I just got a QT80, about to put it through its paces. Good to know spurious emissions aren’t a problem. It’s built like it’s ready for travel, no fan, just a massive heat sink.
Nice testing. Great job linking attenuators together . I do not have that many or enough power rating .so I just line tap into 2.5 KW dummy load. This allows power measurement and outher tests at same time. That short piece of 8X is fine. This is HF . maybe at UHF might be a problem with all them connectors but HF is just fine. You could the PTT on mic as straight key. That makes a great POTA radio . Them 3 bands has been open real nice lately. Just throw it on a ATU and Poseidon antenna and make your contacts . Remember 15 amps peak current. 20AH LiFePO4 should run most of the day . With a sound card you can do digital modes just watch duty cycle. Adjust power as needed. You could just hold mic over smartphone and send/receive SSTV . Their a app for that . 73
Awesome! Fantastic, clean radio. I'm measuring better than -58dBc harmonic suppression on every band on the 15m band, And even better on 12m and 10m. 73
@@TheSmokinApe A lot of work went into this radio. More than 18 months of prototype development and testing before release, to make sure that it was actually a quality radio for the HAM/PRO market, first! Also see the latest firmware that was just released, it adds a few nice features. Thanks for the great videos Ape. 73!
Courious about the power output on 12 and 15m. I am seeing 50watts output on those bands through the analyzer on my tuner. What is your experience with power output on those bands?
Power output on 15m is lower, around 40 to 50 watts PEP. RX sensitivity is also slightly reduced on 15m. However it's still very workable and great fun (and clean) to use! 73

Great video! I was going to get this for 10, 12, and 15 meters. These are the bands I primarily do my DXing on. I have made contacts around the world on my Xeigu G90 but there are times when I could use a little more power. The price is right (I'm semi-retired and on a really fixed income). I was hoping it would pass the testing since I don't like to purchase equipment that doesn't pass the spectral purity tests. Thanks for doing the testing. Have a great weekend...73...Hugh...KN6KNB
We also tested it with the Tiny first but it is far from the real parameters, then we tested it with a Ricon Ozilograph and that device has better values than the President Washington 2, we had the Any Tone AT6666 Pro which is the same as the device tested in the video! Conclusion: if you want something good and for a fair price, I can only recommend the AT 6666 Pro!
Nice video Ape…. I don’t have the spectrum analyzer and set up such as you have for testing, so would it be safe to say even with this being one of the Chinese brands that all these would be clean. I know some of the Baofengs are hit or miss. Does radioddity seem to be consistent with their stuff?
It's because the radio is an upgrade of an older model, and the factory did not want to redo all of the documentation and compliance / certification information for the global market. So it remains a 10-meter radio with lots of "gifts". 73
Because its only fcc certified for 10m but you have to push a couple of buttons while turning on the radio and set it to HF to open up 3 bands 10m 11m"NOT MENTIONED" and 12m then you need to take apart the radio and move a jumper to unlock the 15m band. Which is against fcc rules.... blah blah blah. It will vary on power on different bands because the radio is aligned for 10m use and can be aligned by someone that knows what they're doing and will do 100w+ easily especially if you mod the heat sink to put a small fan on the back. And even doing over 100w its still clean on transmit. 73s

Thanks for the additional review on this rig, Ape. Looking forward to the power review vid. This radio is def on my radar.
