- Vivaldi's Concerto for solo baroque violin and strings in G Minor, "Summer" (L'Estate, RV 315), performed by Cynthia Miller Freivogel and the Early Music ensemble Voices of Music, with an animated graphical score.
Q: Where can I learn more about the ensemble?

Q: Where can I watch this performance?

• Vivaldi Four Seasons: ...
Q: What do the colors mean?
A: Colors are assigned according to pitch, in a system I call "harmonic coloring" (since it shows changes in harmonies). You can read more about this here:
www.musanim.com/HarmonicColoring/
In this video, blue is assigned to the G for the first and last movements and E-flat for the middle movement.
Q: Why is the pitch one-half step flat?
A: The music is being performed at "Baroque pitch." To learn more about this, see ...

Q: I appreciate the animated graphical scores you make; how can I support your work?
A: Thank you! The easiest way to support my work is by contributing via Patreon:

Q: Could you please do a video of ______?

Excuse me how does a video as good as this get a dislike within the first TEN MINUTES?
because people often hit dislike immediately if/when the video begins with a commercial

Whenever I hear this piece I think of Portrait of a Lady on Fire. What a wonderful movie, and this music is as well
The animations just get better and better. Keep up the good work.
Ⅰ.Allegro non molto
Under a hard season, fired up by the sun
Languishes man, languishes the flock and burns the pine
We hear the cuckoo's voice;
then sweet songs of the turtledove and finch are heard.
Soft breezes stir the air, but threatening
the North Wind sweeps them suddenly aside.
The shepherd trembles,
fearing violent storms and his fate.
Ⅱ.Adagio e piano - Presto e forte 5:30
The fear of lightning and fierce thunder
Robs his tired limbs of rest
As gnats and flies buzz furiously around.
Ⅲ.Presto 7:42
Alas, his fears were justified
The Heavens thunder and roar and with hail
Cut the head off the wheat and damages the grain.
I just listened to that piece when summer started
This was one of the most entertaining animations so far! Maybe because of the ballistics. I could see the jumping rabbit! 😊 Thank you!
The jumping rabbit was one of the happy surprises for me too.
Mesmerizing.
Yes, Yes, Yes, Thank-You! I've been waiting for you to do this piece for some time now. I'm a teacher at a Teen Challenge in California, and most of my students know nothing about classical music. So, for these (mostly young) men, and with your 'graphical'-genius, I'm able to expose them to the 'musical'-genius of the likes of Vivaldi, Bach, Beethoven ... well, you know ...
One of the better animations in terms of pure visuals in my opinion.
Bravo! The harmonic coloring really does justice to this masterpiece. And the graphical style fits well to the elegance of the strings.
Wow! And what a performance, too! Comparing the videos of Vivaldi you have done over the years really shows how much you have developed your technique. Thank you for your work.
Here's to hoping you're working your way towards Corelli.
As a matter of fact, Stephen Malinowski used a technique in this graphic he already used in his 2013 version of Syrinx.

At the Wikipedia page for the Four Seasons, you can read all the sonnets which are the unspoken text the music relies on. I don't think the music would be this good without those texts. We're not sure if Vivaldi wrote the sonnets, but in any case, I think it was a stroke of genius to adopt this procedure. These concertos are more compelling to me than his earlier concertos. They seem to have just that little bit extra portion of inspiration.
He was ahead of his time by about 150 years.
Please do try to listen to some of his other works tho, he wrote truely grand pieces.
¡Gracias por el concierto completo!
Wonderful 👏
Oh my god I love it!!!

Changed my mind. The "lined" animations are very good. Very suggestive. Even if they are your own interpretation. They are very good.
When my videos were very simple, I expected viewers to understand and appreciate them completely on a single viewing. These days, I no longer do - especially since it often takes me several viewings before I completely understand them.
@@smalin And all of that is a good thing.
👌🥺
Do Pavane pour infantè defuntè by Ravel please!!!
See “Could you please ...” in the FAQ.
@@smalin I dont think your job is easy, I was just putting the suggestion out there in case you'd ever want to do it because many people have not heard of this one.
@@rachmaninovwasemo2313 I'm familiar with the piece (I play it myself on the piano), and it has been a piece I've been considering for years. The point of the FAQ is this: I don't base my choices on viewer suggestions.
Summer happens in the months of June, July, and August.
Amazing visuals, keep doing it! Can you explain how different colors are grouped together? 1 instrument/midi track = 1 color? or colors are grouped by harmony (in some way)?
In this one each note has its own color, and two notes will have similar colors if they are separated by only a few fifths. (The notes go around the chromatic circle like this C->G->D->A->E->B->F#->C#->Ab->Eb->Bb->F->C
See “What do the colors mean?” In the FAQ.

IMHO, this kind of animation is well suited for the fast parts, but very confusing in the slow parts. It's streamer to see lines going up when the music is going down...
I got confused too when I first saw that effect used a few years ago. Strangely, it no longer bothered me. Maybe that's because I've got used to it. Or maybe because I remember this piece by heart for listening it every once in a while.
pourquoi l'automne a-t-il disparu ? je l'aimais bien . Va-t-il revenir bientot ( en mieux, bien sur) ?
I haven't made an animated graphical score for Autumn yet. Maybe someday ...
There's someone breathing realy loud in background. 😉
They're called "performers."

Only Autumn/Fall left
Very good!
.
There is one thing that baffled me, but I think I get it now.
.
When the next note is lower, the graphic line bows downwards. And when the next note is higher, the graphic line bows upwards. Therefore I see the line go down, despite the fact that the note sounds high.
.
You also have built in a ballistic effect. Very nice!
.
I have rewatched your syrinx animation.
ua-cam.com/video/C_yf7FIyu1Y/v-deo.html
.
There you do exactly the same. There, too, I was puzzled by the fact, that the musical line goes down, when the note sounds high, and vice versa. The motion of the graphic does not tell what the note itself does, except for the dynamics, but it tells us how the _next_ note will sound. So you have put _anticipation_ in the graphic, and combined that with the intensity of the note playing.
.
This is a little bit confusing. Only by intensively watching what you did I now get it.
.
If you do such things, it would be nice if you put it in the comments. Otherwise it would look like a mistake! Which it isn''t!
.
Thanks for this fantastic graphical animation!
Bibi. Merci je suis de nouveau ému c'est magnifique

I love these but whats with the weird heavy breathing?
Unfortunately, these instruments don't play themselves ... you've got to get (I know it's disgusting, but there's no way around it) human beings involved, and they have these (I'm sorry, but I don't know a more delicate way of putting this) emotions --- that affect their bodies.
It's just something that cellists especially like to do even if nothing is happening in the music. They say if you're alone in a room with a cello performer if you listen carefully you can almost hear the cello over the breathing lol
@@smalin lmao I can’t ✋😭 it’s such a tragedy, the whole human-involvement thing… can’t wait until those Tesla bots learn how to orchestrate smh
