Did anyone else notice that when Connor said "There's one person in this room who doesn't think I'm a joke", in the background blurred you can see Lucas point to himself with both hands comically
Omg yes that was so fucking funny. He's just revelling in their messy shit. Oooor, he truly believes Connor can take the reigns of Waystar-Royco when they get acquired. Con for CEO. Conheads will be eating good by the end of this show.
I love the line “reverse Viking. Pillage their village.” Kendall is always puking out verbal diarrhea with his buzzwords and nonsensical insults and “business terms” and finally this line actually makes sense and has an air of Logan to it. It’s funny, but it’s actually pretty on point. That being said, i very much doubt that’s gonna work lol
I swear I get the feeling this show is going to end up just as it begun, just with different people. Kendall is going to end up just like Logan, a flawed (a neglectful/emotionally stunted father), but successful businessman (I fear his siblings are going to fall to the wayside, probably due to his actions, causing him to remain solely in charge), whose siblings hate him (probably for some other Loganesque thing he's going to do). The parallels would be insane and I feel it will be more interesting than seeing Kendall going up in flames again. There have been many instances hinting towards this 'Everything I've done has been for my children', calling Shiv 'Pinkie' and even Roman 'Romulus', its freaking me out, and obviously just emulating what his father would do in other ways (ie. whatever the fuck he wants to)
@@whirlwind872 They were going to buy Pierce when they got their money from the Sell of Waystar, so if they keep Waystar like Kendall wants, then where do they get the money for Pierce and Gojo? Remember Logan was only willing to give 8 billion for Pierce so right now they don't have the funds to buy both.
@@lestonthompson8495 exactly, they don't have the money. Thus I jokingly suggested they'll lazily fudge the numbers like Kendall did at the shareholder meeting
Rewatching season 1 of succession, Kendall says to Roman ‘I love you but you are not a serious person’, exactly what Logan says to all the children in their last meeting. Another parallel
What’s wild is that it’s only been 4 days since Logan’s death, and since then they’ve all lived some of the most consequential days of their lives, I could only imagine they level of sleep deprivation Tom is feeling, 4 days ago he was on a plane w/ Logan dying, then he was in Sweden, then living plus launch, now the tailgate party, after dealing with all the changes in the company, then then election? It’s the busiest week of all time
Funnily enough, the “tight 90” thing Connor says about the funeral might have been a little meta. Jesse Armstrong confirmed the final episode is 90 minutes
This show is so great at making the audience pay attention to the power dynamics of each scene. During the scene where Greg is doing the mass layoffs we can see Tom off camera mocking the devastated employees. It’s comical, but Tom is a smug douchebag. Ironically, later that evening, he is the lowest person on the totem pole for an event thrown in his own home. We have sympathy for him, and his job being on he line, despite the fact that less than 12hrs earlier he was callously destroying the lives of dozens of employees. Man this show is great!
I knew that Tom being so tired was going to be an issue. When he started getting heated, I was like "here it is, stop talking Tom!" They covered every base in that balcony fight, everything that's been built upon up until now. There's too much to process with each sibling individually.
I’m not convinced Mattsen isn’t playing us, too. If he really trusted Shiv with such potentially damaging info (and it wasn’t just a ploy), if he really had such an unnecessary and public fight with his ex in the presence of his enemies where they’d immediately have both cause to think she’d betray him AND access to her; if Ebba would really give up such damaging company info after such a superficial and transparent show of “sympathy” from Kendall (instead of leaking this damaging info to the press)…if all this isn’t some ruse by Lukas, then he’s worse at this than any of the Roy kids. I don’t know what his endgame would be if it’s all a ruse. But all these errors seem just too good to be true. Just too convenient for the most damaging info to come out at this party and all because of a situation he caused. 🤷♀️
I think Mattson went with the over inflated numbers lie to trap Kendall because he knows that Kendall has over inflated the numbers of Living+ at the investors' meeting. So now Kendall is going to try to tank GoJo stock and create a hostile takeover. But it's going to be a reverse reverse viking. Because the siblings are relying on information that they've received directly from Matsson and his team. And that shot of (a supposedly upset) Ebbe sitting next to Matsson looking very self-satisfied is pretty telling.
Mattson wasn’t planning to attend the party until Shiv told him to fly over for that night’s party. So if the timing seems to come together it’s cuz Mattson must have come up with the India plan on the plane, or maybe accelerated the timing of the plan.
I do keep feeling like the dodgy stuff around Matsson is fake or overblown to get a better deal or to get out of the deal.maybe it serves another purpose. I feels like it’s coming way too easy for the sibs to be true. Buy hey, maybe I’m just rooting for the swede to be competent and overlooking the problems.
