That was one of the most brutal games I ever went to. It was hot as balls all game long. And to see them bad news bears that game away like that is a soul crusher after the momentum they gained from the first 2 games. Now to drive 2 hours back home lol

I know, gets me sick. I was at Scranton game last week and was by the bullpen watching Jack Neely warm up. Wow! When his pitch hit the catchers mitt, it sounded like a firecracker going off. Can this guy do any worse than Holmes? What is he doing in Scranton?@@jrzygurl

I was at the Friday night game that started off the Boston Red Sox series when clay Holmes blew it!!,,,, he's a bum!!!!!!,,,,, I get so anxious when he takes the hill... same thing with Rodon... he was supposed to be our number two guy . can't even make five innings 93 pitches.... wtf... don't worry folks the scrub we got from the lowly Oakland A's who was DFA will save us!!!,,,,, after today's loss I'm just so disgusted... thank goodness it's the All-Star break.... I need a minute to recover from that humiliation....ugh..smdh
OMG. Sorry to hear you had to endure that game against Boston, a real heartbreaker. Don't know what crusher was worse today or that Boston game. I am so disgusted and today I feel like it is toxic abuse watching this team. @@jrzygurl

Was at the game today from the high of Ben Rice to the lows of Holmes, Volpe, and Verdugo.... My seat was one section in into the OF on the 3b side when Mullins hit it I thought easy out then as soon as I looked at Verdugo I knew we lost.....
Clay Holmes not only killed any momentum we had going into the All-Star break but probably gave the Os confidence heading into the stretch. HOLMES IS NOT A GOOD PITCHER.
You took 2 out of 3 against a division rival, who you are chasing for 1st place (down by 1 game, with 80 games to play). The Phillies just got blasted by the lowly A's again. Dodgers are struggling. The AL West looks wide open. The Yanks are playing BAD baseball right now, but so are a lot of teams. You can see this as a springboard, or as a cliff. @@inconnu4961 We've been bad for over a month now, not just bad but embarassingly bad. Blown saves, starters throwing meatballs, manager assembling stupid lineups, the list goes on and on. I know what I'm seeing and I DON'T CARE WHAT OTHER TEAMS ARE DOING. WE GOT SWEPT BY THE REDS IN OUR STADIUM RECENTLY. But have a good Sunday night Red Sox fan.

Holmes has blown six saves. The number should be eleven or twelve. The team has saved his behind several times. Some of the people don't watch the games. They read stats. If you watch Holmes, you can see he isn't a closer. Too much contact.
This lose was the worst I have seen.....we had momentum going in 9th up 5-3. The moran Holmes was horrible , dumb Volpe and dumber Verdugo killed it. Bad lost man . This was a kick in the groin lost

Verdugo and Volpe both should have saved this game. Holmes can’t keep walking batters, but either way he should have been out of it. Big changes need to happen during the deadline.

To the Gentleman whose wife had a bad week, this is just a baseball game. Don't get yourself down when your wife needs you. I'm a Ravens and Orioles fan and after the Ravens coaches decided not to run in the AFC Championship game and they choked(hate KC ) I was bumming. Then my mom got a rare cancer a week later and passed away just two months later. This after losing my only brother to a freak blood clot and father to a freak fall. I realized what matters and that's our families and friends and country. Sports highs and lows are gonna come. But put it in perspective when a loved one needs you positive

Like I said before: the lazy & unmotivated "grassplay" by the NYY will kill them down the stretch along with the infamous 9th inning "meltdown" King Clay Holmes!
Weaver & Hill should be the 9th inning relievers.
The Baby Bronx Bombers gifted the 9th to Holmes and he couldn't throw 1 good strike pitch and the umpire was more then generous to him!
I'm not going to say that was a difficult play for volpe to make because it wasn't at all but I am going to defend him for people to say he sucks and he's a bust is harsh, for one him and vardugo are the best defenders on the team, he's lost us this game but he also saved so many runs from being scored, his bat Im a firm believer that he'll bounce bag but I also think he need a new approach and/or a new batting coach cause some how his when from everyone saying this is a different player to one of the least productive players in the MLB that's doesn't just happen overnight
Os fan here. Our teams have sucked lately. They both need pitching. It's the Sox we both have to worry about. Right now after yesterday we are all Americans. I don't like the bad sportsmanship from some of your fans or ours

The game was right in front of us ie ball in front of Volpe, error, outfield in front of him then over his head,walks by Holmes what a comedy. Boone the door is in front of you don’t like it hit you in the butt on the way out……
Is Aaron Boone the only one that is surprised that Clay Holmes blew it? It is clear by now that he cannot be the closer. It just seems like Hal is just chasing sunken cost. He paid for Holmes to be a closer so he MUST be used as one. He has both of his hands in every decision made. He should just be in the dugout.

No one is talking about Soto going 0-5 with 3 strikeouts and a misjudged play in right that cost us a run. Yes, he gets a pass more than Volpe, Clay, Rodon or Verdugo who have all been dogshit lately, but hes another one who added to the reason for this loss when we needed him to come up big in this important game. If it werent for Grisham and Rice (had all the RBIs) we wouldve been shut out!
Let’s be clear, Yankees did not blow it, Clay Holmes did, as he has quite a few times. He just doesn’t give up a hit here and there , he gives up bombs ! He can never do a clean inning, as he walks batters way too much, yet Boone in his stubborn arrogance, keeps running him out there! When are they going to get, Holmes is not a closer and if they have any serious chance of winning a Championship, Cashmen needs to get a bonafide closer ! What a terrible way to waste a great comeback and a chance to hold first place ! No it wasn’t the Yankees, it was their lack of a true closer that lost this game!

Bad losses will happen, but this team is not a championship team. There are just too many uncertainties, too many guys you cannot depend on to make the smart baseball play or decision.
To lose that game, a pitcher, a left fielder, and a shortstop all had to make amateur mistakes in a single inning, and this is not the first time this has happened, and Boone is not calling them out on it...so no...they're fun to watch at times, but they ain't going anywhere in the playoffs.
If George Steinbrenner was still alive today, this management & player staff wouldn't be here to play!
Cashman should have been fired, instead Hollow Hal (Steinbrenner) gives him a bottomless pocketbook and a new contract!
