I had a ‘91 CR125 with HPP exhaust and 6 speed. I loved that bike! It had plenty of power and was very nimble on the trails in the woods. Sand pit too! You could really throw that bike around. It was such a blast to ride!

I raced one of these when I was 17 and 18 years old. I absolutely loved this bike.
The 04 had the RC valve Honda scraped it for 05. The 04 (RC Valve) had massive bogging issues that Honda couldn’t even figure out. They was notorious for fouling plugs no matter what level of rider with correct jetting. By far one of the best handling bikes I ever rode. So the fact this motor isn’t the 04 RC it’s a good thing with that chassis it will be amazing to throw around! Lovely bike
2005 have the RC valve aswell 2004-2007
@@CJRSBK that’s right it was the electronically controlled power valve they canned in 05 which put a stop to the bogging and failing plug issues
@@nickcarter3231 yes you are right, I have a 2004 version with the electronic valve, it is impossible to have correct carburetion especially the midrange really too weird, but I still like this bike because it is unbreakable and it is my first Honda, a friend of mine has a 2007 version, the noise has nothing to do on the track. The gap is widening. I'm going to try to pass it on a bench to get a clear picture.
@@Kevr.137 run a NGK BR8ES. Should solve your problems. I remember that’s what I had to resort too but it worked
@@nickcarter3231 On this bike, I never ride with an "Eg" type spark plug, only "es" type spark plugs. I have already had these spark plugs on for a while. 😎

What the hell? That bike doesn’t sound like a 125. It has a deep, powerful tone right above idle. It looks fast as hell also.
If I had abundant extra money, I would buy every Kaplan Honda. The attention to detail and quality is amazing in his restorations.
Power band in this engine is lower besides low low, you can get power in the top end but not for long.
Man, I love Honda. My last one was a 93, but this one is a beaut! Hell it sounds like a 250 at low RPM's. Would love to throw a leg over that thing... thanks guys

I have a 2004 with the RC power valve. Never had carb issues or power issues except for down low low. Mid range is great and top is great at first but then signs off too early. Best handling bike I’ve ever rode.

Cr125 and 250s my favorite bikes grew up on them still have an 03 125

I love my 04 cr125. Absolute blast to ride, goes well, handles well and with some v force reeds, fmf gold series pipe with shorty and some jetting its even better. I don't think that one has a 04 engine though as it has no rc valve.. Either that or some head trickery, either way nice bike
It's a one year bike with the only year of the electronic rc valve. 05-07 still was stamped rc valve but went back to mechanical power valve. The rc valve design worked better on the 250 but was a miss on these 04 125s.

Yo Kap, what carb is on this one? My 1997's PJ sucked so much I put a PWK on it, but its difficult to get to where I want it with the bigger 38mm PWK on it. Bout to shim the govenor about 3mm to help with PV timing. Nice bike!
Nothing sounds as good as a 125 2stroke
It is more fun somtimes riding a smaller bike that you can keep pinned. What was/is the price on this bike?
i have an 04 as well. absolutely rips but the jetting is hard to get right here in AK.

I thought the 2004 had the RC valve? If I’m not mistaken it was only for the 2004 model.
Google it. It sucked. This one is upgraded with the better 03 cylinder

Hey Kap, I’ve got the same bike, same pipe. Never managed to get it sounding that crisp.
I’ve leaned out the jetting from factory specs to 30 pilot, 3rd clip and 390 main.
Have you guys gone even leaner on this one?
Get the jet block gasket from JD Jetting. It fixes the Mikuni TMX38 and keeps your pilot and main jet circuits fully separated. Stock gasket gets distorted from fuel cause it’s all rubber. JD gasket is rubber coated metal and will stay flat.
Also it’s only like $5 or $10.
@@cbh148 thanks bro, I did look at the jet block gasket when I 1st got the bike n it was in good shape. Like you say it’s only a few bucks so I’ll replace it now anyway