@@xenon8117 That’s one of the reasons I love this show…it doesn’t telegraph what’s coming and you can see it playing out in a number of ways. Then at each turn it’s both surprising and yet it still not so outlandish that the twist doesn’t make sense. Right now I could see this going for or against the sibs. And because of the masterful writing and acting from Mattsen and the sibs, both directions could be satisfying. I’m going to miss this show!
1) “Your sense of who you are is THAT fucking thin/You’re too transparent to find in a book.” 2) “You wouldn’t be a good person to have children” 3) “It’s not my fault that you never got his (Logan’s) approval.” Tom throwing serious haymakers in that whole exchange.
Alan Ruck is so underrated! How he conveys Connor, the least meaningful Roy, is so refined. Connor comes off magnetic, confident, so convinced of his own reality, and so hilarious. I love his portayal. The actor should get more roles.
I loved the wine subplot in this episode. In the argument, Tom says that Shiv tried to appease him with some "undrinkable wine" after he dodged prison. Tom was offering the wine to Nate and telling him it separated the connoisseurs from the day drinkers, but in reality, Tom just wanted his enemy to drink a bunch of terrible wine and feel like he had bad taste. Frank even commented that the wine smelled like wet dog.
Two classic Logan lines that had a lot or relevance to scenes in this episode: "Everything I have done, I've done for my children.." Kendall/Rava secene "Sometimes it is just a Big Dick contest.." Kendall/Mattson scene
You guys and Dr. Ramani are my top faves to listen to post Succession episodes this season (sad but for this to be the last). I so agree, the writing is so fuji apple crisp!! acting is top notch as usual!
What if “Greg?” does end up number 2 and is Kendall’s 2nd in command like he predicted in the will reading? He already told Tom he is going on the brothers team. Kendall doesn’t sound like he plans on keeping Shiv or Roman around but Greg is still doing favors for him. In the end if Kendall doesn’t screw this up Greg may be the only one left when the dust settles.
No way. Did you catch the scenes where Roman almost embodied Logan. Speech patterns, Body language, and that cold demeanor without any of Roman's usually sarcasm or wierd jokes and expressions... I am betting on Roman to take over in the end.
@@jacoenglander9608 I think Logan was probably impulsive too in his younger years. Logan himself turned on Jerry and in a pretty impulsive/emotional way... age settled him down as well as learning and growing the company. Out of all 3 kids, Roman is the most like Logan imo. Great show!!!
i love how mattsen is physically imposing yet comes off as such a little troll . he bullies everyone all episode but right when ken lets him know low key i know ur dirt he pussies out and immediately leaves the party lmaooo
On the Roman and Gerri argument, I thought her line that she could’ve got him there was interesting. She could’ve, but made the decision to side with Logan with respect to the GoJo deal at the end of season 3. She asks “how does it serve my interests?” As much as Roman pissed her off, I think that she would’ve acted in her interests regardless of whether or not they were in better terms. It felt like something to spite him, in the same vein as the Roman comment that she was bad at her job last episode, despite the fact that she was quite fucking good at it. Maybe I’m wrong, but that’s how it felt to me.
When you guys talked about how personal abuse is brushed aside but trying to pull a fast one to Wall Street is unforgivable, it reminded me of Elizabeth Holmes and Theranos. She drove a scientist to suicide and jeopardized millions of people with their health test results (some with cancer) and yet she was caught for defrauding her investors. Money always speaks louder than everything else…
@@lestonthompson8495 it's just a guess actually... Cos the show has been so good and surprising us every step of the way that the obvious hardly happens, so i thought they might take a very different ending. I'm sure I'm wrong cos i haven't predicted anything right about this show so 😀
@@josepharmani5827 I think Matsson is baiting Kendall with Gojo, he knows Kendall hates him and wants to beat him, so he puts Gojo a failing company out there for bait Kendall buys it, then Matsson uses the money from the sell to buy Pierce a much stronger more established company. Logan would have never bought Gojo if he knew it was failing, but he did want to buy Pierce.
@@lestonthompson8495I heard that and thought of Tyrion feeding information to little Finger, Pycelle, and Lord Varys about who Cersi's daughter would get married off to. Just to find the mole. Feed info to Shiv about the blood, then India numbers to Ebba and the boys.
Yeah, Connor and Will have been great this season as they were honest with each other. The Tom-Shiv explosion was bound to happen. And it's a great Emmy submission. I don't buy that Frank is on Ken's side. To me, it looked like he was thinking, oh, Ken, what are you doing.
Is it just me or has Kendals divorce taken forever to settle!!! Lol it’s been going on since ep 1! I’m feeling very skeptical about this Ebba storyline as it’s not passing the smell test and seemed to be a bit too easy for her to spill the tea to strangers about Madsen…. Might be a setup. Thoughts? 🤓
Yeah my thought process watching was like "Oh maybe Ken and Rome can get Ebba to spill some beans" "Why are they so fucking terrible at this" "Wtf ok she's talking anyway" Gotta be a setup.
