Two overviews in one day for some great books?! Now you’re really spoiling us, man!! This is a friggin sweet run, and I hope everyone is getting it. You’re the best, Omar! :) Algorithm gang!
Never read the material here before even though i am a massive spiderman fan. This reminds me of learning to crawl by dan slott. I really enjoyed the story he did by expanding the early days so i know i will really enjoy this book.
I remember wizard bigging this one up in the 90s as the only good Spider-Man book during the clone saga days. Reading this in conjunction with Spider-Man epic vol 1-2 will be fun.
Just a small correction. The Untold Tales first issues were available before Amazing Fantasy 16-18. I bought them when they came out. Amazing Fantasy 16 was available at the same time than Untold 3 or 4.
Once again Omar you have convinced me that I need a new Omni that I might have overlooked. I have a lot of great stuff thanks to watching your videos. Keep it up!
I love the issue that reveals Logan aka Wolverine knew and technically saved his life while in the womb of Peter’s mother, Mary. Peters’s father, Richard was also there and almost fainted when Logan revealed when Mary was pregnant. They were connected long before their first meeting.
Fantastic series. When I first discovered omnibuses some years back and then discovered that Untold Tales received one, it became my most sought possession. I've had it pre-ordered for months now.
These are my favourite overviews when you talk about the stories and give us info. Have some of the later issues and amazing fantasy 16-18 where some of my first comics I read great story and art.
I've never heard of this title and now I'm very curious to read this. Thanks for letting me know! I'm currently reading the fourth Epic collection of Amazing Spider-Man and I love it! So with a similar vibe, I think I'll dig untold tales
I'm in the middle of ASM vol 1 right now, had shelved it for a while and was thinking about returning but now I think I'll wait to get this and then use the provided mapping to intertwine them as I go!
Actually just sold my original printing in anticipation of grabbing the Complete Collections. Because I'm a nutjob and like to have a uniform format on my shelf. I champion this series very hard and think it's a PERFECT complement to ASM Omnibus Vol 1/Epic Vol 1-2. It's executed so well from Busiek Olliffe. Such a bright spot for many Spidey fans in the thick of the meandering Clone Saga. Feel like this is the perfect book to shelf right before all your other Spidey, then Spider-Girl right at the end, or after Clone Saga. Maybe we'll get Spider-Girl Omnibuses one day... 🤔 But first they better finish those Complete Collections!
Love your overviews, they always help me decide if I will be picking a book I’m on the fence about. @ Uncanny Omar Keep up the great work on these, they are really appreciated.
I read some issues of this when it was reprinted in the UK. They had this series along with clone saga issues. The issues back to back really show bad the clone stories are compared to Untold
Looking forward to this one! I could never find this series on a consistent basis when I was a kid. It looks like they incorporated the Parallel Lives retcon with MJ (or was that retcon introduced earlier than that?) Also, I would read a MJ/Gwen book with a classic Archie art style.
This was my favorite Spider-man series to come from the 1990s, after the image guys left. Kurt and Pat nailed the silver age aesthetic as did the other collaborators. The MJ issue came after a Marvel Graphic novel in the late 1980s “Parallel Lives” which is the original retcon we see that Kurt uses for the similar story in issue 13. I can’t begin to tell you how heartbroken i was, when this series had to end. But you lived through the “Clone Saga” also, so you have an idea... For me though, it was like the gut punch that was Claremont being fired off X-men. On another note...I blame you when ever a box shows up with at least 6 different types of collected edition to my wife. Sorry, someone has to fall on the sword....🤣🤣🙃😉
Still have that issue w Mary Jane(among others)loved this series and i m finally gonna be able to have it in its entirety..classic Spidey..classic Busiek..what more can you ask???
Hey Omar, I found this book online last night and bought it. I remembered you did an overview video of this and having just watched it again, I'm really glad I bought it as it will sit nicely next to my other ASM Omnis. Given the timeline of the material, I might put it between ASM vols. 1 & 2. If it arrives soon, it will be Marvel omni #40 in my collection....whew didn't expect to get this many. But as you know, they're addictive for collectors lol. Love your work Mate. Thanks again. Take care 😊👍
Just wanted to ask as an opinion question does anyone think they will ever release the JMS run in paperback form or will it only be in omnibus form? Thanks
Didn't the first printing have the regular cover as the DM variant and the now variant as the regular cover? I just remember that Villains variant cover being readily available.
@@NearMintCondition hands down eh lol... no thanks for clarifying... I plan on picking up like 4/5 large Omnis next week and only have room for 1 Spidey... sadly
@@NearMintCondition I was originally not diggin the Stern Omni. Found most of the Spec Spider issues a slog for me. Im about 2/3 through now (read some other titles in between) and it did get better. I guess this means I shouldnt get too much from the 70's/80's.
Hi Omar, great video as always! I have One doubt, does the Omni says The order in which the stories here are taking place? I mean between what issues of Amazing? Like some kind of notes maybe?
Does this omnibus have to be read alongside the main continuity in order to understand it or can you read it by itself and have a full cohesive narrative in it?
Are you gonna' be doin' a overview of the Flashpoint omni? It was the one of the first comics I read and started my collection. It was the first omni I've ever pre-ordered.
I picked up the original run of this book and didn't much care for it. If I'm going back to the early days of Spider-Man, I like to go with either Ultimate Spider-Man or the classic Stan Lee material. I wanted to like this book because I love Pat Ollife's pencils, but just look at how Busiek hammers you with those word balloons. I love his work on "Marvels" but it's too much here. If you are going to have that much text, you have to be to the caliber of Alan Moore or Neil Gaiman. I don't need the exposition.
Brilliant overview as always Omar! Best in the business
Had this pre ordered for months. Once we have volume 6 we can finally have a nice long unbroken run of spidey. Great overview Omar my man 👌🔥
THATS WHAT YOU THINK!

