head off.

Great show!! I've fished Eagle as a kid ,I had a walleye on and it got hit and killed (walleye) but you could see how wide of bite it had , no record but nice one .30 in limit at the time ,the second they hit 30 in they were killed if caught, I didnt like that because the mount in the lodge was as long as an oar. A couple years ago I went to Vermilion and I knew it was stocked with leech lake spotted but the one I caught was barred and the old lodge mount was barred, it could have been stocked ,My catch didn't get measured but it was about 46-47in , put up a heck of a fight , it wasn't a 50 but it was sure a pretty fish , not a mark on it. I noticed something there you discussed, people would pound the shallows by islands or shore but I marked a few big fish in 20-24 ft in main body where I also marked lots of cisco? suspended in cloudsof them bottom had millions of baby perch some of these may have been bigger but didn't catch any of size just wanted to see what they wereBut that was a great show , I wish there were more of these type.

Awesome video guys! Muskies Canada has a fair bit of data on tracking Muskies with transmitters. With today's technology and increase in Musky fisherman i believe the world record will be broken.

I was just witness to a 57.5" caught last week and it weighed mid 40lbs. I live here on Georgian Bay. The next world record will come from here or the Saint Lawrence i believe.

A 61-1/2 inch fish was caught by accident electrofishing at Mille Lacs in 2019 if that is correct. Not a super chunky fish though.

Wish we would have heard his take on the st Lawrence musky record. Supposedly 69lbs 15oz at 64.5 inches long.

There is a story in the Western UP of Michigan that tells of a Musky weighing 100 lbs caught in a gill net in Lake Superior in 1899. Supposedly a photo of the fish hung in a Ranger Office for about 10 years before the building burned down.

Mind blown! I've been to Hayward many times and seen those in person, spent time with John Dettloff & had no idea!