Tom saying Shiv shouldn't be a mother echoes what Shiv's mom saying that she herself shouldn't have been a mother, which affected Shiv at the time. Hearing that from Tom cut deep for her judging by the look on her face.
I wonder what the true ratio of minutes in each episode/season is to the minutes of reviewing/critiquing/summarizing/analyzing generated about them… each episode generates its own little content weather system
I still don't get Matsson. I got kinda closer to getting him, but still... The show kinda shows 2 Matssons. One is a good and smart businessman, another is a bumbling idiot (smart, but stupid) dressed up like a pimp doing shit that will end his business career eventually. And it's not that it can't be both, but I'm still not 100% sure about Ebba stuff. Still feels like it's a trap for Roys to fall into. But maybe it's not. But then Matsson is actually kinda stupid, while he probably isn't.
the one thing they never did but I was kind of hoping they would was in the ep this season where Ken is listening to music like in the s1e1 I was hoping they would use the puppets-pusha t song. for those that have not heard it basically pusha raps over the theme of the show while describing the themes of the show. not only would it have fit musically, but it's exactly the type of song ken would be into.
When they were arguing and Tom said she would be fine and she has spent all evening walking around 40 of the most powerful people in the country I thought he was going to direct her attention to the fact she’s hosting all those important people instead of his imminent firing. She’s got the money to live very comfortably for the rest of her life with mansions, helicopters, jets and whatever shit she wants with some powerful people being contacts. It’s a nice showcase of how much self-awareness she lacks t5hat she couldn’t see that.
Listen when the guy told Kendall their not Gil and Logan really stuck w me. ' and thats a good thing ' definitely see (or hope) a eyeopener in the statement
Tom should go to the board tell them he still has files on the Deaths and Sexual Harrasments coming from the Cruise Ships, and he will go public with them unless they fire Kendall and Roman and make him CEO.
Roman wants to BE logan, kendall wants to be better than logan. They have both failed at their own goal repeatedly. But they're both crushing it at their brother's goal.
I mean, yeah, but Willa (Wylla? not sure about the spelling) only supported Connor about staying in the race because she was terrified that if he took the ambassadorship deal she'd have to move to Oman or Somalia with him! It's obvious when you look at her face during the exchange, and Connor's obliviousness only adds an extra layer of irony/poignance. She does support him in that she doesn't ridicule him or actively tries to talk him out of his ambitions, and mostly agrees to what he wants, and that's more than you can say about other people in the show, but she's definitely not blind to the ridiculousness of his pomposity and delusions of grandeur, and the actress does a great job of showing Willa's true feelings through small expressions.
@@AW-uv3cb it’s true but it’s good to see she actually has some sway over his decisions now. Instead of him just “asking” by telling her where kind of dumb shit he wants to do next like he used to, he is legit asking her what she thinks about stuff now and he listens to her.
Plenty of answers. First the election is 10 hours away at this point, so I mean she essentially made it through finally. Another is if Conor stays in the race and sticks it out, he won't work for Mencken and she won't have to go live in Oman in the middle east and be under the absolute law of the sultan 😂
@@Spaced92 absolutely, it's quite obvious if you look at her reactions that it's all about not wanting to go to Oman. And it's sort of funny to me that so many people don't seem to see it, like they've also (just like Connor) are taken in by her supportive and submissive behaviour - meanwhile what she really thinks is always written on her face, if only Connor would really look at her and try to see what she actually thinks, not what he wants her to think (she still does support him in that she doesn't ridicule him and generally agrees to do what he wants. But it doesn't mean that she's blind to his absurdities or above subtly manipulating him when her interests are at stake. In short: she's found a rich partner who likes her, is quite nice to her and gives her safety, and she's gonna stick with him even if she thinks his ambitions are a bit ridiculous. And fair enough, that's more that can be said about most relationships in this show!)
Im commenting at the start of this podcast, but i have to say, I saw a moment or two where Roman REALLY morphed into Logan in his speech and actions. I truly believe that Roman will come out on top in the long run. Just my opinion... Also, Mattson had me laughing so hard this episode 😂, he was enjoying every awkward moment and sibling argument lol. Greg.... oh Greg.... that guy has become heartless 😂😂😂
I was lost for a while now when Kendall kept letting Roman get a pass with his huge fuck ups starting with giving Menkeen free reign over the way ATN covers him and the election, then the blow up on the mountain with Mattson, then his two bone headed firings, but now it makes sense Kendall is setting Roman up to hang himself when it's time to pick the permanent CEO but unlike Logan the way Kendall is doing it his siblings can't actually blame him even though they will. I think this show ends with Kendall winning the "crown" but losing his entire family a truly bitter sweet ending.
