- The St. Petersburg Police Department said scammers are getting more sophisticated as technology continues to develop. They've seen instances where Uber and Lyft drivers are now being used as part of scams in the city.

This is one of the reasons why I DO NOT DO Uber Connect. I really stopped doing it after Uber changed it to where we have to get out of our vehicles if the customer requests it. NO WAY. Not in Chicago. I don't do Uber Eats either. All money ain't good money. And btw those are cut and paste statements. Uber and Lyft don't give a crap. They really don't.
Why TF are they picking up packages anyway. Stick to the people only and stop putting Americans in harms way. You should be told what's in the package shown to you before you take it and said person sending will have to pay the insurance if something happens to that package. They will get reimbursed
@kkiser4829 it seems you are unfamiliar with Lyft and Uber unfair practices to drivers ... who will get deactivated sometimes just for refusing to pick up or complaints made by customers even if it's retaliatory and they are criminals

Amen to that. Unfortunately there are desperate people out there that need the income and these companies know it.

Don't do this lyft driving, lyft takes about 50%-65% of money from drivers, drivers pay gas, wash car, changing oli, tires, have all risks during the driving. Lyft does only finger work and have some phone calls. Last 3days, they gave me only 19$ per hours for sure.
19 - gas ROUND TRIP and car maintenance. You made bout 6 bucks an hr.😂😂😂 below minimum wage. And your tip % is 1 out of 10 customers 😂😂
@djnoplay766 unfortunately it is, lyft and some say, making $2000 is possible but it is once a year when lyft give us $500 challenge weekday and weekend and then they are advertising which can make over making $2000 of money
I only do Lyft to make some extra money. Also because I find driving fun. I’ll be darned if I make it my full time living lol

Drug trafficking, scamming, and identify theft, is always finding new ways to get 1 over people to ensure profit. And sum cases the drivers are actually involved but play the victim.
The driver was first scammed by the rideshare company. They are easy targets... for scammers.
What a joke??? If the drivers cancel; 1)it will affect their acceptance rate and if the customer complained even a scammer, Uber and Lyft may deactivate the driver without even notice

Hello, I would like you to do an investigation on the uber company where passengers pay a huge fee and are paid approximately 55 at the airport and only the driver earns 15 and I can give more examples, you have to state that uber takes up to 70% of the payment and the drivers 30 on occasions is a robbery

No wonder they are scams if America can pay a decent average where the debt to income ratio is fair nobody will be having to do crimes and scams. And yes there needs to be a lawsuit action against Uber, Lyft and DoorDash
Thiis is why I no longer do Uber Connect.
I’m a driver and this happened to me. It wasn’t obvious what was going on at first but after the first attempt to drop off the “package” failed it became very obvious what was happening. Ultimately I took the package to police dept and explained to them what was happening. They said it wasn’t the first time they’ve heard of this scam. They told me they would have the couple come to the station to pickup the package. After a few days I called the officer because I was so curious how his talk with them went down. He told me that they understood what was happening but ultimately reached back out to the scammers and still gave them the money… 😂

I stopped driving with Uber years ago my passenger had me making “stops” at to many houses Uber only text asking was I ok cause I wasn’t heading to my drop off but clearly they seen he kept changing drop off location I drove off on his butt after the 6th house cause idk what he had going but I was done
I felt that😂😂 there’s no way after the 3rd house I woulda dipped .Uber is a service yes, But that’s taking advantage 😂
I went to a college football game this morning. I got a call because I was told I'd give you $6 for a 15-minute distance, but it took 40 minutes because of traffic. But I still got $6 for it. So I asked Lyft HQ and there was no answer

Drivers, keep the following in mind. You have no way of knowing what the package holds not to mention the DANGEROUS sItuation you may be being placed in. Rideshare companies know better but are only thinking about the added revenue this has for their investors/bottom line.
Personally, I don't do deliveries anymore. Not worth the risk or the low compensation you receive. The part stores or dealership repair shops rarely, if ever, tip drivers. Not worth the time/effort in my opinion.

They tried to get my parents with this scam. They called up and said grandpa, He was like yeah. She said I'm in trouble and can't call my mom she'll kill me. Can you send me 500$ to get out of jail
He said of course sweet pea for the information hung up. Grandma said wait a minute what did she call you. He said grandpa. Grandma was on it. She said no she doesn't call you grandpa. He says Oh My God you're right. Called her cell phone she was home no issues. So grandma's, grandpas, cousin's, aunt's, uncle's come up with a password l, a joke anything to know if it's then or a scam
