Amazing. What a stunningly beautiful car. Have always loved the 98, Oldsmobile’’s version of the Cadillac Sedan de Ville. Whoever gets this one is truly lucky.
they were tuned down so much for smog they didn't have the HP you are thinking, a 70 maybe 71 would beat this car off the line and be nicer getting on a freeway
@@michaelpfaff-mdh-2033 What exactly do you think a 45 year old hood spring is supposed to look like ? Look at the paint in the jams sir....ya exactly the same paint - if you are cutting corners and passing off a car you do not take the time to do that. This car is original and legit as far as I can see - I have owned about 50 GM cars of various vintages, and I say you are a moron.
@@gt-37guy6 the zeros are crooked that's a sign it rolled over not saying 100% since it does have that window sticker in the rear window but somebody could have just glue that back on
Wow absolutely stunning when cars had individualality you knew this was a 98 this is great that it hasn’t been ruined I really hope whoever buys it that they continue to take care of it and keep it in original condition hopefully someday it will be in the Oldsmobile museum in Lansing where it’s safe and protected I really like how the original window price sticker is still with it !! Such a beautiful classy car !!
Had one almost like it. Same color, my seats and door panels not as fancy. Magnificent car, nothing today comes even close.1976 mercury grand marquis were also super nice
Whoa! I didn't know they made these in the Linden, NJ plant. The last cars made there were GMC Jimmy and Chevy Blazer in 2005 when the plant finally closed. Down the road, was the Ford plant too.
back when velour interior was the rage! The vinyl on the door armrests was really thin and cracked in a few years. The filler panels between the bumpers and the body also rotted out in the sun. They did ride and drive nicely though.
That was a big beautiful car! Back in the day we were considering building a new house and our chosen building contractor came to our house and parked his silver 2 door 98 Regency, like yours, in front of our house. I'll never forget that beautiful car. I always prefer a 2 door over a 4 door. I like long doors!
My girlfriend had one just like this. It was always really hard for her to get it to start in the winter, she would usually flood the crap out of it by pumping the gas to much, but if she pumped it enough it would usually start. She drove that car up until a year ago, she loved the interior, she loved having that big ashtray in the middle of the dash, it was easy for her to reach while driving. It was a great car, until some moron rear ended it.
I once saw one of these exact cars being towed to the scrappers in the UK because it had (apparently) just been left out in the weather. The mileage was low and the interior spotless but the rust was TERRIBLE. Holes right through the body-work. I was disgusted, so great to see a lovely example. Cheers.
I read a article that Porsche 911-912 buyers from Germany are looking to buy out of the southwest like California etc, most of the German ones have rusted out
I disagree - I loved the New Yorkers and especially when they were Imperials in 1974-75. Got a lot for your money with Imperials. First domestic other than Corvette to have 4 wheel disc brakes. Had electronic ignition before GM or Ford did, and that wonderful tufted interior was the stuff of legend. Only the Talisman looked more comfortable. Then again, all cars were super plushy and can't go wrong with any of them if you can get one
@@1983jblack Even though, I’ve come to appreciate the design and styling features of the New Yorker/Imperial, I was always put off by the way the C-pillars had the concave, or inward curvature, as it swept sharply downward and to the rear...and that Chrysler, never really bothered to ‘update’ its exterior with small finishing touches, like GM did with it’s B-bodies or Ford with the LTD Landau/Grand Marquis Brougham by adding either thicker chrome trim where existing pieces already were or adding extra pieces where none existed initially, But then I suppose that was the appeal of the Chrysler models, not overdoing the exteriors with excess and as some would say, gaudiness. They were quite stunning in white with white or red interiors, black with black white or red interiors and silver with red interiors!
I know this is an old vid, that 98 is stunning, I'd so drive that today - when American cars had class and turned heads. I'd replace all the tires, hoses, belts, charge the A/C and your good to go!
Harley has made a profitable business for a long time making motorcycles that hide new tech but look like they're from many decades ago. Why not do the same with cars? I love interiors such as this Oldsmobile's and have always found them to be superior to anything made since. When I look at a current Mercedes interior for example, like an E-class', it seems cold and way too affected. This Olds is warm and inviting, and all the fake wood and chrome is perfect because it's just for your pleasure, and not to impress anyone.
I live in Lexington, KY and yesterday I saw a green one for sale here. As of today 4-11-20 it’s listed for $6,500 with 58,000 miles. I have pics I can email and the number listed to call/text is 859-699-3571.
This car looks like it was hermetically sealed in a time capsule from 1976! My best friend dad owned one back in 76.' Looks just like it, only his was white with Burgundy vinyl top. I was 15 at the time lol. The ride was like no other. Except maybe a Cadillac De'ville from that era. How much did you get for it? Just curious.
What did it sell for???. I am dying to have another one.... I love mine tragically total loss... It was the first car I ever had... Seeing this give me tears. The one I had was my Mothers. I hate I lost it.

I have a '76 with 40K on it and the rear bumper fillers have cracks in them that I keep chasing by putting GOOP over the new cracks, I have found Replica plastics had them available a couple of months ago on their web site
hate to say this, but the nice last Olds 98 for a few years was the 1972, without the Gov Mandated huge bumpers etc. The 77-79 is a nice size, not so huge and drives and rides well. This big engine in this car is tuned down so much for smog, it doesn't have the HP the Olds 98 did at the beginning of the decade
Sorry - I know this video is over 3 years old, and that 98 is long gone, but there is no way that car had only 80 miles on the clock. Why is that, you may ask? 1. That engine compartment showed a lot of signs of a higher mileage car. Such as different belts, and the air cleaner label peeling off and heat-worn, among other idiosyncrasies I noticed. 2. The power antenna only goes up a few inches? Shouldn't be like that on a car with only 80 miles. That antenna should be going up all the way. 3. That right front tire looks baby-ass bald. 4. That window sticker (where's the other half by the way?) looks like a cheap photocopy taped to the window. 5. Why not a look in the trunk or at the undercarriage? Those places will really tell you if a car has only 80 miles on it. I wish I could have come across this video 3 years ago - I could have made potential buyers aware of being scammed.
They took our choirs of color away around 1986 in order to bring costs in manufacturing down. Prior to that you could order red, blue, green, brown, gold, tan, black or white. When white was ordered you had the choice of cladding in any other of the other interior colors. That was the norm then.
