    -Zeer effectieve filterende werking
-Ideaal voor huisdier bezitters en rokers
-De Timestrip® geeft aan wanneer de filter vervangen dient te worden
-Vervang het filter minstens 1 maal per jaar
    -Inhoud: 1 filter
    Compatibel met:
    S4000-serie, S5000-Serie, S8000-serie.

Better to use the Hepa filter since (although it may not seem that way when the vacuum smells of dog) retaining the millions of the smallest, critically sized particles is much more of a health benefit - just change the bags frequently before the smells accrue.

The timestrip on my HEPA Airclean 30 is indicating replacement, however I don't use my vacuum as frequently. Given this is a time based and not usage based indicator, am I okay with relying on visual inspection of the element to determine change interval? Thanks.

Abhi, you can actually go several years before needing to change the HEPA filter, probably 3 or 4 years. As you say, the timestrip is time based - Miele figures that the average household does enough vacuuming in a year that the filter should be changed yearly, and of course they want the profit from filter sales. However, the bag is capturing the majority of the fine dust, & all the HEPA filter is capturing is carbon dust emissions from the motor & ultra-fine dust emissions you cannot see, even allergy sufferers will be fine. Just check the filter yearly & when the filter starts to become really dark from carbon dust emissions, or you start to see a drop in suction & airflow, then it's time to change it. And whatever you do, DO NOT BUY THE GENERIC HEPA FILTERS!!! Most of them have poorly designed casings that do not seal properly to the vacuum, meaning your sealed Miele vacuum just became a unsealed filtration vacuum like the cheaper makes.

That is so true. I tried to replace hepa with this charcoal filter, and the vacuum just didnt suck at all. Because the bottom is blocked. How does this work?
