Weirdly, Maggie Jones and Kirkbride were born on the same day, just twenty years apart, 21st June 1934 and 1954. Hope 'Mum' and 'daughter' are having a ball in heaven. Miss them though
It has been over a decade and a half since the actress Maggie Jones who played Blanche Hunt in Coronation Street passed away in real life and her character was killed off screen and truthfully the show has not been the same without either of them since
rita_de_peeves it'll be against the law for anyone to speak the cold hard truth soon. Offend someone these days and you'll find yourself arrested for hate crime.
Coronation Street has never been the same since Blanche died. The soap was always known for its humour and down-to-earth drama, now it’s too dark and dramatic
Poor Deirdre, Ken, Peter & Leanne - Trust old Blanche to humiliate & remind them their past colourful lives in the presence of house guests (Simon's grandparents on his late mum Lucy's side)! 😂😂😂😂
Blanche just told it like it was, that's what made her so funny. Back in the old days you had Len Alf and Annie Walker who pretty much threatened anyone who dared tell the truth. Len and alf were a pair of bent councillors paid to sit on their assess all day and take backhanders, Annie ran the pub ' not owned it' yet could afford to live the high life
In my opinion, Blanche was the best Corrie character to appear on the show so far. The way she tells everyone what she thinks of them is comedy gold. Its not like that now. The only "funny bit" is when stupid kirk is just so thick he doesnt know his name barely amd the one that plays. Its not funny now at all compared to the good old days.
FURST THING'S FURST I'M A REALIST, DROP MY GLASS AND GET THE WHOLE FAMILY REELIN, AND I STILL HAVE SHARP TONGUE BANTA etc etc etc. My recreation of Fancy so far
How they all kept a straight face during that scene is a miracle. Good old Blanche 😂
I can’t imagine the amount of takes they had to do until they could run through it without anyone dying of laughter
Apparently they had to have laughing time
"I nearly died of the SHAAAME!"
I nearly died of laughter! 😅

I wish Blanche had met Evelyn. Imagine them two together. 😂😂😂
She never has to be drunk to insult people she did every day sober
This was from her last recorded episode I believe. What a way to go out 😂

Best Corrie character
Coronation Street has never been the same since Blanche died. The soap was always known for its humour and down-to-earth drama, now it’s too dark and dramatic

I think I'm going to piss my pants
Katie Munro go to the toilet
Still some of the best writing on a soap ever lol you’d not get away with it nowadays but god damn Blanche was epic
classic scene !
Blanche's a wee madam
I think Blanche was the best character in Coronation Street history after Ena Sharples and Elsie Tanner. Something about these older women....
Poor Deirdre, Ken, Peter & Leanne - Trust old Blanche to humiliate & remind them their past colourful lives in the presence of house guests (Simon's grandparents on his late mum Lucy's side)! 😂😂😂😂
Proper speaking of the mind, that.
Legendary lady always remembered.
Brilliant Blanche much missed

I Blanche and Dedre
Miss Blanche, I try to say it how it is like her :(
Am I really? Least I don't live in fairyland like you do lol. I miss Blanche

Blanche got the better of Annie, although not scathingly like this.
