No worries. It was originally an attempt at de-fretting it to make a fretless. I liked it better with frets in the end. Got a soft spot for it still....
I have a Westone Thunder 1a which needs refurbishment. It works perfectly well and I was in the process of re-fretting it. I used some paint and grain on it about 20 years ago which needs to be stripped off to reveal the original finish. But otherwise it's great. The tone id hobo too. £100 and it's yours plus postage.
Seriously though...The Spectrum DX basses are amongst my favourites, all maple, 1 more fret, more output pickup & cast bridge...an up-graded ST, which is also excellent & underated....in my opinion! Lol!
The westones have jumped up in price over the last few years I had a spectrum lx bass about 12 years ago from crack converters for £80 it was nice but I allways wanted a thunder one so got rid of it The thunder is way nicer than the spectrum imo The material quality just feels better i prefere the un painted hardwear and neck The aria pro 2 basses from the same factory and era are also very nice to play and sound great very close to the westone thunder feel but for less money
Mate, i love your whole attitude/demeanour to life. Quite frankly, fucking cool! I have both a Thunder 1A and Thunder 1A Fretless (both '84) which i adore! Enjoyed this so much. Having had a few lazy rodents in the past, i am suitably impressed with how you have trained your rat to get busy and power your amp. Impressive shit... \m/ (:o)
cheers man, done bazillions of videos so theres defo enough for you to get bored- unfortunately the wee degu (not a rat)died about a year ago - i miss him, he was a happy chappy - rock on!
i still havent found a thunder for myself, even though ive fixed up and done vids for 3 of them none were the active version.interesting that it eats batteries - does yours have a stereo jack socket to turn the battery off so it doesnt run down when unplugged or was that a more modern invention?
Hey. I have an opportunity to buy the active version of this bass as my second bass for £200 in ok condition. Is it heavy? Do you think that it’s worth £200 or should I just get a squier?
Love the Hampster going nuts in it's wheel in the background!!

These basses are not so cheap now. I just paid £350 for my 1A but they are around £450 now.

Nice!
Thunder 1A is very good in active mode but it eats batteries. But it sounds like a totally different guitar
in active mode.

@@MADMALKO Yes it does but a I tend to forget.
@@andygretz id imagine technology has moved on a bit too so more modern preamps are probably much more efficient batterywise - rock on!
If you put some amphetamine in the hampsters water supply you could hook up a small generator and have free lighting....
