    I don't know the exact differences, but I think that long-term Depression can be often mistaken for burnout; Who knows? Maybe they are the exact same in terms of work related symptoms.
    Also, I just wanted to say: Often times I think that people with Depression don't necessarily want to ditch work or be lazy. I think often they would love to work hard to at least feel some kind of an achievement or the lessening of responsibility. I read somewhere this weird fact that burnout is not from working hard, but rather feeling like the work has no meaning or that the amount of work far outweighs the rewards.
