The MARK VII™ is the “Magnum Opus” of Randall Smith’s 50+ year career in visionary amp design. This model takes that knowledge, history, innovation, and performance and distills it into the simplest, most versatile, and smallest 90-watt Mark Series amplifier ever. The 3 Channel, 9 Mode Preamp, coupled with our legendary Simul-Class™ Power section that offers three distinct characters across its three wattage ranges, creates a new Mark icon in terms of adaptability, soulful tube Tone, and magic feel that will serve any discerning player well.
The long-awaited “Simul Seven” leapfrogs its predecessor, the Mark Five, and the secret Mark Six prototype to arrive at the most power-packed Boogie® Mark model ever in terms of Tone, flexibility, compact design, and interfacing. This do-it-all Tone machine delivers legendary Mark performance and adds two new sounds; the throwback yet infamous Mark IIB and a new modern high-gain Mode full of character and attitude aptly named Mark VII.
Joined by iconic features that put Boogies at the top of the dream list, such as on board Graphic EQ, lush Reverb, a seamless Effects Loop, and innovative Power switching, the Mark VII showcases our CabClone IR™ DI Direct Interface. With identical features and great sounding IRs from our standalone CabClone IR, this built-in version allows individual assignment of 8 Rectifier® and Boogie Cabinets per Channel for unmatched tunability of Direct sounds.
The Mark VII is the next Chapter in the Boogie Book of Tone and offers discerning players analog, all-tube sound, Soul, and feel in a smaller, more compact, yet more comprehensive package. With a focus on perfecting icons, bringing back beloved classics, and introducing new realms of modern high gain, all while improving the interface and the performance across all mediums, the Mark VII offers inspiration and freedom across all musical styles. This extraordinary amplifier is available in 1x12 Combo, Head, and Rackmount Head formats.
So happy to hear Blue Jean Baby get some love, one of my favorite ZZ songs
Loved hearing all the bluesy single coil sounds. Could be a real winner for the strat player looking for the cleanish, driven, and lead sounds
This guy can PLAY
I ordered mine yesterday! It’s already on its way and I can’t wait! Great video man!
Stoked. It sounds phenomenal. If it wasn't for the price tag I would have bought it already
max out your card bro, you only live once!! you can pay it off in 6 months to a year!!!!! do it!!!! do it!!!! do it!!!!!!!
@@jamesryder9158worth every dollar, I just don't have that many dollars,,, today. But soon...😂🤣
Great sounding amp and superb playing! Thanks.
Great demo man. You've got the chops for sure. As a fan of the Mark Series. I can't wait to get my hands on one, and try it for myself.
I absolutely loved the opening song! Great demo too.
Awesome vid! I've always been interested in the MK series.. Currently have a dual rec and its fantastic!
Very nice and complete demo ! From Cleanest to Meanest . Well done ! I have to agree, this has to the best , most versatile Mesa Boogie amp thus far ! I have not had a channel switching amp in many years. This MKVII may have changed my mind on Channel switching amps now ! Seems to have absolutely no weaknesses at all ! Mercy !
Sounds great. Nice playing too. The MkIV tone is insane.
Insane that their are REAL mark IV.,s out there that sound nothing like that unless they are dumbed down
This is by far the best demo so far. I liked the BTBAM stuff on the IV. I hope to see a deeper dive into the VII and IIB modes, as they're really the only new ones, and nobody seems to be focusing on them. Yours is definitely the most in depth so far.
Thanks Ben! We will be releasing more from those modes in the near future.
Love the color on the pickups. Very cool.
This amp sounds F'ing great -- excellent playing and demo.
Sounds great. Can't wait to play one
Come on down!
That opening song is awesome! Tasty playing!
Mark series are my fav amps I've ever heard live.
Great presentation !!!
Very clean Glasgow kiss! Nicely done. That’s a tongue twister of a riff.
Rock on!
Gonna have to see about trying one of these when one shows up in my town! \m/
Great demo!
Thanks Joe!
thank you
I think I'd be happy with this amp. Expensive, but quality worth it.
Best demo ive seen
Thanks David!
Much better demo than the Sweetwater one
Thanks!
Fantastic Video! Excellent playing, Well done Sir. This amp sounds amazing I just don't know if it's going to be that much different than my JP2C to justify the price? What pickups are in that Strat? they sound awesome!
Hey Johnny, thank you for the kind words. The JP2C is a great amp and stands totally on its own. The VII is a different beast, where the JP focuses and excels in pristine clean and higher gain, which really suits Petrucci's style. The VII runs the gamut. All the in-between tones from this amp are just insanely good, not to mention the higher gain tones are right in line with the originals. Having the amp running in simul-class is really where the magic happens for me. Cheers!
love the DT clean demos. lol i just put my mark v for sale last night....perhaps i've found a replacement.
