Vintage Kenner Star Wars Boil and Pop Action Figure Head Swap Massive Fail

  • I've heard for years that it's pretty easy to swap the heads on vintage Kenner Star Wars action figures. I thought I'd give it a shot swapping a vintage Bespin Han Solo with a vintage Death Squad Commander to make a custom Rebel Soldier. I don't know what I did wrong, but it was an Epic Fail! If you've tried this before successfully, please let me know what I did wrong!

    Reaction from a guy who desperately wanted a Han Solo in Bespin Outfit when he was 10/11 years old but could never get one because he lived in a small mountain town that didn't have a toy store, and his parents never went to the nearest city (and on those rare occasions when they did, would never even consider wasting their money on toys for their only child--not bitter though):
    (In James Earl Jones' voice from _Revenge of the Sith)_ "Nooooooooo!"

    Some figures have the plug attached to the body and a hole in the head. Much easier to remove and swap heads. Luke Bespin and Luke Jedi are like that.

      Yes! I've never done any of those head swaps, but they do look much easier!

    Water's not hot enough. Besides, you have to be quick. If it doesn't come off right away, put the figure back in the water.

    I know,I haven't done any vintage Star Wars head swapping goot, but I have seen a video called Star Wars Trash Compactor.. It worked successfully with them.. Maybe you should watch it, and let them guide you through it..

    I used to do head swaps on my Masters of the Universe figures as a kid... just because I was board. Ever see Zodak with Stratos’ head... it’s breathtaking.

      I've done a few of those. Much easier than the Star Wars figures!

    You have to crack the torso, been looking for tutorials on how to do this with super 7 reaction with no luck.

    I used to do this all of the time. You don't need boiling water. You need the right types. I had both of these and you can't without ruining them. I remember Bosks head on the imperial commander's body was pretty cool and fit. Princess Leigha in bespin gowns head would fit on the princess leigha in desquises body. I left that one because I lost the helmet and the original head was too small. I put someone's head on Han Solo in hot gear but I can't remember? I think it was too loose whoever it was? I can't remember any others that worked well, but I tried every option I could our of the 40 some I had. Magic marker black eyes and burns were fun too😃. It only took melting 1 GI Joe figure with a lighter to realize there's no recovering from that type of wound (one of the twins) crimson twins?

      I've seen this done successfully with these two figures. I've been told I just did it wrong. I might try again someday if I have two more extras of these two figures!

    Use a small needle to put the figures back together and you will still have articulation on the neck .

    • @WeHadThat
      @WeHadThat  3 роки тому

      That's a good idea! I actually had enough of the neck plugs still connected that the heads do stay on (and turn) without having to "fix" anything! :)

    It used to be so simple to pop heads when it was new plastic. You didn't need boiling water then. That was fun putting everyone's head on Leia's body. "Hahahaha". It was funny but not as funny as we thought it was
