I knew this song before I've even known the Disney movie. My grandma was a big fan of classical opera and ballet and when I was still a little boy, she took me with her to see the ballet "The Sleeping Beauty", where this song is actually from. Just to make this clear, as some people seem confused: The title of the video is The Sleeping Beauty but not as a reference to the Disney movie, that's the name of the ballet this song is from. I can still remember that ballet because it was totally strange to see a large bunch of people (the entire ensemble was huge, with up to 30 dancers at once on stage) perform a story only by dancing and nobody ever talks or sings. I knew in advance what a ballet is but I had never seen one before. I had seen musicals before but there people used to also talk and sing. To be honest, I've only seen three ballets in my entire life since then, all three as a kid: This one, Swan Lake and the Nutcracker, which all three are from Tchaikovsky. And I really didn't like Swan Lake as compared to the other two it's partly grim and partly boring as there's way less "spectacle" on stage.
Me too ! 😂 When I heard it, I thought to myself "Hey... this is the music of Sleeping Beauty ! But yet the Tom and Jerry cartoon came out long before the Disney movie?" So I did my research, and I came up with this video!
Not at all, as he wrote that waltz for a ballet. Which ballet? "The Sleeping Beauty", as this story was already on stage long before Disney even existed. So you could also say Disney based their movie on that ballet and thus it was only natural to also include music from that ballet in the movie.
Beautiful and amazing and gorgeous and wonderful masterpiece love the song once upon a dream from the Walt Disney animated film sleeping beauty it’s one of my favorite Disney movies of all time the story is amazing and the songs are fantastic and beautiful I imagine dancing with someone special like a beautiful and handsome prince to call my own and we would live happily ever after
I love this song, and when I heard Lana Del Rey sing to it, it sort of bothered me because without the lyrics, it beautiful and tells a story itself. When she added lyrics to it, it made me sad because to me, it took away how without words, the music tells a beautiful story.
Actually, Jack Lawrence and Sammy Fain wrote the lyrics for it when it was included in Walt Disney's 1959 film "Sleeping Beauty", the precursor to Maleficent which featured Lana Del Ray's remake. But, just maybe, the lyrics could possibly help those who don't know the story line of Tchaikovsky's original play to understand and connect to the meaning and essence of the song. Even Del Rays version was sung for a slightly different purpose and standpoint than the original film version.
Another odd observation: the first 30 seconds of this piece though not heard in the Disney film, it is played during the Sleeping Beauty unit at the Disneyland Very Merry Christmas Parade.
Lol so Disney have no talent to create music like a lot a raper now adays so he take an old copyright free classical music... Wow so much talent from this guy
lmfao dude. This waltz was made with the sleeping beauty fairy tale in mind. It's literally named after it. Obviously they'd somehow incorporate it into their adaptation of Sleeping Beauty as a funny obscure reference as such.
Can't listen to this without hearing the lyrics to Once Upon a Dream
TheEquus92 no one can, lol
I’m glad I’m not the only one

Same I remember this song from Tom and jerry as well but in mouse follies
Studios used classical music because they didn't have to pay royalties
Isn't it odd that Tchaikovsky unintentionally wrote a disney song
😂 funny cause the song once up on a dream sampled the melody
f off with your disney crap.

Fun fact: the ballet came over a century before the movie and disney actually took music from the ballet not the other way around
I realized Disney used this song for both "Once Upon a Dream" and "I Wonder"!
I Wonder used a different melody/sample from Tchaikovsky’s composition.
2:15 “I wonder. I wonder”
eeeeereees tu la dulce ilusión que yooo soñeeeee~
I want this for my wedding for the first dance with my new life partner.

@@firejWhat is the storyline of the original play by Tchaikovsky?
Maybe blame Disney for doing that and not Lana, she didn't personally do anything.
I love this song in Dancing into 30 that was the opening
Una vez la película "Camino" Está es una de esas que siempre te causarán nostalgia.

This piece does not sound on Sleeping Beauty.
the unreal player this is the original but Disney changed it
@@RubberDucky-ri1nbWell, Disney made a different adaption and composition. Using George Bruns as a composer to do it.