I basically mostly find the female characters somewhat okay. They’re all selfish no doubt, though they are not straight up abusive and sometimes fascist criminals. I’ll take Gerri, Shiv, Willa, Karolina any day over Roman, Mattson, Ken, Mencken. Eeek.
Just an observation that I thought is quite funny: in all the videos on this episode that I've seen people say that Willa truly supports Connor and that's why he decides to stay in the game, like it's so sweet that he's finally got someone who believes in him... meanwhile it's very clear from the acting and the little half-words that the only reason she sides with him about staying in the race is that she doesn't want to live in Oman or Somalia if he becomes an ambassador!!! She knows he's got no chance of winning so convincing him to stay in the race and not take the Oman offer is the best guarantee of her life staying more or less the way it's now, rich and safe, which is what she wanted :-D (and she never thought his candidacy was a good idea in the first place - though it's true that ultimately she never undermined him, so yeah, they probably are the healthiest relationship in the series. Although that's not saying much haha!). So these commenters are a little bit like Connor in this case: all seemingly taken in by her subtle manipulation, because she's been doing such a good job of playing the supportive and submissive partner, but if you just properly look at her face (which Connor hardly ever does in those crucial situations), you know exactly what she's really thinking. And it's funny to me because I've seen and been in this situation many times in real life: situations when a man could easily read the true feelings of a woman if he but really looked at her reactions and wasn't so wrapped up in what he WANTS her to think instead of what she really thinks, meanwhile she's simply either resigning herself to it unwillingly or trying to influence him subtly without hurting his feelings or antagonising him.
My prediction havent fully fleshed this out. Kendall slowly burns every bridge over the next 2.5 episodes. Roman has a public meltdown giving the speech at the funeral, Ken uses that at reasoning why he should be the solo CEO. They buy Gojo for an embarrassing low price. Kendall looks like a genius. Shiv sees that there is no place for her at ATN, uses Nate and somehow ends up as the head of Pierce (maybe by swinging the election to Jimenez) Setting up Kendall (alone, hated by his children and family, starting to become feared) vs. Shiv as the heads of the two extreme sides of American political news for the future. The two siblings fighting for decades. Kendall finally getting everything he ever wanted, finally capable and becoming the closest version to Logan he possibly he could.
I think he's supposed to remind us of Musk, whom everyone had taken for a great entrepreneur and business genius... and then he started to actually speak in public and did the whole Twitter debacle, and it turned out that most of his brilliant enterprises where bought from other people with (initially) his daddy's money and that his employees would have to actively try and stop him from ruining his own projects. I mean, it's not a 1:1 analogy, but I think that's the nearest inspiration for the character: a very rich and successful man who turns out to be just a rich weird impostor (I still love Matsson's character though!) 🙂
Kenny becoming his dad on the aspect of neglecting his kids and thinking he’s doing it for them. Hope he can turn that around before the end of the show. I was hoping to see more of Nate. And now that they know about the India numbers hopefully they can do a reserve 🤠 on Matsson.
@3:00 "why can't anybody just be rich ... and that's enough?" - *THIS!!!!* For me, this puts Succession at a negative 5 star handicap. And yet, it's so insanely brilliant in writing and acting that I'm addicted to it anyway. But the inability of the characters to see that they could do anything they can dream of with their lives - even more than the fact that all the characters are so hateable - makes me want to hate the show. But I love it anyway. Like this one - it totally out-Virginia Woolf's Virginia Woolf. Sarah Snook's acting is just so great. But I mean ... pick anything you're interested in. Let's say you love golf. You could hire Tiger Woods to give you daily lessons. If you love music you could either have the greatest teachers or you could go around and find talented people and give them 10 million each. You could go scuba diving in Little Cayman and jet off to London to see a concert. You could have live in masseuses, cooks ... I mean, 10 billion of exposable wealth would let you do anything, help anybody, see everything, experience everything. And yet they sit around and scheme to try to get control of a stupid nazi cable channel that lies to idiot rednecks and makes them do stupid horrible things. AAAAAHHHHRRRHRHRHTHERHHG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Matsson is just awesome anyway, actually. He does have a bit of bad taste, but I really liked those 2 moments. Moment 1 Tom: *some standard ass-kissing pitch* Matsson: Oh, I get it, you're gonna kiss my ass Moment 2 Matsson: I thought they are complicated people. But it's just money and gossip Shiv: yeah, it is just money and gossip
Overall a brilliant episode although the middle part was a bit boring. But the last 20 minutes or so was some of the best in the entire show. Overall 7/10 episode as succession doesn’t have any bad episodes in the entire show.
