Pure Vintage Boogie - The Legendary Mark IIC+ Returns
The Mark IIC+ is pure “vintage Boogie®” and based on the original Mark II (now called the Mark II-A) design, the world’s first “Dual Mode” amplifier containing independent performance modes dedicated to clean and overdrive sounds. The IIC+ model represents the 3rd generation of that game-changing single channel/dual mode layout and includes all the refinements made to that original format over its nearly five influential years. It was also the last model in its family, as the subsequent model would contain three performance modes and be dubbed the MARK III.

The tenon connection is of course strong, but it spoils the whole picture. Immediately associated with handicrafts made by handicraftsmen, such as a box for buttons or a chest of drawers for linen, but not a musical instrument. "Thorn in the secret" is necessary, i.e. spike from inside the corner, then cool,
Let’s hear em’!

Bass giveaway? 😉
I so want one - but I’m never paying that. I work in a custom shop and can build ‘my own’. But if this were more affordable I’d buy it. I still think signature guitars should be marketed to fans, and not investors. This price point is getting ridiculous. I’ve been a collector for 20+ years, it’s not about the money anymore. It’s the principle. Opinions vary, but mine is based on the experience of knowing what goes into building one. This is a versatile guitar, with some complex circuitry. But it’s not a difficult build by no means. 🤷♂️. And that’s what grinds my gears this week.
Can y'all atleast kill that GODAM background guitar instrumental while you're demonstrating? Wtf 😂
Beautiful 🔥🤩 sounds great 🙏👑
Yes Please, Absolute Monster
Great video! Very thorough, and I dig your playing! Choosing the Jimi Hendrix chord over the Jame Brown chord for funk is something I do also, it is awesome the are right next to each other, LOL.
Is it able to do a traditional tele twang sound? I never see videos of people doing blues and country on it
all medium to high gain sounds here are horrible....even a real strat wouldnt do what these are made for, grab a les paul
Replace the caps in the Reissue with American made caps and there's your fullness. The IIC+ is identical to the OG.
For studio purposes they are identical. If you want to scrutinize the raw output, then of course the original will sound slightly warmer and "fuller" because of the aging components. These will be highly sought after for sure, as still only 2c+ (orig, reissue, and JP) offer the "percussive attack" that IMO gives them their signature sound.
You're very knowledgeable and I actually appreciate you going through all the bells and whistles. This is not your standard amp in terms of dialing in tone. This is a good resource.
So is this amp surpassed by the current MB amps? You mentioned the Mark VII ??
@CaptainAhab-im3kd Surpassed... well that really depends on what your needs and expectations will be of the amp. The VII is truly a masterpiece. Super easy to dial in and individual tone stacks for really dialing in your clean - mid gain and high gain tones. Or any combination of those. With built in cable clone, independent reverb, midi.. all the modern amenities we have come accustom to. That carries a lot of weight one should consider these days. However if you want to travel back in time to experience and now own one of the evolutions in modern amp history. The reissue delivers the goods. There will always be trade offs, some for the better some for the worse in terms of function, but the reissue and the VII really are fantastic amps! Cheers!
C+ and the "++" mod were all brainchildren of Mike Bendinelli, that's why Randall Smith didn't want to reissue this amp. Like most CEO engineers (kinda like Steve Jobs in this case) he couldn't swallow his pride and accept that something good happened in his company and that he had no hand in making of it. PS. Mesa 6L6 415s were also a big part of Mark IIC+ and few Mark IIIs No Stripes/Black Stripes along with 105 power transformer. Tested many brands and heard many comparisons, the closest tubes to Mesa 415s are TAD Blackplate RCA-Style 6L6GCs, wholeheartedly recommend them.
This is a gorgeous and incredible sounding guitar model, but it seems so odd to have created THIS, an obvious rock instrument, for a jazz player who admittedly never uses the bridge pickup nor turns the neck p/u volume or tone up past half. These pickups sound very much like Dynasonics to me.