Nice playing, wow 🙌
Thank ya!
@@LarkGuitars What are those two tone pickups you put on the Anderson guitars?
@@gunfighterelement1949 they are Bare Knuckle Pickups. VHII
@@LarkGuitars Good choice. Thank you!
Great demo man 💪 Have a drink on me is such a classic fantastic tune
Go Clint!
This is by far the best demo of the Mark VII, well done!
I own a few IIC+ and IV, seeing you own a IIC+ as well, how do you describe the tonality and feel of the VII, in IIC+ and IV modes, does it sound and most importantly feel close to them?
I played the Mark V and I don’t like it. I hope the VII is better in this regards.
Hey Tony, the VII sounds and more importantly feels in line with my old IIC's and IV's. Very immediate and crushing. I highly suggest plugging into one, you will not be let down.
@@LarkGuitars that’s awesome to hear, thanks again. I will be doing my own demo when I get the amp, can’t wait! (you can check my channel, I did a few IIC+ demos).
@@mark_iic Hopefully you pick one up from us. Cheers!
If buying new today, and disregarding the cost. Would you get a mk v, a jp2c, or a mk vii? On the edge here and unsure what to do. I really dig the sounds of the vii but also love the v and jp2c. Playing almost exclusively metal, but I can dabble in som clean and crunch from time to time. But the metal sound is the most important for me. Great video. Havent seen your channel before. Subbed!
If cost were not a consideration and I was focused on metal, I would do the 7. The Mark V offers less options per channel for high gain sounds. On the 7 you have a high gain option on every channel. The JP2C has less modes, again making the 7 more versatile for metal and probably a sound you'd want. The Mark V has no midi either and isn't rackable. And the Mark V seemed to lack gain and didn't cooperate well with a lot drive pedals. The 7 is not what I expected Mesa to do, but they made great decisions on how to streamline it and also make it more flexible.
Asking everyone who has posted a VII demo I have a jp2c on the way but this is sounding a bit more versatile
(Based only on UA-cam demos of both)
Any thoughts on the comparison or preference from the boogie crowd
I’m more of a Marshall, Soldano guy
More of a singing solo player than a chugger, thanks
15:30 Long live the V!!
Seven blues the five away
Great demo! Best do far! Please say what is the riff on 18:17?
It's Never Seen/Future Shock by Between the Buried and Me.
would you describe the MKVII mode as the fat crunch basically?
Yep Randall Smith's masterpiece. I have the combo. Nothing on it that is unusable and all well-thought out for gigging and the studio. No weird "mark I" mode like on the V to bring it down... and I believe the removal of boost and global volume DOES contribute to it's tonal purity of perfection.
have to say, the Mk2b mode was such an incredible open gorgeous tone. probably my favourite tone.
Fat Mode, Channel one at 4:20 - Did you add Reverb or is that built in Reverb?
Reverb is from the amp, Delay used one this part is Suhr Discovery.
This guys a fucking stud!!! I'd rather just hear him play, I don't care what amp it is!! Can you tell me what that intro part was? Was it just an original idea and if so....what else do you have like that? Beautiful melodies over a really cool rhythm. Well done sir!!! and if anyone cares, my MKVII is at home waiting to be unboxed :)
I had a wonderful collection of boogie amps.
Jeez.. gigging them was complicated & soo loud.
I have to say.. You are a great player & could play through the cheapest amp.
Do you think an amp is important?
I personally think the boogies are amazing.
An instrument in their own right.. they make you play better!!
Boy oh boy that is one sexy TA!
What song is at the 11 minute mark?
go clint! badasd dude.
Mesa does it again! Ideally I’d like 16 channels with 10 variable voltages, rectifiers, power tubes, selectable preamp tubes and each channel with 16 tone shaping knobs. (Lower, upper, middle mids, high presence, ice pick treble, dog spectrum treble, muddy bass knobs) I would like this so that’s it’s utterly impossible to find a decent tone and so that I’m constantly tweaking and barely playing. This looks like it gets close.
Doesn't seam to be no difference from the mark five. I'll have to hear one for my self . Cuz I have the mark v and would like to get a new one. But is it really that much different .
Hey Greg, from a owner of all the Mark series amps. There is a huge difference in feel and tonality. The V is a great amp, the VII has more of that raw power, definition and feel from the II-IV variants. I highly suggest plugging into one and checking king it out for yourself! Cheers!
@@LarkGuitars Does it have that super loud fan thats always on? Can u turn it off, like on the Lonestar?
@@Starch1b2c3d4a Fan is not switchable on/off. It is super silent. Barely audible with your ear right next to it.
