Those are old '70s Evans Hydraulics heads on your top 2 or 3 toms. I remember them from a church kit I used to play back in the '70s: a red, white, and blue sparkle Ludwig, a Bicenntenial special. That's a memory I'd long forgotten! The kit looks great, too. One can never have enough toms.
Nicely done buddy. A grand for all was a great buy. Enjoy. Dig your room. Welcome to collecting- it’s a fun sickness. Drum on bro. You have great taste.
Has that cool Hal Blaine “diggadiggaDIGGADOOGADOOGA” sound to it. Take the bottom heads off the other toms, and you’re ready to record the soundtrack for most tv shows in the 70’s. 👍😀
Shawn, that monster set is so cool. I think you should keep it, as long as you have the room for it, and if you don’t have the room, maybe sell off another set that isn’t quite as cool. Happiest holiday greeting to you and all of your loved ones.❤️🙏🎄🎅👏✌️❤️🙏🎄🎅👏✌️❤️
thanks! i'm going to think on it, i already have other 3 ply sets in similar sizes. if i do sell it i may just sell it as a pro beat configuration, sell the small toms separate and keep the snare (of course) haha i don't know just yet, i like to keep stuff a while anyways, have my fun with them then rehome or like you said sell another set and keep all of this. happy holidays to you and yours as well!
Amazed how you find these things and negotiate such great prices. Love those little concert toms. They have that nice pop-pop sound. Have a great holiday. Looking forward to 2024 and more drums!
My kit was very similar..blue sparkle concert toms..6-8-10-12-14 and a 16 floor..2 24'' kicks and a 1980 Ludwig Supraphonic. I ended up selling half of it because I was playing Country music in smaller bars and halls. I played the black dot Remo too..loved those drums! Nice find you have here!!
Awesome deal! Easily worth 1,500. If you don’t put BLACK DOTS on the whole kit I would consider a very underrated head that would be perfect for this kit, the Remo Ebony emperor ‘’SUEDE” heads. They are amazing heads and would make this kit sound fantastic and they would LOOK AMAZING on the kit with the faded black heads. If you have an already decided on heads, I would consider just buying one Ebony suede had for one of the times so you can get an idea. Enjoy!
@@shawnsdrumcave Your welcome! There’s a UA-cam video from Remo and I often go between listening to the Ebony emperor Suede heads and the Vintage classic heads. If you haven’t tried the “Suede” heads I highly suggest them. Not only do they have a warm vintage sound, they look and feel awesome as well.
Merry Christmas and happy holidays to you and yours. I used to do cars and bikes too so I can relate, at 59. This is my new love too. This kit is awesome man! I couldn't believe it when you first posted about it.
Right back at you man! The results/gratifaction is a lot quicker with drums too! 🤣 Few weeks to do a drum or set as opposed to months or years to complete a bike or car. Thanks 🙏
I am very jealous, but with arthritis and carpal tunnel, I don't get to molest my drums and hardware as much I would like. Has always been very soothing to me working on drums, cymbals and hardware. Enjoy!!
Man, it sucks getting old. I've been hurting/sore for about a month or so after my doc switched a medication of mine. I just kinda pushed through the best I could, I would have been done with the shop awhile ago but at 52 I felt like I was 90, I ended up having to stop taking it. Thanks and thanks for watching!
Awesome kit, even better "find"... you got a great deal on that set! I have several in the same configuration and play them as often as I can, basically if space and time allows! One in Black Cortex (you sold me the 14x10 I think) and one in White Cortex, which are just the easiest to preserve in "like new" fashion. Not sure, but I believe those Evans heads on the 3 smallest toms are old hydraulics, which are the worst sounding heads ever, especially on little tiny drums. They tend to just pop and express more attack than tone, whereas, a nice Ambassador-type head would actually project more tone. Otherwise, the kit sounds good, as is. I'd sure buy them for $1,000.
Thanks brother! Possibly, I've definitely sold a few drums over the years! Lol and yes hydraulics! Ugh, I was having a brain fart moment haha merry Christmas, happy new year and as always thanks for watching!
I may have missed it, but ballpark figure, how much is that maple Ludwig set ya back? I would love to get a similar set up when I get the space. Good video, as well.
New heads and a bit of tuning...holy cow!!
Most definitely
for sure!
This is what a proper drum set looks like
Ty!
UNDER A GRAND??! WOW!! This is THE kit I wanted when i was 12! LOVE all the 3 ply Ludwig kits big ,open and warm!
right? i drooled over big kits like this when i was a kid as well! 3 plys are awesome! thanks for watching!
Keep these great videos coming! @@shawnsdrumcave

Wow! nice big garage and workshop and so many drums, awesome !
thank you! i finished the basement/cave and built the garage myself, lots of nights and weekends/work to get to this point haha Merry Christmas!
Hello Shawn! Beautiful Drum kit
thank you! Happy Holidays!
Toms for days! And that 6.5 70’s Supra? Great finds my friend. Be well.
Thanks brother! The Supra is amazing! You as well!
Looks like a fun kit!
The mystery hi hat clutch is a Rogers, judging by the wing screw. Of course, someone may have just subbed that screw for the original.
I'm guessing that as well!
That floor tom with the black dot is sick!! Made my heart stutter!
Black dots are cool! Thanks!
10 pc!!! That lm402 looks brand new!!!!
It's really, really nice. Going right with my green sparkles!

Nice ...
Thanks bud!
Another great find … I guess he was going for that old Neil Peart 70s kit vibe with the Evan Hydrulic heads! Awesome Shawn!
Thanks earl! Now that you mention it that makes sense!
Enjoy !
SWEET KIT!
Thanks 🙏

Just picked up a butcher block cortex myself. Absolutely beautiful in tone man
Awesome 👏🏻 thanks for watching!
So cool as always. Great looking Supra, that alone is worth close to what you paid. Merry Christmas brother!!
Thanks man! You as well!
Garage looks great, a lot more room from the last time I was there!!! Merry Christmas bud!
Thanks and right back at you!

@@shawnsdrumcave you're not kidding! And putting new heads on a drum kit is a lot cheaper than putting a set of dart heads on your small block!

Kick ass Kit and l gotta get one of ya stickahs

Be awesome to keep original for sure. BUTTTT if you ever wanted to part with the concert toms I'd be a buyer. Cheers mate
Right on 👍🏻
Kinda like the token of his extreme drum set
It's something for sure! Thanks for watching!
sweet I have a black cortex ‘73 kit ( pro beat ) 3 ply , clear interiors - and would love to add two concert toms up top
I have a 13,16,18,22 black cortex 3 ply set as well! The little concert toms would be a great addition! Thanks for watching!

Cool set man. Some decent heads. Looks like it should clean up well with a little elbow grease and you'll be set.
Thanks man!

i paid under a grand for everything which is an exceptional deal but be patient and keep an eye out, they pop up! thanks and thanks for watching!
add another kick and paint it a white with a slight hint of pink
That would be interesting! Thanks for watching!
"Still gotta build a proper workbench".... you and me both. 🙄
Time man, time! Haha thanks for watching!
A grand?! What a find. No, at that price for what you got, dumfounded.
Thanks man! Good deal for sure!
