I still cannot get over the times when she played her Telecaster with the fish skeleton painted on it.... she changed her looks to resemble Marilyn. Maybe I am too old!
@@p6x2 Samantha's music was at its best as a three piece band, from 2012 to about 2017, when she mostly played her Delaney telecaster. I've watched every video available of her, especially during those years. She's always fantastic of course, but I don't like all these 'guest' guitarists she now has on stage. I realise she's trying to make things more interesting but she doesn't have to - it's the gorgeous Samantha with her guitar skills we want to see!!
@@michaeld2519 I met her when she was a guest artist at the International Dallas Guitar Festival one year. She was still sporting her Fish Tele style guitar at that time. She said that she wanted to tour less, and promote other artists. She did a set with some other ladies, such as Kara Grainger, Sadie Johnson. I saw her again with Eric Gales and Christone (Kingfish) Ingram as a guest again. She clearly was not comfortable when not in control of the set, but she did ok.
@@p6x2 Well, you are very lucky to have met her - I've heard she is friendly and approachable. Samantha is very confident and has a commanding stage presence, so I can imagine that she would not be comfortable when others are controlling the set, as you say. She's been touring for about 12 years now, so probably feels the need for a break. I'm not in the U.S, so I haven't seen her live, but I plan to travel to a festival when I know she will be appearing - hopefully also see some of the other artists you mentioned and Carolyn Wonderland - another favourite.
@@michaeld2519 Well, it is not like I had a long conversation with her. I just happened to be close to one of the stage at the Dallas Guitar Festival, it was early morning with not many people. Sadie Johnson and Kara Grainger were on stage, and Samantha was waiting to join them. The stairs were right where I was. As she noticed that I was looking at her, she smiled, and it encouraged me to engage the conversation. She was extremely polite and focused, like she cared about me. I appreciated that because I am pretty certain that the continuous fans' interest can be difficult to bear at times. She was on her way to another show, and did a favor to the organizer to stop by. Also, she plays and endorse Category5 amps, which happens to be a returning sponsor of the International Dallas Guitar Festival. She has a signature Category5 Amp by the way. I normally go to the Dallas Guitar festival each year, but she is not always appearing and seem to not spend much time touring in Texas for some reason.
Thanks John- great video and sound. This is a classic setlist. Kick Out the Jams, Wild Heart 4:00, You Better Be Lonely 8:04, Chills and Fever 11:43, Never Gonna Cry 16:45, Bulletrpoof 21:58, Miles to Go 28:00, Kill or Be Kind 30:35, Watch it Die 38:06, Jim Lee Blues 46:00, Need You More 50:52, Somebody's Always Trying 55:15, Po' Black Mattie 1:05:35, Dream Girl 1:13:15, Black Wind Howlin' 1:23:44, Encore- Don't Let it Bring You Down 1:36:22 . The only two songs I haven't heard her do live are Miles to Go and Po' Black Mattie, which I want to see. Only one song from the Faster album unfortunately.
She is owning it! We needthis music on the radios!
Miss Fish…. All the great performers from the past included in one person.
This woman can certainly play guitar! And obviously she looks incredible and she knows it that's why she dresses like that. She's a rockstar for sure