The idea that Mattson is making the India stuff up as an strategy it's just...not that type of show. I guess Billions does that, but Succession is more unconventional in the sense that not every episode ends with a cliffhanger and a Shyamalan-esque twist. The "Twist" could be that Kendall, looking like he's gonna drop the ball again, actually comes out up top. He wins the crown, but lose his soul. He's high on power but miserable at the same time. That's a twist, but one that makes sense with the theatrical and shakespearian formality of the show. What's also a twist, is revealing that Mattson is not tech bro young Logan, he's just a clown. He's Elon Musk, a supposed genius that hasn't built anything in his life, he's just buying stuff and putting his name on it, while sitting on the backs of scientist and engineers. We kinda got confirmation that the blood stuff is real because Roman, who's quite good at digging dirt on people (he did that with Kendall) found out about it, without Shiv revealing that info. And the potential nuclear fallout that this scenario present for Mattson, basically commiting fraud, makes his insistence on finish the deal quickly, make total sense. He called Kendall on the karaoke episode almost threating him to not fuck the deal. He even dropped more money to bypass Kendall and Roman and send the offer directly to the board, even after Roman outburst. The India numbers where revealed only because Mattson thinks he can get away with anything, without realizing that the toxic relationship with his PR lady (nordic Tom and Shiv dynamic) is gonna sink him.
Matsson is tricking Kendall into buying the Failing Gojo. Once Matsson gets the money from the sell he will buy Pierce, which is what Logan was trying to do. Kendall hates Matsson so much he can't see the play. Logan would have never bought Gojo to get back at Matsson he would have left Matsson with the failing Gojo, and bought Pierce.
@@lestonthompson8495 He's not tricking him. Kendall wants to keep Waystar in the family. Buying Gojo will assure that. This is what Kendall wants. Mattson wants to buy just so the tricky numbers his company has get lost in the merging, he knows Gojo will lose its value once this info goes out, but if the numbers are leaked while the company is already part of Waystar, the narrative will be that everything will be dealt with, with the new administration. This is not Ocean's Eleven.
I agree, I don't like it when people look for overcomplicated twists like "Matsson is just pretending" or "Shiv's child might not be Tom's" or "Greg will take over everything!" - it's not that kind of a show! Most of the twists in it come from people being pushed too far, but they're always true to characters and grounded in political/business/personality realism. It's never the kind of soap opera gotcha moments like: "we know we've never even hinted at it but... Greg was a CIA spy all this time!" or "Shiv slept with someone and it turns out he's their long-lost sibling!" or "It's an evil twin!"
Nerd Soup, have you guys ever seen the show Yellowjackets on Showtime? I feel like a show like that would right up your alley. You guys are the best, been a fan of yours for years now.
I think they never would’ve gotten that information out of Ebba without Kendall. Roman is no where near as charismatic (when they want to be) and was too forward. Kendall asking to bum the smoke away what gained her ear
I think I have it worked out. Succession is all about misdirection, and the biggest one of all is Logan Roy - HE is the McGuffin. In the United States the top job is POTUS. Connor is the only one with skin in that game; the one quietly biding his time in the desert. I reckon there's more weight to the little clues being dropped to his backstory. What do you think..? I think Connor AND Willa win, big time.
Finally 😂 this was a great episode! I loathe Lukas and loved the look on Shiv’s face when she realized she is f-ed is great! Then Tom finally finding his balls and telling her to suck it and everyone get out! 😅
What if the story with Ebba is a fabricated mindf$@k from Lucas to throw off the Roy sibs and conquer from within🤔? I’m still struggling to understand why this Ebba storyline is so easily accessible. First Lucas spills the beans to Shiv all Willy-Neely as though he was bearing his soul to a lifelong buddy - only AFTER seeing how Ken and Roman kept her out the loop. Then Ebba goes full transparency with Rome and Ken at the party. I think what we’re actually seeing is a true master chess player (Lucas) matching up with a bunch of juvenile, self defacing pompous brats who are simply “not Serious People”😅
I thought that Rava scene was her bringing up her as a parent, “where were you?” isn’t an automatic accusation, she said she saw it only maybe from where I thought Rava was very unreasonable with Ken (and further episodes see her going further) she does what she wants with the kids and hates if he did something without talking to her. Ken should’ve kept his cool though agreed.
Kendall saying that he did it for his kids is a repeat of what Logan said during the black tie dinner; like father like son. Somewhat unrelated (maybe not): you imply that there something wrong or maybe abusive by a company requiring people to work from the office (i.e. the place of work) is naive or silly.
PREDICTION: Maddson's business is in the shit and has been playing them all along to not only tank the deal but get them to buy his business too! Cash out of a burning building.
