In Defence Of: Two Hearts - Men At Work (w. Liam Hair)

- Welcome to the next episode of my series In Defence Of. Today Liam Hair joins me to defend Men At Work’s third and final studio album Two Hearts. This album didn’t do nearly as well as their first two albums (though it still went gold in the US), and was critically lambasted at the time and is still considered a dud. Liam & I will argue that this album is long overdue for a critical reassessment.

I enjoyed seeing your autograph copy. I need to listen to more of Men At Work discography.
There’s only 3 albums, and they’re all good!
Ahh this is a band that brings back great memories.....Business as Usual was huge in Canada and I bought the album as soon as it came out....one of the first albums I had in my Walkman back in 1981....they did Canadian University Tour in 81 or 82 and I caught them on Halloween night with Mental as Anything at Western University in London Ontario.......everyone dressed up and one of my top three shows of all time.....amazing show for one album out.....loved Overkill and It's a Mistake from Cargo but the sound was getting a little tired to me....never bought Two Hearts but will listen to this today...thanks
Thank you!
Two hearts I think is fantastic and also I'm a fan of Colin Hay's first solo album 1987s looking for Jack as well but for two hearts I think is an album that points the direction Colin Hay would go in his solo career also I think fans weren't ready for Colin Hay to grow and mature as a songwriter a lot were expecting the funny and goofy men at work from the previous 2 albums so this may have come as a shock to the fanbase when this album was released
I think Looking For Jack has a more organic sound than Two Hearts. But I agree with the songwriting aspect.
Stay at Home is definitely my favorite on this album. Reminds me a bit of Oingo Boingo.
Stay tuned, in two weeks time I’ll be doing an Oingo Boingo video!
Unfortunately, I’m really only familiar with their first two albums. This record barely made a ripple here in America, so l never bothered with it. I recall the first two singles, but they never grabbed me like the hits from the other albums. Now, after seeing this episode, you two groovy cats have piqued my curiosity. Plus, it would make a neat little album ranking show as well. 😉
Keep up the unique content, Mista ‘legs!
Cheers from The Big Apple. 🍎

Thanks Davey!
Great video Daniel and Liam, I’ve not heard this album nor the other 2 albums by Men at Work but I’ll definitely check them all out!! 😊👍
The two previous albums were practically perfect from start to finish. So this 3rd was a huge deception
I’m not sure deception is the right word, it is a departure. Bands need to evolve & grow.
