I keep thinking that one day there will be another Garage. But then I realize it was a place and a moment in time that is now frozen in the memories of all if us that we're there. Now I have a bad back and a bum knee but I'd still like to Tear IT UP again.
I miss this so much! The punch and fresh fruit! Those damn stairs I almost tumbled down to get to the dance floor! The rooftop was the best! That was a "special club" for me! Thank you!
@@manifestingbeautifullife2187I didn't make it to Paradise Garage but I've heard lots of good things about it from friends who was from the east coast. I heard a d.j. who was just as good as Larry Levan in Los Angeles. I can't remember his name but he worked.
As I hear this play it reminds me of all the good times. I truly miss all my friends and staff that passed away. If you're a true Garage head you know who i'm talking about. Too many to mention. I started at the garage in 78 then worked at the club the final 2 years.THE PARADISE GARAGE WAS OUR HOME AWAY FROM HOME.
Hey I share feel your passion of this sacred place , I've only been once and I miss it, I got 2 questions for you, 1. When Larry was told of the closing Joey Llanos said he walk to DJ booth and play a record so loud it blew all bass drivers, What was that record. 2.What really happen to the sound system?
Remember at The Garage the kids use to change into their club clothes ie: Danskins Leg warmers and Capezios in the lil mirrored foyer/dressing room...lol
Loving that Chaka has confronted a health issue and lost weight! Never forget seeing her in one of her many performances at the Garage and she almost fell off the stage but a dancer caught her! Living Legend! Go on girl! We love you!
I use to love this song at the Gargage......I use to pack my bag for the weekend and was only 16....smh...good times....Zanzibar was right a straight shot all the way down Clinton Avenue to broad st...some nights Docks too...
LOL. Grace came to the Garage several times. Once she didn't go on stage until very late and to make up for it we were allowed to stay in the Garage until 2PM the next afternoon! And still people didn't want to go home when it closed!
i forgot about zanzibar i remember catacombs too but i always went to the garage both nights wish i could turn back the time.... we got our life on that dance floor ... wow its still fresh in my mind...
That is the Truth! I used to ride in on the train with my girls. We hit the Door carrying our membership cards, went in changed our clothes n it was on till the next morn, dancin not stop!!! Chillin in the Crystal room... Till we started up again... I got my life!!!! This month is my Bday....so many haven't made it
+Dawnita Alston I went to others clubs in N.Y such as the silver shadow,Bentley's,Pegasus,Justine, the second floor,Leviticus,The Visage, and a few other damn i met so many woman at them clubs. The main cub that i hangout was Pegasus becasue that's where my best freind and i would get there early and scouted to see which ladies came alone, with their friends or if they came with their husbands or boyfriends.Damn i miss those days. But never the garage nope and hell no LMAO
I just lost 10lbs listening to this song. The NYC metro area had "Off The Hook" clubs back in the (80's). BUT The Garage was The APEX. I saw the MOST beautiful Sistas on the planet there. And oh yeah, Larry Levan was a true artist and "F'n" genius
that would be nice.. and going back in time would be needed.. the last time i spent over 8 hours dancing... i woke up soar... but it was worth that pain... mos def
I knew about the reunion in May and it killed me not to go but that was Mother's Day and we have an annual family party every year to honor all the Moms. I've watched just about all the videos on UA-cam about the event and it just reinforces my deep feeling about the Garage. If I ever hit Powerball I'll buy the building back from Verizon and see if we could resurrect the club!
BeXX InTheCity Remember that. I don't know who else didn't remember that. I think they proped Chaka back on the stage and said girl we paid our $15 now get back up there and sing lol
Yes! All the factors you just mentioned.. and Yes you are right. never again.. Glad I was there in it's prime. Like a good friend says.... I'm glad I didn't miss that bus.

there are only attempts at re creating that club.. there will never be another just like it... not sure if it was the time, the place and the people.... but never again.. just the memory of the fun had by all while there.
America has been spoilt for choice for true iconic DJ's but without Larry, Alfredo from Ibiza and Englands very own Andrew Weatherall DJ's would still be the geeky kid in the corner. For the older generation when i was a teenager they could never get their heads around all the fuss with certain DJ's, those ive named was always more than DJ's they were modern day composers.
Larry Levan owned this jam forgive me #Chaka #ParadiseGarage👍
One of those, run that back #Jams.👍

Me too, me too!
Did you go to the Larry Levan street naming dedication party? It's on UA-cam if you missed it, I couldn't attend as I'm on west coast now.
There are a group of very powerful anti-human people who see to it that nothing like the Paradise Garage ever happens again anywhere in the world.
There's a place where the best that happens in this universe is saved forever. The creator's record collection.
When Larry put this on he use to work that bass
God you had to be up in that garage
At this time when Larry did the mix on this cut he was at his best! Top of his game! Hands Down!
So many memories of this time...and yet Chaka Khan still stands as one of the The greatest 💯💕💝🎧🎶
I miss this so much! The punch and fresh fruit! Those damn stairs I almost tumbled down to get to the dance floor! The rooftop was the best! That was a "special club" for me! Thank you!
It would be nice to recreate that scene here in Tulsa.

Yes that rooftop was special, especially that wood floor that would bounce along with you when you dance on it. I miss that Garage.