@@justtheworst6383 agree it’s a stretch and I don’t think the case as Logan was involved with him and Logan was smart to say the least. Still interesting take
Lmao, the idea that Kendall would think Lebron is the GOAT and thing Graduation is the best Kanye album is so damn accurate … and reinforces why I heavily identify with Kendall 😂
Ken Cognitive Dissonance is fascinating to me. I think Rava is of Indian decent. Their daughter has the complexion of a black girl. My sisters have lighter skin than Sophie and we are black! It never dawns on Ken that supporting a racist will impact everyone, even his children. Ken thinks that being a gaping A-Hole makes him like his father. Because he can only see his dad from the eyes of a wounded child. He doesn't see any of Logans diplomacy skills. Logan hired the best and trusted them. Ken hires the best and doesnt let them get a word in. And Shiv.... her lack of loyalty, is why Logan ultimately didnt trust her. He even asked Roman once, "Can she be trusted?" The answer is ALWAYS NO. Tom, now has nothing to lose and everything to gain. She betrayed him the moment the party started. Never had the courage to Stand By Her Man. I knew she was totally soulless whan she agreed to take the pic with a Right Wing Racist, after all her so-called convictions. She was aliberal to build moral credit, and an air of righteous indignation that she could use to create personal power. I think he should nuke the whole family.
How can no one see or point out that Tom’s gift to Shiv, the scorpion paperweight is a massive mis step, passively covert, not funny at all. The gift guaranteed to BREED contempt and it did. Also don’t and prob never will grasp why Tom is such a huge kiss ass. (the shit in my mouth & tell me it tastes like candy ((whatever the line was))) is so belittling and humiliating, yet Tom accepts it.
Unless you are born under the Scorpio zodiac sign, you would have to wonder why you would receive that paperweight as a gift ---- even under the pretext of a joke. Tom made reference to Shiv a sexy little minx at breakfast, so if the paperweight was meant to signify that then . . . . In my opinion, Tom is a kiss ass because he will do just about anything to maintain his lifestyle, suits, watches and continual quest for "nice" things. Remember, he was always concerned about money and how to get it. Step 1: court and marry Shiv, whose biggest asset is her wallet. "First, I look at the purse."
Todo el episodio fue tornado que arrasaba con todo, incluso co la idea de la democracia. Que sensaciones encontradas me da sabumiendo que es un año electoral.
I was not sure that Ebba was truthful. It was a spilling of information too freely to people that she does not know. She comes across as professional as Karolina, who I believe, would not spill corporate information. Also, I think that Matsson really has some knowledge of coding, etc. He is not his company's top engineer, but I don't think that he is a a "here, you do it" Tech leader. In addition, Matsson's telling Shiv that he sends blood the Ebba strikes me a peculiar also. Shiv, I think, spoke to freely about the state of her marriage, so Matsson added a misery loves company scene. I don't think too much about the corporate bookkeeping because I think they are all doing "creative" accounting.
Kendall makes the wrong moves and isn't Logan, but Logan made even worse deals and moves. Logan's cruises scandals made Roman's dick pic look tame in comparison. Logan getting 3 billion dollars in debt was worse than Kendall's bad moves. Some of Kendall's bad moves were a failed attempt to clean up Logan's mess. Logan only won by getting lucky.

spot on. And he's right. Roman has good instincts but is an emotional mess, a man child of a broken boy
@@MegaDiva1999they're all adult-children
Greg the Eggxecutioner - that's an interesting spin. "I look like I care, but I actually don't".
Even the Swedes were somewhat impressed.
"I mean, you gotta do what you gotta do!"
"... Do you tho??"
Not true
I was almost expecting Tom to jump from the balcony. But, well, he loves his money, his watches and his career.
why jump. Sell the watches and keep living
I legitimately thought that exact same thought
Why shoulnt he love it, he worked for it. Unlike most of the roys.
Agreeeee!!
Did anyone else reflect on what Logan said in the family therapy session? It was all for the kids was the same sentiment echoed by one of "the kids"
Yes and then I remembered Kendall wasn't in that therapy session, so he doesn't know Logan said it twice and his siblings called Dad out.
@@FoeFren You are so right! I completely forgot he was off on a bender.
I did!!
1) “Your sense of who you are is THAT fucking thin/You’re too transparent to find in a book.”
2) “You wouldn’t be a good person to have children”
3) “It’s not my fault that you never got his (Logan’s) approval.”
Tom throwing serious haymakers in that whole exchange.
Did Tom know Shiv was pregnant?
@@filo5564 nope, he still has no idea
Alan Ruck is so underrated! How he conveys Connor, the least meaningful Roy, is so refined. Connor comes off magnetic, confident, so convinced of his own reality, and so hilarious. I love his portayal. The actor should get more roles.
He was great on Spin City back in the day and of course Ferris Bueller.
I think Succession is going to open up an entirely new era of roles for Alan Ruck and I'm here for it.
Been waiting all day lol
Same I've been refreshing
literally
I loved the wine subplot in this episode. In the argument, Tom says that Shiv tried to appease him with some "undrinkable wine" after he dodged prison. Tom was offering the wine to Nate and telling him it separated the connoisseurs from the day drinkers, but in reality, Tom just wanted his enemy to drink a bunch of terrible wine and feel like he had bad taste. Frank even commented that the wine smelled like wet dog.
