    I’ve been saved out of new age also and so am alert to any therapies which are not in alliance with Christianity. We are both lucky to be awakened. For me it was 2024. Thank you Jesus! And thank you for your research. And for helping us!

      You're so welcome, Leigh. Same. I've tried to have an open mind about it even after this video but the more I come across about it the less I can turn a blind eye to the information. Yeah, those of us with the new age-y past have to be even more careful about things like this! Yes, He is xxx Ask Him to show you how to heal xx

    Thank you so much for this! This is exactly the advice I was looking for. I've been very interested in Polyvagal therapy and have been considering trying some somatic exercises for PTSD related to disabilities. Thanks for sharing your thoughts so clearly and graciously ❤

    Thank you for sharing this. I will use this info to help and warn people that are still doing this practice. I had a sense it was divination when I first saw it. This proves it is.

    My experience with somatic therapy started this week. I started somatic therapy randomly without even knowing what it was. (I’m a born-again believer coming out of the occult. God pulled me out of some messy, scary stuff, I praise him for his mercy). Since coming back to Christianity I’ve really been struggling with anxiety and fear. Prayer has helped, praise and worship have helped, but I have to pray long prayers, begging for help, or listen to praise and worship in the shower to stay calm. It’s been rough. I started to tap my face one day while in the shower and it helped. I think it is a spin-off of somatic therapy (EFT tapping). I work at a school so I always pray the Lord’s prayer in class over my students and myself and it helps me through the day. Today I started to tap my face throughout the day and it kept me calm, so I thought oh this must be of God. This must be good. So when I got home I decided to do some research. The word somatic came to mind, so I looked it up along with the word Christianity, and now I’m here.
    This video has shown me that I still struggle with aligning with Nicolaitan doctrine. (i.e. being a Christian who still tolerates and engages in occultist beliefs and practices.) Which is something that Jesus hates, so I’ve decided to stop because of the information you presented. The prayers take longer and I still feel anxious, but at least I know it’s safe. (It’s like going to the gym vs. starvation to get slim. The gym takes longer but it makes you stronger not weaker.)
    I’m a little sad, it does help, but as you said as Christians it is better to leave it alone. I learned the hard way. Not all new agers come back to Christ with this much trauma, it is exhausting to unlearn. I’m grateful for your ministry and for the research that you did and shared with us all. Thank you again. May God bless you and your ministry.
    Also, what do you think about the Abide app? They have meditations and they have helped me a lot. It's all Christ-centered and they lift up and honor God in a way that I believe is good, but idk I still seriously struggle with discernment. It's not good.😔

    This sounds a lot like chiropractics and the enneagram. Thanks for the video.

    I’m glad I watched your video. I’m an ex new ager too.
    BetterMe is an app that offers somatic exercises to help lose weight. I just tried the first exercise. I used to do Yoga, so the first exercise had yoga movements in it. But then it wasn’t yoga. It was just gently moving your body. I really need something. I’m a special needs teacher and all the stress of the job is taking a toll on my mind and body. Any alternative suggestions? I want to lose my belly but I don’t want to sacrifice my salvation

    • @TheWellnessAbbey
      @TheWellnessAbbey  3 місяці тому +1

      Hey Crystal! Yes, gently moving our body isn't 'yoga' and arguably was usurped by yoga which is very unfortunate because now many of us can't even gently move our bodies without worrying whether we're doing something sinful! I get what you mean- I'm usually under an immense amount of stress myself and am trying to find/come up with something gentle and nourishing that's an alternative to yoga. I don't have any alternative suggestions yet (the ones I do have are youtube videos that are called 'non yoga stretches' but you'll find that there are 'yoga poses' in those videos- it's debatable but I think that yoga appropriated some common bodily stretches and made them 'yoga poses' but perhaps before yoga was a think people were doing those stretches and so they are not demonic/dangerous in and of themselves. It's hard to know what the 100% truth is in this area and so I think we need to just go with discernment- what holy spirit is telling each of us. If you want to check out those videos, search something like 'non yoga christian stretching' here on UA-cam. I hope to create my own flow of movements in the next couple of years or so that we as believers can do without the worry)

      I'm honestly not sure about those as they are taught in very specific ways in yoga etc. which may make something which should be clean and beneficial suddenly unclean- pray about them- ask Holy Spirit for guidance and discernment 👍🏽

    I think to discredit somatic therapy because the founder advocates shamanism is not very wise. Somatic therapy is deep, very deep. It encompasses knowledge of the body that is indisputable. Have you engaged in somatic therapy? Have you listened to Peter Levine explain his method?
    I wonder if you do the same research into the creators of other forms of medicine?

    • @TheWellnessAbbey
      @TheWellnessAbbey  2 місяці тому +1

      @@nicholasstephens4168 Shamanism isn't the only point mentioned in this video, but that alone *would* actually be enough to turn me off someone now that you've mentioned it... If you don't try to live by biblical standards then someone who advocates shamanism wouldn't bother you. Yes I have- a few months before this video (how I found doing it isn't relevant though). He isn't someone I want to listen to, personally. Trauma manifesting in- and effecting- the body is a principle I agree with, but that principle existed before Peter Levine, so I'll choose to learn about it without him for the time being. I have about yoga (more research than i did with somatic), I have about Pilates, but ones other than those- not yet. If I consider incorporating them into my health & wellbeing routine then I will 👍🏽

      Thanks for this. Looked up bed time stretch and somatic etc came up. There was definitely a strong hesitation within and I decided to look it up a bit first. Your video has told me the little I need to know and I agree with
      Your stance. Non spiritually inspired ways of relieving trauma in the body must
      Exist. For one - time spent in Gods manifest presence leaves
      You feeling so free and rejuvenated. il stay with that for now.