Always the happy camper :-P
@@rmc52482 HEY BEST FRIEND! :D
Never read the material here before even though i am a massive spiderman fan. This reminds me of learning to crawl by dan slott. I really enjoyed the story he did by expanding the early days so i know i will really enjoy this book.
I almost forgot about Learn to Crawl. That was one of my favorite stories by Dan Slott, but it was pretty overlooked.
I remember wizard bigging this one up in the 90s as the only good Spider-Man book during the clone saga days. Reading this in conjunction with Spider-Man epic vol 1-2 will be fun.
2:25 had me checking if my headphones were defective😂
Same
👀 Two omnis today
Just a small correction. The Untold Tales first issues were available before Amazing Fantasy 16-18. I bought them when they came out. Amazing Fantasy 16 was available at the same time than Untold 3 or 4.
Omar and Melanie you are spoiling us. I don't know how you have the time to do so many videos every day.
Nice overview, I'm definitely getting the 2 complete collections to go with my Amazing Spider-Man Marvel Masterworks
Great video, looking forward to adding this omnibus to my collection 🙂
Once again Omar you have convinced me that I need a new Omni that I might have overlooked. I have a lot of great stuff thanks to watching your videos. Keep it up!
I have the first print of this, a super fun read. Great companion stories for the Ditko era. Busiek is a such a master to pull this off convincingly!
I could've bought this book when IST had it available with a 60% off deal. Oh the good old days when omnis had big beautiful discounts. Truly missed.
I love Kurt Busiek. Astro City is a masterpiece. I will be picking this up day one.
I love the issue that reveals Logan aka Wolverine knew and technically saved his life while in the womb of Peter’s mother, Mary. Peters’s father, Richard was also there and almost fainted when Logan revealed when Mary was pregnant. They were connected long before their first meeting.

Super excited to get this. Sold!!!!! Awesome overview Omar!
Got my preorder! I can’t wait,

Kurt Busiek + Spidey ? Yes please. I'm in.

The art alone sells this

@@joshuahopwood2303 Sorry, referring to Spider-Girl
I actually prefer the standard cover for this one. Great review, Omar!
Metoo
Great overview of one of my favorite omnibuses!
The 1st 2 issues art looks so good.. i am definitely getting this one.. thanks for detailing out this book
Thank you for doing this overview. I had no idea wha this omnibus even was. Now its going to be purchased on comic book day.
Glad I could help!
A must buy for any spider man fan! Looks like a fun read. Great overview!
Never read or even heard of un-told tales but it seems pretty good
I can’t wait to get this. I got my defenders omni today too. Thanks Omar
So this is a sort of X-men Classic.
Over 43k subs now! Making Comics Great again ! Lol!

SPRING. OF. SPIDER-MAN!
Looking forward to this one, never read these before. I'm attracted to these because the art looks old school-ish even is it's not.
I really hope you enjoy it.
Beautiful book and stories!

HAHAHA. I'll fall on that sword.
May 11 in Australia.
Cant wait.
Yep getting this one most definitely 😁

Amazing!
I don't have amazing spiderman vol 1; would you still recommend buying this one?
Hey Omar,
Any idea when volume 2 of the paperback will be released?
Got the DM variant pre-ordered through my local comics shop.
Nice.
Thanks for the video! Maybe I will pick up the Complete Collection...
Good choice!
Hi, Omar. Do you know what the contents are for the complete collection?
99cent issues collected in a $100 omni🤑☺ oh marvel.
Man does this look sweet! A great series, very under appreciated.
It is so underrated.

Oh, my brother. It’s so good!
Will there be a restock on the David Michelinie Erik Larsen omnibus?
I haven’t heard of that one yet.
can i pick this up without any knowledge?
Personally I recommend getting Amazing Spider-Man Omnibus Vol. 1, then this one (Untold Tales) like a companion
Does this read well as a standalone omnibus?
I ordered the dm variant 😊😊😊
So do I read this before omnibus vol 1 or after vol 1
Please Review Marvel Alien Omnibus
As soon as I get it.
So sweet!
Probably a dumb question. But is this still fun to read and makes senS if yoy haven't read a whole love of that classic spidey era?
Sure thing!
Just wanted to ask as an opinion question does anyone think they will ever release the JMS run in paperback form or will it only be in omnibus form? Thanks

Yeah I believe your right, unless they changed their mind.
Ok ...if you have to choose between this and Sterns run which one do you get.
Stern.

If you look in the back of the book it tells you when to read them.

Im getting the DM Cover
Yessss
can i just read this when i feel like without getting confused ?
You can. If you want a good map check out the back. It will tell you when to read the stories
Thanks Omar. Do you recommend reading right after asm vol 1?
I sure do!
will we get a spectacular spider-man omnibus or epic collection soon?
I don’t know.
Does this omnibus have to be read alongside the main continuity in order to understand it or can you read it by itself and have a full cohesive narrative in it?
You can read it by itself.