I can't believe you had the basketball GOAT convo without bringing up the fact that he named his son after Allen Iverson
Two classic Logan lines that had a lot or relevance to scenes in this episode:
"Everything I have done, I've done for my children.." Kendall/Rava secene
"Sometimes it is just a Big Dick contest.." Kendall/Mattson scene
You guys and Dr. Ramani are my top faves to listen to post Succession episodes this season (sad but for this to be the last). I so agree, the writing is so fuji apple crisp!! acting is top notch as usual!
Dr. Ramani is great.
Yes! I always watch her analyses.
literally when I clicked on this video I thought to myself "Nerd Soup and Doctor Ramani are the only Succession recaps I need"
Kendall will burn Greg if he needs to he's already told him that before.
Kendall will burn anyone, he's become his father.
No way. Did you catch the scenes where Roman almost embodied Logan. Speech patterns, Body language, and that cold demeanor without any of Roman's usually sarcasm or wierd jokes and expressions... I am betting on Roman to take over in the end.
@@erinc.1610 I think Romans too impulsive, his hiring firing for example
@@jacoenglander9608 I think Logan was probably impulsive too in his younger years. Logan himself turned on Jerry and in a pretty impulsive/emotional way... age settled him down as well as learning and growing the company. Out of all 3 kids, Roman is the most like Logan imo. Great show!!!

At this point, they’ll do an episode called “Cousin Greg’s Goldeneye Tournament”, and it’s going to be about Karl going postal on the Roys.
Kendall is just a rich Michael Scott.
Omg this hilarious
Real. Just as obnoxious, just as creative
I feel like there's a chance that Mattson and Ebba might be playing the Roys, and that there's nothing wrong with their numbers at all.
What would be the reason?
@@lestonthompson8495 it's just a guess actually... Cos the show has been so good and surprising us every step of the way that the obvious hardly happens, so i thought they might take a very different ending. I'm sure I'm wrong cos i haven't predicted anything right about this show so 😀
Idk multiple ppl have backed it up and it only prolongs the deal which Matsson seems eager to get done asap

Thoughts? 🤓
Def a setup
I was just gonna post the Ebba tactic of her playing the Roy's as a setup but you beat me to the punch.

Yeah my thought process watching was like
"Oh maybe Ken and Rome can get Ebba to spill some beans"
"Why are they so fucking terrible at this"
"Wtf ok she's talking anyway"
Gotta be a setup.
Tom saying Shiv shouldn't be a mother echoes what Shiv's mom saying that she herself shouldn't have been a mother, which affected Shiv at the time. Hearing that from Tom cut deep for her judging by the look on her face.
I wonder what the true ratio of minutes in each episode/season is to the minutes of reviewing/critiquing/summarizing/analyzing generated about them… each episode generates its own little content weather system
probably like 1:2 since the show is just that dense
I still don't get Matsson. I got kinda closer to getting him, but still...
The show kinda shows 2 Matssons. One is a good and smart businessman, another is a bumbling idiot (smart, but stupid) dressed up like a pimp doing shit that will end his business career eventually.
And it's not that it can't be both, but I'm still not 100% sure about Ebba stuff. Still feels like it's a trap for Roys to fall into. But maybe it's not. But then Matsson is actually kinda stupid, while he probably isn't.
He’s clever; it’s all a ploy and a trap; remember: they (the Roy kids) are not serious people
the lebron and graduation jokes are so fucking hilarious and accurate
Kendall would for sure be a Jordan guy
the one thing they never did but I was kind of hoping they would was in the ep this season where Ken is listening to music like in the s1e1 I was hoping they would use the puppets-pusha t song.
for those that have not heard it basically pusha raps over the theme of the show while describing the themes of the show. not only would it have fit musically, but it's exactly the type of song ken would be into.
What my wOMAN thinks about Oman 😂😂😂

Tom should go to the board tell them he still has files on the Deaths and Sexual Harrasments coming from the Cruise Ships, and he will go public with them unless they fire Kendall and Roman and make him CEO.
Roman wants to BE logan, kendall wants to be better than logan.
They have both failed at their own goal repeatedly.
But they're both crushing it at their brother's goal.
How’s Roman been better than Logan?

I absolutely love Wylla and Connor
Don't want to excuse the zoom firings, but it was mentioned that the people on the call were their international staff 16:38
It doesn't need to be excused because people are fired by email and zoom everyday
Ambassador talk was fun. I feel like Connor was very wrong to turn down Slovakia or Slovenia. Very nice places.
Right and I imagine Willa would fit in nicely, she's tall and well dressed
Funny but - I think it’s a no for the slo’s LOL
Can't be a nice place if it doesn't have nukes.
