Jesus christ, people, leave the man alone.
Hes the only remorseful parent we've ever seen in history relted tothese kinds of crimes
The Father's not to blame, the young man needs more help then Dad could give. Prey for them and the people killed or hurt.
Fact 🙏🏻
He has nothing to answer for. If his son was let down, for the treatment of a mental illness, then the Authorities & Healthcare providers do.
it is not just psychological care but our healthcare in general...
i am epileptic and can no longer afford to spend 12+ hours in the emergency room watching fist fights and listening to screaming matches every time i have a seizure.
its nice to not have to pay for the ambulance, but 9 times out of 10 i just go home before actually seeing a doctor or anything...
Cant imagine my exflatmate of 1.5 years did this, sad and shocking. I never saw his parents visit him in our rental apartment 2020-22. I knew from first day he joined the apartment he has mental illness as my rental agent said but what he did has no excuse. He brought one east Asian lady to his room few times and I wondered how she is managing in his company as it was difficult to communicate even simple things
Heartbreaking... God give you strength, sir... Unfortunately, some people are sick beyond help no matter what you do for them... All you can do is keep them out of harm's way... Harm to others and harm to themselves...
Bless this father and what he will be going through. Give him grace and understanding. Please !!
Amen
Poor man😪❤️
Keep the blame where it deserves to be - on the man who committed these heinous crimes!
Please, please, please don’t condemn his parents!! His parents are just as innocent as his victims, they’ve done nothing wrong to anyone. 99% of the time, parents don’t raise their children to do such heinous acts. Kids grow up to become their own person, like his son. His son's actions were just that - His Son's actions. They are guilty of NOTHING.
BOLOGNA!!!
In America parents go to jail
@@shannonhawkins3296 you're comparing apples and oranges. Two very different cases. Either way parents are the ones that raise and are responsible for getting a Child mental help if they need it. Not ignore it.
@@shannonhawkins3296 The attacker was an adult, not a kid. But obviously to the father he's still his boy.
@@shannonhawkins3296 the FIRS American parents to go to jail for a mass shooting committed by their teenaged son was because the father had bought him the gun, and on the day of the crime, both parents show neglect in controlling their son, ignoring worrisome signs things were going wrong.
I can understand mate
It’s heartbreaking for this man in so many ways. What immense sorrow. I can’t imagine being in his shoes 💔 or the shoes of the families who lost loved ones in this senseless massacre 💔
There are some inconsistencies with the police statements..... 'he was known to police' followed by.... 'he was a polysubstance abuser and never been arrested'. ..... so.... why was he known to police?
Two words: Political Correctness.
As a police officer, I have had contact with various people numerous times that never led to an arrest. Hence, they were known to the police.
What exactly are you trying to glean from this?
@Absolutely_Nobody interesting...... are you perhaps referring to local cafe staff.. ? Otherwise what sort of contact might act as sufficient enough you will know someone's identity,, have a record of said individual that would facilitate rapid identification?
@@Zakkarath ...an incident report. Information is gathered and documented. Across the world literally thousands, if not tens of thousands, of police reports are done daily.
@Absolutely_Nobody that is interesting, I wonder what constitutes an 'incident' and what is a chargeable offence? I imagine many incidents of highly dangerous behaviour is considered 'mental health' related and therefore given over to area mental health to resolve.
God Bless this poor Fathers heart ♥️
Put not the sin of the son on the father…
For those who try to blame the parents, just pray to God that you don’t have a mental illness child. They are maybe ok now but mental illness can come anytime at any age. Be aware of your words.
The Australian media are disgusting, what a judgemental asshole of a reporter asking those questions in that tone
Hollywood's in aussie Land
a lot of emotion and not a lot of answers. as per typical these days. but dont mention anyone who denounces the narrative thats peddled to us
❤❤❤❤❤
Schizophrenia can only be controlled with medications. Doctors' idea to wean Joel Cauchi off his meds led to this tragedy. Those doctors should shoulder the blame, at least morally.
