2024. I got to know Mr. Cook watching Steve Perry’s influential character when Steve was young.
I remember when I was little, my mom and Pop used to stand me on their feet and dance with me around the living room to this song. What a great time that was! As a singer myself he's one of my all time favorites. What I think makes him so special imo is his control and pitch which allow him to express himself fully and earnestly. Also he's a master of riffs&runs. He knows when to add them where they enhance the words and feeling.

I seriously thank my parents for influencing my love for music, especially Sam Cooke's music. I can still remember hearing this on a record player as my parents swirled around the house with me crawling behind them. Man, Sam's voice is the only one that could melt me like butter. What sadness it is to know he was taken from us.
I just looked into his death and now I’m sad 😞 I’m not one to scream racism but it was 1964 and it was a white woman that killed him because he was angry. Unless he lunged or put his hands on her it’s the furthest thing from “justifiable homicide”. Their description of what he was wearing seems like an over the top embellishment to sell the story that he was unhinged. The lies never end with these “people”.
...and just like that, seven years later, he'd be gone. R.I.P Mr. Cooke; you will forever be missed. Your contribution to pop music will never be forgotten.

The great Sam Cooke. I am 63 years old living in England , The United Kingdom. I heard his great song long ago when my parents use to play it. Now all of a sudden I find myself singing this song. Sam Cooke had a unique voice. Those police took his life from him. It breaks my heart. Even till this day. So sorry.
What! He was shot and killed by Mrs Franklin who owned a motel when Sam grabbed her in a drunken rage. He picked up a woman while his wife was at home with the kids. The woman ran off from their rented room with Sam’s wallet and he thought Mrs Franklin was hiding her. Those are the facts, stop blaming police.

Yes, Sam was no saint. But you obviously don’t know as much as you think you do; you know only the parts that you wish to present because your hatred and dislike of Sam prevents you from finding out any more.
As for the police. I could go on, but I can’t be bothered. It’s plainly obvious that Sam’s death was only superficially investigated and that the version of events which was presented aren’t ‘the facts’ (the events are disputed - facts are beyond dispute) but even though there might be strong evidence for a cover up of the truth, even the plain facts themselves if all of them were known (and they aren’t - much is disputed) would not change your mind because you have already made it up about what you believe.