Jesse Armstrong said episode 8 is the one that’ll likely shock us the most!
Inb4 Tom and Greg team up to gun down the Roy siblings
I feel that Episode 8 is the rise of Connor - election kingmaker.
I love how getting shitty wine is on par with going to prison for Tom.
It's like untying a knot; it all comes together as the knot gets unraveled.
The question I had is why did Willa tell Connor to keep running for President?
My only answer is she’s literally trolling the family.
You know what there's a part of me that actually thinks she really loves him and wants to be supportive, even though she knows it's fruitless
She doesn't want to go to Oman. The only reason to dropout is to fish for ambassador jobs. And yeah both of them generally support each other.
Eeek.
Yayyy I was just thinking about this review whoop whoop : )
Connor and Willa seem like the kind of couple that would be in a Real Housewives of…NY whatever.
How much you want to bet, it’s discussed at least?
Shiv sees that there is no place for her at ATN, uses Nate and somehow ends up as the head of Pierce (maybe by swinging the election to Jimenez)
Setting up Kendall (alone, hated by his children and family, starting to become feared) vs. Shiv as the heads of the two extreme sides of American political news for the future. The two siblings fighting for decades. Kendall finally getting everything he ever wanted, finally capable and becoming the closest version to Logan he possibly he could.
This is brilliant.
Give Kendall the full Michael Corleone arc and cement this show as a modern day parable of how becoming a CEO destroys the soul.
Thank you, great review and thoughts again
Another great episode. They said there's parallels with a real life tech bro who isnt actually a coder. Who is that.
@@AW-uv3cb cheers. I actually thought musk founded tesla and was more hands on than it seems he was now I've read more. Seems I fell for the PR.

The allure of power is too much (or in Roman’s case he doesn’t want to sit around all day like a spoiled brat)
Matsson is just awesome anyway, actually. He does have a bit of bad taste, but I really liked those 2 moments.
Moment 1
Tom: *some standard ass-kissing pitch*
Matsson: Oh, I get it, you're gonna kiss my ass
Moment 2
Matsson: I thought they are complicated people. But it's just money and gossip
Shiv: yeah, it is just money and gossip
"let's go 80's Kubrick on them, yeah? Full metal jacket this shit?" is character spec writing
The only reason Tom and Shiv should stay together is to keep them out of an open and unwitting market.
Ep should be titled “ended relationships”, Tom/ Shiv, Kendall/Rava, Roman/Gerri.
Overall a brilliant episode although the middle part was a bit boring. But the last 20 minutes or so was some of the best in the entire show. Overall 7/10 episode as succession doesn’t have any bad episodes in the entire show.
7/10!?!?!?!? You sick fucking bastard!
I think the whole episode was entertaining
Amazing … they were all left millions but they still want more!
Sarah Snook was/is really pregnant so I don't think they could eliminate the fictional baby. She'll only be getting bigger during filming. :o
3:07 because if you're already rich, you want power
The only way an ending would work for succession is Either No one gets anything or all of them get a chunk of everything.
Gerri FTW
She’s a kingmaker! Maybe it’s Greg, backed by Geri at the end. 😂
I think what we’re actually seeing is a true master chess player (Lucas) matching up with a bunch of juvenile, self defacing pompous brats who are simply “not Serious People”😅
I thought that Rava scene was her bringing up her as a parent, “where were you?” isn’t an automatic accusation, she said she saw it only maybe from where
I thought Rava was very unreasonable with Ken (and further episodes see her going further) she does what she wants with the kids and hates if he did something without talking to her. Ken should’ve kept his cool though agreed.
I'm calling it now, Connor is gonna win Alaska and hilarity will ensue
All the girl boss edits of shiv 3 weeks ago have aged like a bag of milk
I dont know if I buy the whole Matsson sending bags of blood to Ebba or the whole India thing?
Agree, a smoke screen
Kendall saying that he did it for his kids is a repeat of what Logan said during the black tie dinner; like father like son. Somewhat unrelated (maybe not): you imply that there something wrong or maybe abusive by a company requiring people to work from the office (i.e. the place of work) is naive or silly.
PREDICTION: Maddson's business is in the shit and has been playing them all along to not only tank the deal but get them to buy his business too! Cash out of a burning building.

I think he should nuke the whole family.
the daughter is adopted
Philly has corner stores… either Papi Stores or the A-rabs. Same thing, better, more original, cheese/steak dish.
So love thos show
Todo el episodio fue tornado que arrasaba con todo, incluso co la idea de la democracia. Que sensaciones encontradas me da sabumiendo que es un año electoral.
Three “very’s”, 😂
Kendall is absolutely a Lebron fan, and an avid Curry hater
An episode "all about deception", but Ebba is truthful?
Madsen needs this merger to outgrow his India problem.
