I’m originally from Los Angeles but lived in Tennessee for 20 years. I realize I’m no longer a big city person but I also know I don’t like cold weather and snow. We settled in Buckeye and so far we love it. Been here a year. It’s not as fast as downtown Phx but it’s only a 10 min drive to Goodyear or Avondale which has everything we need.

Just a few years ago, I was in a meeting with a couple guest speakers from our state government. I live in NC. They were talking about where the transplants into our state come from. The #1 state where we get the most transplants was New York! People were already moving out of NY and coming South. I had a couple of my work colleagues who were from NY and said that they loved it here in NC. It's a slower pace, cheaper, less crowded, and yet still good job opportunities, etc. I think it is a little more on the boring side, but I guess not having the stressful living in NY is much more worth it.

Love your channel, man. Just found it. Life long Queens native here. Strategically planning my exit from NY within a couple of years. Went down to Tampa this summer for a week to check it out. Wasn't crazy about it, so thinking maybe headed West. I'm single, 50 yrs old. Not worried about kids or a big house. Just planning my retirement years. Sadly bro, most of North Jersey and the boroughs is just crime ridden the last 2 yrs. I'm talking car jackings at red lights, walking your dog on a lovely tree lined street and being rolled up by homies from the Bronx with guns in front of your house, being shot at on the LIE or Van Wyck...all kinds of crazy crime I never saw in Queens even in the 80s. The criminals have free reign on the city and burbs even out on Long Island. No street is safe in 2022. I got get out while I'm alive. And how can Arizone heat in the Summer be any worse than NYC heat + 100% humidity and the smell of piss and rotten Chinese food sitting on the streets?

You are right, AZ's dry heat of 115 isn’t as bad as NY's 95 degrees with 100% humidity. I didn’t know how bad crime had gotten in NY/NJ. I recommend that you come to check out the Phoenix valley to see if it’s a fit. Each area has a different vibe. I’m in Queen Creek which is in the East valley.

@@ArizonaLiving cool. yes, crime is really bad. the scary part is it's trickled into what were considered good neighborhoods. Even a place like Throgs Neck/Pelham Bay in the Bronx. I've been out to Phoenix area always for work in and out, so yea I need to spend a week and drive around. I was surprised at how expensive even a 1br condo would be . Mostly all over $300K on zillow, which would be my very max I'd have avail to spend when I do make a move. Looks like Florida may end up being cheaper.

Remember Sam, many months ago I posted a message for you on here telling you something similar to what you have just discovered for yourself! I have only lived here in Q.C full time since August, but I love it here. I was around for much of the Summer, just not every day & it is tolerable for me. Either you hide indoors in the Summer here, or you hide indoors in the Winter in NY/NJ. Where i lived most of my life, in O.C, CA, you don't have to hide at any time of the year, but it is very expensive to live there, & that is why I am now here! I have lived in CA, TX, MI, WA & now AZ during my lifetime.

I hate nyc too. I wish I never left arizona 😪. I just couldn't find work in az. I going give arizona another chance. Nyc isn't doing it for me anymore