Godbless you, you tried he is just sick. Godbless the victims 🙏 you can't blame yourself ❤
I wonder if people would be that understanding if the assailant was Arab or Black?
Oh my god look what this kid did and now his dad has to answer to the kias. The child is sick and evil.Condolences sent to the families
Someone said he is 40 years old though.
Was he on SSRI's?
No he was on the run living rouge avoiding meds
@@babe1er "Avoiding meds." -meaning he WAS on them?
I tried living teal once, but never "rouge"😃
Cant imagine my exflatmate of 1.5 years who slept on the other side of my bedroom wall did this, sad and shocking. I never saw his parents visit him in our rental apartment on Shafston Avenue, Kangaroo Point, Brisbane during his stay Sep 2020- Mar 22. I knew from first day he joined the apartment he has mental illness as my rental agent said but what he did has no excuse. He brought one east Asian lady to his room few times and I wondered how she is managing in his company as it was difficult to communicate even simple things. Queensland police came to my apartment in my absence when I was at work on 9 May 2021 because this killer was screaming and the neighbours thought it may be domestic violence but he shouted in the frustration as the tray didnt fit well in the fridge. Praying for the victims and their families peace and strength to bear the hard times. Hope this type pf tragic events never happen anywhere. This guys liked guns and knives and his father his US army knives in Dec 2023 when he visited for Christmas and he called police and blamed his father for domestic violence that was rejected. In Dec 2020 he posted in a hiking group in Facebook that he wants to meet people and do hand gun shooting and that he lives in Brisbane; and am shocked I was living in the same apartment during that time. During his stay in my apartment he even posted google reviews on knife sharpening shop. Seeing how handled big knife in kitchen I used to keep a safe distance knowing his unpredictable body, hand movements, twitching head and screaming but he never did verbal or physical abuse to any of the flatmates. In retrospective it turns my stomach thinking of this.
Did he do everything except institutionalize him

Omg this man doesn't deserve this. I hope he finds peace. Young adults today see all the horrific incidents & sadly they think they can do better or inflict more pain. Our governments are doing nothing to prevent these awful attacks. They were few and far between when I was a kid. They won't stop until our governments do something about it! Its so sad!
😊😊😊😊
What is poisoning the minds of our youth these days?
The medications are causing this.
He was on drugs
Apparently it was precisely because he stop taking his schizophrenia meds that he did what he did.
Sir I will be praying 🙏 for you. May you find comfort, peace and rest in the ONLY person that can offer that to you our Lord Jesus Christ. He loves you, he died for your sins was buried and rose the 3rd day according to the scriptures and he's coming REALLY soon to take believer's to be with him. Believe in him and be saved, Amen 🙏
God the press as vultures
It’s always the parents. It always starts there.
I’ve dealt with my fair share of mental health issues and if anything, my parents are the reason I’m not much worse off. Life sometimes deals people an awful hand. When people become physically ill, we don’t blame their parents, so why do it when it’s mental illness? Sometimes a sick mind is just a sick mind.
Im sorry but What you said is really disturbing.
@@Robyn_Retro Sometimes it’s drugs. Sometimes it’s that parents are too lenient and allow their children free roam and that free roam lands them with the wrong people. Tell us more and I can figure out your cause.
@@DeVincey exactly
Not at all. Some very evil people have come from great parents. And some great people come from bad parents. Parents can't always be 100% in control of their children, especially when the children grow up and lead their own lives.
How is that taking people's guns for "safety" working out for you Australia?
6 people killed and its international news for Australia. First time in a long time. US has already had 3 mass shootings of over 6 killed this year. 125 mass shootings YTD with 200 dead and 400 wounded
That's an unfair and horrible question, but since you asked......
The injuries and deaths would have been significantly higher and worse, had this been a gun crime, and you know it

Its not the parents' fault here. The son was 40 years old...
