Awesome video thank you I'm thinking of buying the DJI mic, so really helpful to see your experiences. People in the comments are saying that the Rode sounded better in this video, but to me it looks like the placement of the mic affected the difference Anyway thanks again, subscribed!
I got the DJI mic recently and I’m pleased with it so far. It’s compact and easy to use. The backup recording feature is key and will probably save me in the future!
Almost everything you pointed out about the DJI was better, except that the sound of the Rode sounded noticeably better to me, though slightly quieter.
I think the the rode sound quality was slightly better than the dji‘s but what if i am going to use a lavalier? Is the sound quality then only dependent on the quality of the lavalier or does the transmitter also Influence the sound quality?
I'm considering a wireless mic and your video sold me on it. I appreciate how you explain your experience and thoughts. It sounds like you recorded the vid using the DJI. The sound quality has more depth and less background noise. Thank you for sharing.
Rode knows sound... DJI knows drones and gimbals... I'm sticking to what companies know best.. DJI attention is being too spread out I don't feel theyll support their products long term..I have their drone and I'll eventually get their gimbal.. Sennheiser and rode for me
I went to turn on my Rode transmitter for the first time, and the power button was defective. Also, having to use proprietary software to download the files is very lame. You can just plug the DJI into any computer and access the files. Copy/paste, no need to download and install an app.
Just received my dji mic. Your review helps me feel better about my choice. I have a question. Can you charge the receiver while operating on the camera? I plan to use one mic at a time and switch mics when power runs low in one. That way I can run 10 hours + recording time.
Technically you should be able to, as they sync automatically when you take them out the case. You just need to check the mode in the reciever is the one you require.
Thank you for your video. I found it is very sad because the DJI is not compatible with Samsung Note 10 and Note 10+. I hope you can do a video about this please.
Hi Michael, the camera (Sony A7IV) is set to the lowest gain (1), The transmitter was on 0 gain for this video, but now I adjust it to around +6 to +8 depending on the situation. The receiver is in 0. For the Rode, the camera was on 1, the transmitter I can not recall at the moment, but I checked that the color of the bars stayed on green or max yellow.
@@AndresQuinteroPhoto Thank you for the reply. So when you record like this and take the footage to the editing software, what does your sound scale show? around -6? or is it super low like -20 and you have to boost in post?
@@MichaelYoungKim When I recorded with the DJI transmiter in 0, I had to add gain (+9) in the editing software. If I record with +6 gain in the transmiter, then I don need to add so much. It is also Possible to use the Safe mode, so you have one of the transmiters in -6 in case there is some very loud sounds in some points
@@AndresQuinteroPhoto so when you have it at +6 and you dont have to add much, those that mean that your sounds are close to hitting 0 db on the scale? Sorry so many questions 😅
I made a new test for my new video, I recorded at +7 in the transmiter and level 1 in the camera. The sound come close to 0, and in some points when I talked loud, a bit above (for that situations is good the safe mode). So I would say depending on how loud is the environment and my voice, anything arround +0 und +6 have worked well. I also checked that the sound was shown max in yellow in the receiver, and in the camera was shown around half of the bar (I notice that what is shown on the reciever is what matters the most). I hope it helps, bests!
Great review and comparison! I have a question, why is the dji mic not available globally yet? People have been reviewing it for the past 6 months now and I’m waiting patiently to get mine
Just found the Rode’s on a sweet discount, and in this video the Rode was much better than the DJI in terms of sound quality. How did you clip the Rode one to your phone?
Thanks for the video. I been using mostly my iPhone built in mic which works great in the office but perform terribly outside with noise. I was split on rode go vs dji but I am more sold on the dji because it is much simpler. I don’t intend to record Audio separately. I just intend to use it as iPhone mic or camera mic while recording outside.
Very good quality content man, your filming and review were great! I also hope I can save enough to buy the DJI cause you don’t need extra cables like Rode and the charging case is better than Rode too
Problem with the DJI Mic is that it seems not to exist in reality. We have been waiting for six months already, still no confirmation of a delivery date. In the meanwhile we have been hit by severe inflation and devaluation of our currency, so even the Rode WG II has gone up like 30% in price. I should have grabbed the WG II instead of waiting hopelessly for this fictitious microphone.
Thank you very much for the video. I am impressed that the dji system is more convenient in many of its features, but it fails miserably in the main one: the Rode system has much better sound quality. Use headphones to check it out. Click on the minutes: DJI 3:26 RODE 3:59
RIP Rode, DJI came and skipped ahead to the product Ride would of made in 2028. Ordered the DJI MIC last week. Nice review btw really enjoyed your video 😉
This guy is stupid underrated, like man. Go drop a sub!! Thanks for making this video! I think the røde mic sound better while recording so i'm going to get that since the dji isn't in a store in my country. Definetly comming back later!
The Røde Wireless has way better sound, despite it's cable-management issues. It's easy to see which of these actually make microphones.
Awesome video thank you

That is a good question! I guess we can only know by testing.
But definetly the settings you use in one or the other will affect the final result.
@@AndresQuinteroPhoto Thank you for the response :)
Great video, but I'm thinking about how it sounds with the lavalier compared with rode?
Thank you! I guess it also deppends on the quality of the lavalier, but it would be nice to do the test! :)

Where i can buy that dongle for iphone. All dongle here in Philippines are not supported
Do you mean for the Rode Mic? I got it on Amazon, but the DJI MIC comes already with all the adaptors you need
I mean the white adapter for the iphone bro. The connector
that one came already with older iPhones
Thanks bro. Nice video!

Definitely worth to listen. I wanted to set a open mic for my radio station in busy shops. This review was a great to choose DJI.
Thank you! Bests for your radio station :)
The DJI Mic just got a firmware update. It added Auto Record, Record lock, and the LEDs are dimable.
Thank you, that sounds amazing! I will install it asap!
Thats why i clap in my hands when a shot starts. So you can sync audio clap with video (hands clapping).

Hi Paul, thank you!
At the DJI store they told me that they are having corona issues and that is why the mics are taking long to come
Supply issues. But after many videos i will have to buy the dji one.
@@Tvj_films8452 hands down, especially the 250meter range which will help me a bunch shooting car rollers audio

How did you clip the Rode one to your phone?
I used the 3.5mm adapter for smartphones from Rode + a 3.5mm to Lighting adapter (check in the video the red and the white cables)
very nice, very concise and to the point without going into too much detail.
Thank you! I am glad you liked it :D

Nice but rode sounds clear but I subscribe

Thank you!
Each transmiter last 5.5 hours, and you can charge them several times on the case while you are not using them.. So they last a lot.

I'm guessing it's compatible with the osmo action ...
🧊
There is a 3.5 adapter for the Osmo action, which is compatible with external microphones.. technically it should work at least this way :)