I just played the Mark VII today at guitar center for a couple of hours. Nice amp. Great cleans. Great high gain and lead. Mark VII mode is fantastic.
It was surprising how quickly the sounds went from clean to high gain without the in between overdriven saturation harmonics I am used to from my Mark V35 and Mark IV.
I enjoy using my Mark V35 to cop guitar sounds from records without needing to use distortion/overdrive pedals. The Mark VII seemed less flexible for that.
I went ahead and ordered a used Mark V 90 watt head today instead because it felt like a good time to do that. I hope I like it a lot. The only thing I have not liked about my Mark V35 is having to manually toggle the switch to go from clean to crunch. I use both of these modes frequently so three channels will be great.
How did the v end up for you?
Hi Nathan. The Mark V90 watt head is my ideal perfect amp. I have a lot of great amps but that one is perfect.
Having three channels is super useful and the clean channel feels like my Twin Reverb which we all like.
@@Nathan-fv8rt
Maybe it’s just me, I remember getting a Mark V 25 & 35 shortly after, but I’ve always felt the Mark series trashes your ears faster than any other amp, meaning their very hifi, or trebly, idk… very abrasive….
But they look super cool so 🤷🏽♂️
I love my 5.25 more than anything and I can’t say I disagree. It’s a vicious sound.
I had to stop playing my V 90 because it gave me really bad ear fatigue every single time I play it. Sounds great recorded but in the room, through V30's... eeeeeessshh.
who is the guy playing ?
We call him Flint, others call him Clint.
@@LarkGuitars where can i find more of his music/playing?
The tones sound like they would work good in a mix, but they are not very flattering by themselves, at least not from a hard metal standpoint, for classic rock and country, this amp should do great. Mind you an overdrive pedal always helps for the more hard rock tones. Now that Gibson has taken over Mesa boogie it seems as though they’re going more towards the classic tones rather than modern metal.
Best demo of this new bad boy. I had the Mk5 for awhile and while it is a versatile "kitchen sink" amp, tonally and more importantly, response wise, it was just ok. Too compressed, lacked attack and kerrang. Bummer because IMO the actual Mark lead channels should always be the crown jewel of a Mark amp.
Sounds like this new Mk7, being a bit more stripped down and with those big transformers has that awesome punch and attack combined with liquidness the old Marks had. This to me is the most important part about any Mark....so I don't get all the b*@#ing and moaning about losing a couple features.
It sounds great ❤but it sounds like all the other mark series amps. It doesn’t stand out !
You could pull your hair out trying to decide between this amp and the JP-2C. Uhhhh!
Sounds alright for a Gibson.
The clean channel sounds good as expected. But the high gain tones still have that Mesa Fat tone . Whereas modern metal needs a quick attack , skinnier bass response. I always fought with my Mesa amps to try and keep the bass response fast and defined. Not that the Mark 7 sounds bad. It doesn't . But companies like KSR, Fortin, Diezel, etc listen to us and give us what we ask for.
Go watch Ola Englunds video on it. I'd say he got a pretty tight tone with it.
Mark iv sounds much much more authentic than the V … via the larger transformer more than likely
Yes Michael, really hard hitting, the way it should be. The transformers play a huge part.
@@LarkGuitars I meant to say mark iv mode on the new VII sounds more authentic than mark IV mode on the mark V . Sorry for the lack of clarity
@@michaelallen981 no worries, I got your meaning totally. Cheers!
@@LarkGuitars what a great review by the way, you’re playing a spot on ! Very clean ! And I really enjoyed you playing Glasgow Kiss!!!
@@michaelallen981 Thanks!
Who's become the biggest rip offs PRS OR MESAGIBSON AMPS.3800$FOR A 25 WATT AMP.RIP OFFS.
90, 45, 25, or 0 if you don’t own one
Your gonna be pissed but here it goes $3800 for a gibson amp.25 watts?really.jesus you can buy SOO MUCH BETTER FOR THAT PRICE .I.E.TWO ROCK, CAROL ANN,DR.Z,CARR,REALLY FOR 3800$ YOU HAVE YOUR PICK OF THE VERY BEST OF WHICH THIS MASS PRODUCED 25WATT GIBSON WOULDNT BE IT.
It’s a 90 watt amp that is switchable to 45 watts and 25 watts per channel. Outside of that, it’s one of the great amp sounds along with all the other amps you mentioned. They are all top of the heap for their sounds. You won’t get liquid Mark 11c+ sounds from a Dr. Z or Carr just like you won’t get a Dr. Z Z-wreck or Carr Rambler sound from the Mark VII. That said you get way more sounds from the Mark VII than from 98% of amps that I can think of.
Gibson product....
lol. Yup.