Me, me, me, me, me! You metal guys believe that only your genre exist!
hehe. Funny thing is...all the other videos demoing the reissue and they are not playing metal and so many people complaining about how they dialed in the amp (not metal).
that amp sounds really fricken good
Hi. Jesus here. Would you trade one of those amps for hair on your head? Let me know.
Less talking more playing, I can’t even watch this entire video
Great video! Man I want this so bad now dang it. 😂
To my ears, old one sounds big and bold, new one too tight and thiner
This video captures that Sinister Red like no other pic I've seen. That color blends so well with the neck.
Great video. First one that actually provided a good example of what these can do and how similar they are to the original. I was close to cancelling my order, but you’ve restored faith.
BORING
that comparison at the end ....is that both on same cab / same mic?
@kimblez yes, running both heads through the Mesa Boogie Head Track, common effects loop with same cabinet and mic combination.
42:22
There are times I thought I slightly preferred the original in the demo but it's pretty close! I certainly don't think anyone would bat an eye with the reissue in isolation.
Need to knock a grand off this to consider
They have all the sounds but they don’t have pants to fit him like a 13 yr old chick
29:54 - the contempt on his face is palpable, lol 😅
Stryper used them also. Remember to Hell with the devil... etc.. 👍
Great vid, thanks!🙏
Nice vid! I’ve got 2 originals, was really curious to hear how close they got. How’s does it feel vs the original, guessing pretty damn close yeh?
@nogoogleplus the reissue feels fantastic, all the character is there. Just like my originals, it will only get better with more play and break in. Cheers!
Did you even notice that you have the eq out of the original in the comparison?
@ChrisBrightwellMusic on the original in the comparision, the EQ toggle selection is different. In the middle position it is wired to auto lead mode, up position is global on. Cheers!
Vintage one is just a tad warmer to the touch. Could be something as simple as tolerances or bias. Can’t match bias exactly in a mesa and there’s a range for the color codes. Still, highly impressed.
At 23:10 you click on a pedal, what is that? Is sounds amazing! Like a creamy Eric Johnson lead! Thank you
@J96Jacob that is the lead mode/channel of the amp. What these amps are famous for. Cheers!
@ awesome! For some reason I thought it was still on the clean channel. Seems they were able to recreate the beautiful creamy nature of the simul C+ lead. Can’t wait to compare my original like you did here. Great comparison video
always interesting to see jhow other people dial these babys in. i always run the treble higher and the lead drive lower. i find it a much smoother gain that way.
But riddle me this… should I get this… or the Mark VII?
I pre ordered from my dealership and get serial number “XX89”.. going to pick it up but just now having second thoughts thinking about the Mark VII
Really depends on your what you are wanting out of the amp and usage. If you are wanting the most exact IIC+ replication in terms of function, with all the push/pull knobs, independent cascading controls etc while lacking modern comforts, the reissue. However, the VII is a masterpiece. Independent channel controls with modern features, midi, cabclone IR, independent reverb controls per channel just to list a few. Not to mention a more dial friendly set up..
Try a JP2C also I have one and it’s a killer
i feel like some NOS tubes in the reissue would do wonders
Nice comparison! To me, the reissue had just tiny bit more high end and less 3D quality in sound, but that is typical for a new amp. It goes away as the components start to age.
No its not the age, my OG got recapped in 2020 by Mike b. It doesnt sound this dry and compressed... sorry.
@-jk-2580 very true!
Your sliders are set like mine with the 6000 slider less than the 2200.
Great demo.
I think original is better for leads and reissued for rhythms. I’ve listened through my genelec monitor speakers and beyer dynamic headphones. They are close with subtle differences.
Nice demo, great playing.
One of your best videos to date.
Nice playing! 🎉
I have a Mark IV which I love but since its so hard to dial in just right I don't want to touch the knobs - this feels more approachable because of the relatively simple layout
What kind of tone are you after with the Mark IV? If you don’t mind me asking, I may have some unsolicited advice 😂
@@SovereignKingwhat I mean is I’ve dialled in my ideal metal tone but then don’t want to mess around with it in case I it will take ages to get back to that sweet spot - this is where the mark ii c + appeals
@ Ohh I get you, never mind then!
Great demo.
