My grandson wants to join the military. He’s going to watch this video wether he likes it or not. Become better everyday, always be better everyday. Helps with every aspect of endeavour. I read a new case yesterday that gave me a new knowledge of an intricate area of law I thought I knew so well and I’m a retired trial lawyer. Learn every day, be better every day.
Big Ern you and Kelly : I wish i would have heard this interview 50 years ago. It would have made things a lot easier in life. I'm not saying I had a bad life but thing would have been different if i would have had some coaching from you guys. Man that pod cast was good..
Awesome Podcast… great information! If you are about to start your private pilot, do you recommend starting out with electronic logs and not even do paper logs?
Hi Ern , I have been retired from aviation for almost 5 years ; now I am planning to fly professionally once again my TT is over 7k’s ,in my 40’s . any words of advice on how to get back and successfully apply for an airline job . Thanks beforehand for your words of advice . 👍🏽
nice guy! I just never got the "tell me about a time" questions at the interviews. I don't think that they're a good measure of the 3 attributes that Kelly outlined. You have to rehearse, but try to act like its a desirable outcome that they're looking for. I'm sure a team of HR psychologists have sold the method to other companies. HR can be pretty whacked....lol....just my opinion.

Fellow CCBC grad here! Working on my multi engine right now. Community college of beaver county is still going strong lol.
Thank you very much. Great perspective. I can proudly say I got myself here working two jobs to fly these birds around the world.
Great interview! My SIL is a captain and line check pilot and instructor.
Thanks BigErn! Great conversation.
There is a lot in here that applies to all job seekers, not just pilots. Very good podcast.
Nice to hear from a fellow Pittsburgh area pilot. 🖤💛
@FlyingwithBigErn do southwest pilots get to choose their base?
Still watching, very interesting so far. But man that tripod leg on the edge of the table is giving me serious anxiety lol

Hell yeah new Big Ern video!
Great content Big Ern 👍🏻
Great Interview, Kelly being from Beaver County near Pittsburgh is probably very familiar with the unfortunate USAir 737 disaster there in 1994.

Always very interesting, people with lots of background in the industry.
You have great content all the time, why the 2 watches? I’m curious
Only one watch. The other is a Whoop. 👍🏽
Did you Flown with Kelly before while your First Officer?
Yes I did. Great capt. Going to miss flying with him.

Get back into the cockpit and get some recency. You’ll get there. You bring a lot of life experience so keep going👍🏽
I’m guessing no hiring for a while since VPTO is coming.
