I think it might work similarly to changing a skin. It makes you have to focus that very slightly more, as you are unfamiliar with that setup, but it's not a big enough change to cause problems for you. I sometimes change a skin or something else very slightly and end up doing well on maps where I was mindblocked previously.
Reminds me of that one study about minor changes improving performance.

Keyboard enthusiast here, you probably feel better note accuracy overall because the hyperx alloy has a refresh rate of 1000hz like most standard gaming mice, your other keyboards probably are set to 125hz or 250hz which is the standard especially on customs, but if you have one that uses VIA or VIAL, you can change that easily with a quick edit to the config files.
Some keyboards have inconsistent polling rates , mine reverts to like 125hz whenever you play high bpm maps.. The unstable rate lines will be consistently inconsistent on speed maps rip

Refresh rate is more for monitors as it shows how many images a monitor can display in a second.
Polling rate is how many times your keyboard sends data to your computer.
feel free to correct, i'm not the most knowledgeable when it comes to this.

I bought that keyboard as a normal gaming keyboard a few months ago since all my custom build keyboards had an inconsistent polling rate. I stopped playing osu! back in 2018 and have played on/off ever since. Started using this keyboard and for the first time in 4 years, I started to go move up in the ranks lol. I've used dozens of keyboards over the years, some with similar specs (polling rate, switches, etc), and yes, this keyboard is a cheater keyboard. No idea why but it's true.

Proud tbh. That's the keyboard I have, too. I love it! It's my first mech kb but for osu! it has felt much better than when I was using my laptop keyboard before.
I have also seen the results of the cheater keyboard. However I honestly just believe the keyboard I had was trash. Razer Blackwidow V2 (Orange) Referbished. I always suspected something was wrong with the inputs/delay and occasionally clicks wouldn't register.

Are you gonna try the wooting keyboard? Actually one of the fastest keyboards available, has true 1000Hz, magnetic sensors, adjustable actuation/reset points with up to 0.1mm precision, rapid trigger (motion activated with dynamic reset/actuation points. Ex: activates the key as soon as you move it down, even if you do it midway without fully releasing past the reset point as there is none) I think that's the best for osu.
I had the wooting one a long time ago and personally didn't really do too different from a regular keyboard, and also the Apex Pro but that genuinely felt like pain to play on
I think a top player with good technique testing if optical switches really do make a difference would be pretty interesting though
@@Kariyu101 That's the old one, now they make magnetic switches which have a cool feature called rapid trigger and much better accuracy. On those pre-travel can be as low as 0.1mm, on the old optical switches 1.5mm was the minimum
