- hi again its been half a year but im back with another animatic, critical role this time! this shows actually taken over my entire life and its the best thing that i have ever had the pleasure to spend 300+ hours with.
i adore caleb and notts friendship and this song from notts playlist was just... so perfect... the perfect gut punch... i always wanted to make a full color one and this was a fun little exercise for the 3 day weekend.

It’s interesting because I was at a water park and met a random person there and we talking about tv shows, as we we were talking about a season in a show that had a death and other terrible things that no one had quite gotten over. Thats when she said something along the the line of “Oh no, Mollymauk” And I just gave her a horrified look. And she immediately mirrored my horrified look and went “Oh my god, did you actually get that reference? I’m so sorry, people normally don’t get that one.” Then we started talking about Critical Role. Good times.

This is a really emotional way of calling caleb a garbage fire
I like the use of the flames as a symbol for Caleb's self-destruction and Nott trying to save him but ultimately having to step back to avoid getting pulled down with him.
Also the clever take on "one more or one less" killed me.
The whole wire bit was genius to me. Not is always using that message spell with the wire
For further tears, add to this Molly mentioning the story of the frog and the scorpion in the episode where Nott points out that she's fulfilling the mother role for Caleb
I think Caleb let go of Nott’s hand, because the first time the lyrics say “I won’t let go of your hand”, there were two lines saying it; one was fire orange and the other was brown. However, when their hands get separated, there was only one line, and it was brown.

This is precisely why this campaign is so heartbreaking despite the shenanigans -- they're all being consumed by their own fires --- you have given my heart much strain
Which is why the last 20 episodes have been so impactful. Lots of healing and growth has started.

Yea Im not sure, I feel that nott said at the beginning that caleb taught it to her but in episode 23 or 24 caleb said nott taught him.
@@ivyquinn8855 Nott tried to say Caleb taught her but Caleb didn't know that spell till after her so he learned it from her. He taught her basic magic theory but she learned the actual spell herself
Ivy Quinn Liam taught Sam how to describe a spell like message and then in canon nott taught Caleb
This is so well made and heart breaking, the visual of Caleb being constantly burning is so raw and you're nott is so cute and really expressive one thing though -

this discribes the relation between Caleb and Nott perfectly. It makes my heart ache, because I can feel the pain that they are going through.

Gosh, now I think I have a connection with the meaning of the song with the two...
It's like Nott's trying to move on from her past/herself and become herself, while Caleb can't let go of his past (the wire) and is stuck on it, determined to fix it.
Ah, love this animatic, this song, and the characters.
I think that is why Sam added it to Nott's playlist. They worked together to create their characters' bond with one another and Sam knew Caleb could never let go of his trauma. Which is why it is bittersweet that Caleb and Yessek are together. They can hold their wires forever and tie them into a beautiful bow. But Caleb will fade while Yessek still clutches to their wires. But at least then he wouldn't be alone. He would always have his firey wizard and spicy study buddy knotted up in his wire.

I love how at the end of campaign 2 this applies in the opposite direction. Nott/Veth is moving on (while still caring for Caleb), and it’s difficult for him to accept
The whole cast has made wonderful characters, but Sam's Nott is quickly becoming one of the greatest fantasy characters of all time. IMHO
I have such conflicting feelings, 'cause I don't know whether to thank you or curse your name because WOW this animatic hurt. I already loved the song, and the moment I saw it on Nott's playist I was ready to see animatics (especially with the caption Sam added). But wow, you really hit it out of the ballpark and you've left me utterly destroyed. Thank you.

As of right now, everyone in the M9 has their playlist with the exception of Caduceus.
As someone who struggles with a lot of the issues and insecurities Caleb deals with, this fucking wrecked me. Good damn job.
Love how this is on sams spotify playlist for nott. Fits her and calebs relationship so well , even if we are currently seeing that relationship at a strainful point right now.
You captured the "he's my boy" speech of love and protection from nott perfectly.

This was absolutely GORGEOUS and heartbreaking (especially the one less/one more... I got goosebumps)
Also an amazing illustration of Caleb's self-destructive behavior and how Nott wants to fix everything, but ultimately, she can't.
Okay, only saw the first episode of the new season, but this animatic... This might be the push I needed to prioritize the rest of Critical Role. Even without context, I felt something. You did an amazing job with this.
Watching it again just made me realise that THAT wire is the same wire they used to get out from prision.

As an inspiring GM for a pod cast. I want this effect on people. I want to do something for them that relates on these deeper levels... Cause god damn, I am straight crying from this, and it was made from someone inspired by a story told by a group of friends. Thank you Critical Role for making me realize what I want to do with my life.
This song works well with them even now, with Caleb admitting in one of the recent sessions that he's jealous of/worried about Nott getting her life together, since for a while it had just been the two of them. Even now, Caleb is sort of a creature of habit, not easily open to change. Such a wonderfully done Animation! I'm so glad I found it :D

Every party PC from both campaigns so far (so VM and M9) has a spotify playlist. I believe they said it's something they do to try and very into their characters heads and understand them better or maybe I'm wrong and its something they just do cause why not

Goddamn, this is so gorgeous. The art style, the emotion... fuck. And I can't help but think that one part of this is that if or when Caleb starts to finally burn down, he'll probably accidentally take Nott with him.
I love the relationship between Caleb and Nott / Veth so much. No matter how you look at it, there is so much love and understanding between these two.

As I read the comment i see more and more people saying that that they want Caleb to forgive himself, but that's never been the draw for me. I like that he cant forgive himself, I like that he's standing on a cliff ready to jump, and I thing that him dying on the rocks below is a very good story, but its not a happy story so I don't think it will happen

Holy shit. This is beautiful... This is true art. There's so much emotion here and the metaphors and references are all perfect and spot on. I legitimately couldn't think of a criticism or nitpick even if I wanted to. The song choice, they symbolism, the artwork, it is all a m a z i n g . This is incredible. I so hope that the cast or at least Liam and Sam see this, as this is easily the best animatic I've ever seen, one of the best critical role fan song things I've ever seen, and worth the attention of everyone. Fantastic job, I'm so excited to see if you decide to do anymore Critical Role based content! (not that you should feel pressured to do so though, and that goes for everyone :3)

I love that this opens and closes on the same shot, makes it seamless for repeat viewings. One other cool thingy I think was wonderful was how all of Caleb's text was capitalized and all of Nott's was lowercase, thought it was pretty neat. Gotta say my dude, this was heart wrenching and I loved every moment of of it!

This was so very well done, I can hear, see, and even feel the emotions through the song and the animation, and coming from "the future", where I've seen both Knott and Caleb grow so exponentially as characters, the song is even more beautiful
