When my grandad died, my mom and aunts went to the funeral home with my grandma. Grandma had to sign her name, full name. She spelled her middle name "Lavon." My mom and aunts worried shewas so overcome she forgot how to spell her name. You see, she always spelled it "LaVonne." That's when she had to tell them she hated the way her middle name was spelled, so shejust told everyone the way she liked it spelled and why she spelled my aunt's name JoAnne. She just thought it was cooler

There's a legend on my mom's side of the family that my uncle, her youngest brother, might actually be her secret son. He told my brother and I that during a thanksgiving get-together, the first when we were old enough to drink and smoke with him.
Honestly I wouldn't be too surprised if it were true, he and I look weirdly alike and have a lot of similar quirks and interests. So we started calling him Bruncle from then on.

not me but my friend's real story. Ever since she was a kid there were rumors about her being an adopted child. She was my classmate and practically all of my classmates heard about this story and adults speculated about who her real mother was. It was believed that some girl who lived in our area got pregnant before marriage and left a her child in front of a local hospital where my friend's mother worked. So she supposedly ended up adopting the child. Such rumours went around our area, my friend might have heard about them before but assumed it was just speculations as her mother assured her she was her real daughter. Until some acquintance shout out to her face that she was adopted. My friend went to her relatives and started asking questions about these allegations and they told her a story that was quite different from what was speculated to be the truth about her adoption and being left in front a hospital by a young girl. It turns out that her father was cheating with another woman when he was younger and the woman was his friend's wife. When she gave birth to my friend, her father's mom arranged so that the child will live in her father's family and gave the woman a house in return. My friend recalled that she knew this woman from her childhood, she and her parents would always visit her because they were still friends with her parents. She confronted her mom about the story with another woman sering her father and it was indeed true. She was born to her father's lover and was taken to live with his family.

Apparently no such thing as "the OSI"...there was an OSS 9Office of Strategic Services) during WWII...but the Secret Service was never part of it. My parents were super strict about my sister not dating because only men are allowed to sleep around. She started dating a guy from school, I felt bad about how she was treated by our parents because she’s a girl and kept quite about it.
When she was 16 she ended up getting pregnant. Our parents were mad, tried to force her into getting an abortion but she refused. When she introduced her boyfriend and his family my mom went white. A few days after I overheard my mom and the boyfriends dad talking. Turns out they had an affair years ago that resulted in my little sister. They agreed to never say anything as it would destroy all 3 families, I never said anything either.
They’re married with 4 kids now.

This was a real shock as my grandmother was a preachy Uber religious (speaking in tongues, wild church dancing, never cut her hair, long dresses, bloomers and hour long praying before each meal) type of person. This one just came out at the beginning of Covid. Apparently my father had been cheating his entire marriage with so many women he could not count. My mom always told a story where we were moving and me and my sister were terribly sick (2&4) but never included my dad. That day he had told her about the cheating and had given her an STD. It is also the cause of a life threatening disease for her. She tried to stay married to him until me and my siblings were in college but she’s had enough. this is all still continuing to be an issue and I haven’t spoken to him in months.

My great great grandfather is Jewish. My great grandfather is not and was the only child to not receive an inheritance in their family. So we think he was born of an affair and the husband knew but kept it covered up.
Also my grandmother on that same side of the family was born and raised by her teenage single mom. She was told her father was a French man who died before she was born. My dad has tracked down relatives based on his DNA and it looks like my 17 year old great grandmother was knocked up by a married man in his 40’s who literally left town around the time she would have been finding out.
I also am the oldest of my siblings and didn’t realize I was a marriage baby until my dad just kinda said “I’m sure you figured out by now that mom was knocked up before the wedding” I had not, it never even occurred to me.

Dad was married before he met my mom. They "married" and immediately had three kids in three years. I was born about 10 years after they "married". My older siblings knew, but I didn't until after both parents had died, that mom and dad weren't really married until after they had the first three kids! He was still married to his first wife but mom (who wasn't the brightest bulb in the pack) thought that their second wedding was just a formality because something was wrong with the original paperwork! I also found that dad probably had a few other kids running around the country since he didn't seem able to "keep it in his pants"! I was really young but I vaguely remember a friend of his showed up at our house with a shotgun one night.... My siblings told me that dad had been "overly friendly" with the friend's teenage daughter. Now I know why we stopped going to their farm like we used to!
