      That would be a C code 289 originally, not a 302 as they weren’t available until 1968.
Your videos are great. Glad to see young guy’s interested in old Fords.

This whole series of videos was amazing. Thank you to the Olmstead family for allowing the filming of this stuff - we got such a small glimpse of what was all there but what you could see was an amazing collection. As for the "500" - man, bummer it wasn't an original big block car. I really don't know what to do with it. Part of me wants to see it brought all the way back, part of me wants to just let the imagination run and do something crazy. Guess I gotta sleep on it lol.

Thanks for being involved in saving those old Fords and sharing it with everyone. I've heard there were places out west that still had vintage cars that weren't total rust buckets . Everything in the east is pretty much rotted away unless it's been put away in a barn somewhere but I believe just about all the barn finds are gone. I was 10 years old when that Fairlane rolled off the assembly line, so I remember them back when they were new. Personally I'd like to see it restored as an R code car even though it didn't start out that way. Ford had a silver blue color that year that really is sharp. Keep it factory height. Good luck. No matter what you do it'll great.

Craig, I really don't know what too say. These videos were the best. You have the HEART, PASSION and SOUL of a true car guy. You are blessed with the ability to bring that out in other people. Thank you for what you do.
Fairlanes have always been thought of as heavy and slow. I think a great looking simple street sleeper would be fantastic. Again, THANK YOU Craig.

I took my drivers test in a 61 Ford four door victoria (yes I am that old)so seeing the 61 skyliner certainly reasonated with me. As a fellow Cali native (Fresno) I salute you.Have a great 23. 😎 🏁

actually that would be a 289 car, 302 wasnt available until 68. i for one cannot wait until the build starts on the Fairlane. my Dad owned a couple of them in the 70s, one had a 427 sideoiler and 4 spd from his wrecked lightweight 64 Galaxie. green is my favorite color. a FE big block will bolt into that fairlane, the front enginebay and suspension is basically the same as a Mustang or Cougar

Wow......all the cool old ford iron. Brings back memories of my 69 Galaxie 500 I had back in the 90s.
That Fairlane has potential to be a super cool machine, that bad boy is just asking for a big FE tire melting big block. Or a cleveland......or heck build a" boat anchor" sleeper hot rodded 400. They are cheap to be had.
A friend in high-school had a 66 with a hot 390. That car would burn the tires for as far as you wanted it to. Good memories of my youth.

Love the fairlane! Back in the early '80s, a coworker friend of mine had nearly The Identical color 67 Fairlane that he wanted to sell me. It was a 289 3 speed car, ran and drove great! He wanted 250 bucks for it. At the last minute he backed out. Oh well. So good to see you helping someone the way you did! Even better to know that he is in eternity with the Lord now, and enjoying the afterlife! I would like to see you put a 460 in it and make a drag car out of it. Or maybe a good four barrel Cleveland with a four-speed. Either way, those are great finds! Never see those in the midwest at all. I'm jealous! LOL

I built 3 390's for my 64XL. The weight of the motor, antiquity of the power steering system and split intake manifold/head design were major drawbacks. The weight of the motor was very hard on the front suspension. Also power steering pump leaked onto PS ram causing rubber to deteriorate.
The 302 and other 289 family can be made to be as powerful (torque/hp) as the FE and has been brought into the 21st century. Lighter too.

The '66 and '67 Fairlanes were some of the best looking cars Ford ever built. They're worth fixing, but I see a lot of blood, sweat, and tears (and $$$) going into this one!

I almost had one in 71 but it had 3 flat tires and a dead battery ended up with a 63 Rambler instead

67 fairlane 500 was the first car my parents bought brand new. I love the body lines and stance. Been looking for one for years in the Midwest. I say bring it back to daily driver status. Looking forward to the galaxies finished and then the 67.

Craig all I can say is wow man this video is touching good job 😥
And the 67 its nothing to really save as a factory stock restoration.
As an old drag racer from the late 70s. That car deserves to be a big block 427 or 428 tubbed strip car 11.20 12.30 superstock

that may not have been a high dollar car when it was originaly built but the fairlanes where in my opinion over looked as a performance car and sold as an entry level family car yeah you could get a gt or gta but they pushed the Mustangs as the performance car to buy. I currently have a 67 390 2bbl auto bench seat colum shift 500 2 door drum brake car thats being transformed into a small block auto car disc brake car that going to be my daily driver. loved the series of vids on this collection he was truly a visionary and man after my own heart. thanks Craig awesom vid

The documentation that you did was not only a service to the family, but the car community as a whole. Even though this one is not everything you thought it was, it has such a great story to go with it, I’d love to see you put it together in a way to honor the history and legacy of its existence and not make a drift style car. Build a hot-rodded big block out of it!
