  • One passenger was killed and 30 others were hurt after a Singapore Airlines flight from London hit severe turbulence on Tuesday. The airline said in a statement, "Singapore Airlines offers its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased." Captain Shem Malmquist, Boeing 777 captain, aviation safety investigator and an instructor at the Florida Institute of Technology weighs in.
Boeing airplanes have been experiencing similar issues over the past few months, another Boeing 787 Dreamliner plane (Flight LA800) also plummeted several thousand feet abruptly and had to make an emergency landing in March.

The Singapore Airlines fleet are amongst the number well maintained aircrafts in the world. They hire the best pilots and take pride in ensuring passenger safety. The area affecting the flight path is in the province of Suphanburi. There are cross-winds at lower altitudes and low pressure zones creates a vacuum air pocket which causes the aircraft to dip in its altitude. The pilots handled the flight very effectively and safely. The decision to detour to Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi (Pronounced Soo-var-na-phoom) is an excellent first class airport with emergency support and facilities. The airport experiences more than 60-80 million passengers a year.
Sadly a person died but related to the turbulence. However severe injuries experienced by more than 30 plus passengers. It is very important to note that Thailand's emergency services teams showed great focus were well equipped to provide emergency services. This is not likely a Boeing aircraft problem.

And don’t get up and walk around after the crew has said to stay seated. The fact it was a Boeing is immaterial. Typical fox clickbait . Try to find a reporter that knows even a tiny bit about aviation. When you encounter rough air, it’s standard procedure to request another flight level to find smoother air.
Pilots also rely on pireps (pilot reports) to be alerted to rough air.
I don’t know if the expert ever got around to that stuff. He was boring me trying exposing weather radar. He doesn’t even seem to be aware of air carrier procedures.

  • @tg916.th.21

    Hi, aviation journalist here.
Turbulence can affect any type of aircraft, it is not just Boeing.
If it turns out that there was a mechanical failure that may have been present on board the aircraft, contributing to the worsening of the situation, it is most likely that it is the fault of SIA, as the aircraft is 16.3 years old, meaning that ever since it left the Boeing production facility, SIA was in control of its maintenance.
Airlines are also allowed to substitute equipment in from other companies they deem sensible, and may opt to not use the equipment given to them by the manufacturer.
So in conclusion- Boeing did not sell them a defective plane. Turbulence is random, it can affect any aircraft. This is not a quality control issue.

  • @user-ib5mx8ro4k
    @user-ib5mx8ro4k 24 дні тому +1

Boeing brand does play a role in this situation. Different brands do better jobs under adverse conditions. It’s no difference from a defective vehicle performing poorly during unfavorable conditions whereas other branded vehicles which are better engineered are more robust and provide better performance under the same conditions. With Boeing’s track record, it very plausible that the issue lies with the brand not the weather. Vehicles are expected to be engineered well enough to handle a variety of situations to be deemed safe for travel.

This is a ridiculous title… aircraft make and model have nothing to do with turbulence.

Another Boeing 777 dropping from the sky all of the sudden, it is frightening.
    2 dead and 30 injured.
There is something really seriously wrong with these US made planes.
    The software perhaps.
2nd Boeing whistleblower found dead. 😱

I know Boeing has it's eternal manufacturing issues, this is not one of them! Turbulence is indicative to any thing that take to the skies, not just Boeing.
