Now let's do a tutorial for the send double inverted frontroll one-footer tailgrab 😀
One of my favorites for sure! I'll add it to the list 🤙
Simply the best tutorials on tube
Thanks so much Michele!
Great breakdown of the various backrolls…this will keep me busy all summer
Great to hear! Have fun!
King of youtube tutorials!!
Thanks so much Carlos!
You da man Steven. Best videos from a great guy. Keep it up!
Thanks Mark! Much appreciated. See you in Hatteras 🤙
That place is gorgeous
Nice back loop variations too
It really is! Thanks 🤙
Legend!
🙌 Thanks a lot
So good of you to create this video and share your knowledge- thank you 😊 🙏
My pleasure! Hope they help
@@stevenakkersdijk your description of the separation between "popped and sent" is the key for me. I can make a scrappy effort at all these tricks but I believe I van steeeze them and refine them if I use the send a bit more
Another amazing Vlog and progression. This is what I was waiting for. Just need for the snow to melt so I can get out and try some of these variations. Looks like you are in Capetown. Nice.
Happy you like it! Hope you get to try them soon!
Man your videos are the best. Keep it up!
Glad you like them! Thanks for the support 🤙
Always the best kiting videos. Brilliant stuff, Steve! Would be great to ride with you one day.
Maybe one day! Thanks for the support 🤙
Supercool…thanx
My pleasure!
Danke
Bitte!
Thx 😉
You're welcome 😊
Ok so from what I just saw in that video, the Nexus has all the HP needed for those cool manœuvre…cool, I need to squeeze that lift out then…😂
Oh yes, plenty of lift in that kite. But you need to be a bit more on it with the timing
@@stevenakkersdijk ok… if you come to Montreal next summer, i will hire you to get that basic dialed in. No Oka for you, we will go upstate NY.
Hands down the best tutorials on the web! Thanks again Steven! Was this your 139 oder 141 carved?
Thanks a lot! I'm always riding a 139cm Imperator now.
Exactly what I needed!! Especially the backtoll to toeside and the backroll tail grab. The rest seems too difficult for me yet... Double backroll I always lose my orientation, and popping from toeside is too hard for me, at least when it's not totally flat.
Would be nice to have some tips for the backroll transition as well, when I land it's rarely smooth, something I do with my lines tension is wrong I think.
Awesome, I'm glad you find this video helpful!
You can find some tips on the backroll transition later on in this video ua-cam.com/video/Um3N8a_Y-P8/v-deo.html In general I would say it's a good plan to watch the entire video as the tips I give for the normal jump transition also count for the backroll version.
@@stevenakkersdijk great, thanks!
G'day Steven, great video !
With popping and jumping, how critical is riding cross-wind vs upwind for these types of tricks?
I've seen a few of your videos now and they all mention cross wind course prior to take off.
My progression has kind of stalled and I think this may have something to do with it 🤔
Cross wind is important as you want to build up speed which is way harder to do when you ride upwind. So it makes quite a big difference.
Hey, do u have a tip for higher backrolls? I have no problem doing backrolls and even doubles in smaller heights. Every Time i go for higher jumps (5m+) i tend to send a Kiteloop, i dont know why my steering is so different. Do you have a tip for keeping the kite at 12? Or slightly past 12
Regards !
You'll have to focus on your steering and maybe adjust the grip on your bar. Other than that I can't really help you.
Hi Steven! Its possible that you are using the hook which is the freeride one from Mystic? (Not the traditional one) Thanks!
Yes it is. I don't really ride with a normal hook any more. Always with the small loop on the slider spreader bar.
@@stevenakkersdijk even for boosting Big Air, the freeride hook is good? Is it as safe as the normal hook? I am thinking yo buy it, after having some nice experiences (death loop because of the hook :) Thanks Steven!
@@Danieldaniel-gz8fe Been riding it for the past 2 years in all conditions (including 40 knot kiteloop days) and it worked out fine. just make sure to keep an eye on the quality of the rope. You might have to replace it after 1-2 years if it shows heavy wear and tear.
Great video. What spot is this filmed at?
I'm glad you liked it! This was filmed at Witsand, breede rivier, South Africa
Any suggestions regarding consistently getting good height on a backroll? I ride in B a lot of chop and that definitely makes it more challenging on take off to be consistent with the height I get.
Try to find a good take off between the chop, this is often really hard. But focus on the water and try to find that nice take off spot.
@@stevenakkersdijk good idea to focus on the water. Of late I have been taking off on waves this gives me a ramp and clean water. Sometimes too much of a ramp 😂 But in waves and chop finding flat water is so difficult !
What are your tips to limit rotation besides straightening the body & pulling in the bar? I use swinging the legs back and pushing away from the harness but it gives a wobbly landing. Can you straighten one leg like when unhooked?
If you've extended your body there's not much more you can do. Swinging the body helps in some cases, but it looks and feels uncontrolled. Rather work on your take off and add less rotational force during the carve.
@@stevenakkersdijk Thanks Steven. Why does straightening a leg work when unhooked? Does it place tension on the lines? There was a recent non-gusty day where I did this hooked and was able to stop spinning as I went for an Indy grab. Possibly I let the bar out as I grabbed? Does pulling in the bar cause you to spin more? I don't quite understand the dynamics of hooked vs unhooked in regard to rotation and line tension.
