Hey! I was thrilled to see your well filmed video just minutes after placing my order from the USA (unfortunately we do not have a HB dealer in Canada) - happy to pay a bit more because this is a smart looking system and matches the bike like it's OEM. I'm sure you looked at many other options as I have, hard luggage looking too bulky and others (Mosko etc) just too busy design wise. And the ugly racks! Well done Mr Dude and great taste :)
Hi Di Thanks for kind comments,Great choice they do look fantastic on the bike and do the job.stay safe ride safe and of course keep warm as Canadian winter is around the corner. D
@@motorbikedude I can't wait to install, you made it sound very straightforward (as opposed to some SW Motech racks for prior bike that were a two person job). My bike is tucked away for the season now, sub zero temperatures and chance of ice are all it takes). Happy riding and stay safe !
@@wandering_armadillo Hey Di Our riding season nearly at the end as well .if not the cold weather it’s getting very wet rain rain and more rain. @@jesseonamotorcycle They are awesome! Good quality and easy to mount/remove. I haven't toured with them yet as our riding season is just getting going in the North.
Great video and the only one that shows how the HB cbow frame and bags fit on the GS because I was worried about the bags touching the exhaust. Even the HB website doesn't show this and it isn't mentioned in the fitting instructions. Much prefer these to the hard BMW vario panniers.
They look really good! I like the minimal look of the racks when you take the bags off. One question though: aren't you worried about the fact that the bags themselves don't lock? I know they're soft bags but still there's nothing to stop someone walking up to the bike, opening the bags and taking the contents.
hello friend, thanks for the video. I have a Yamaha tenere 700 and I love that minimalist support, as well as the suitcases, but I have seen no image or video of how it will look with the exhaust, because I think it is more higher than in the bmw. In Spain, the dealer only shows me the c bow installation manual, which is just a diagram of the right side, without being able to get an idea of how it will look on my motorcycle. Can you think of how to find out? thanks
Hi Dani If you go on the HB website try to find if they do the C bow for your bike model then take it from there . Or send an e mail to HB with your question see if they can help. I am not that familiar with the Yamaha . Hope that helps Adios D
@@motorbikedude Thank you very much for responding so quickly. I have been able to find out, translated from German, that precisely to install the xtravelers with c bow in my motorcycle model a 40 mm spacer is required which will surely be to save the exhaust. However, now I have doubts because aesthetically I do not know how that c bow will look with its original 48 mm + 40 mm extension, I think it will not meet the minimalist objective that I am looking for. Thanks again.
Greetings from a cold and blustery North East Leeds! Just about to fit the C-Bow Mount. Did you bother torquing the fasteners? I can’t find any reference to a torque setting. Cheers my friend.
Hi Rich I d'ont think the bigger x travel bags will fit the C bow .on the website it looks the bigger bags needs deferent fittings best to double check on the web site or e mail them. hope that helps Regards David
Thanks for the video, Very informative. I have the BMW vario cases to my bike. I’m not sure what I think about them. Very heavy and small inner dimension and opening from the side. Not the most optimal but I got them with my bike. The hepco becker looks really nice on your bike Almost color coded. Otherwise I like the more classic look with hard panniers but I also know that hard panniers is not always the best alternative. My bike is new for this year and I haven’t tried the vario cases yet. Hopefully I will get the possibility to test them this summer and after that I maybe have an idea If I will go for hard panniers or som type of soft panniers or maybe stay with the varios. on my old bike I used a dry bag over the pillion and some home made panniers made from old ammo cans. I also had a big tank bag witch had both pros and cons. It will be interesting to hear your opinion about the hepco Becker when you have used them for a while. All the best Jonas (from Sweden so my grammar can be a little odd)
Hi Jones, thank you for the nice comments. Luckily I had the choice of which panniers to fit on my bike but I’d definitely rule out hard panniers because I believe that there is some degree of safety concern. For instance if you drop the bike you can trap foot underneath. Soft panniers more versatile flexible and so more usable. I will definitely put a review after I’ve done a few miles to see how I got on with them. Ride safe and enjoy your bike! Regards David
Hi Not touching but pretty close !So to be on the safe side I would recommend to fit heat shield to protect the soft pannier when in use .The one that I have is the heat shield by Enduristan or Touratech Both around the £25 Links below . www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/490267 www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Enduristan-Inferno-Heat-Shield-LUSA-501-NEXT-DAY-DELIVERY/183834017459?hash=item2acd5c7eb3:g:S7YAAOSw3A9c9DLB www.adventurebikestore.co.uk/heat-shield-muffler-stainless-steel.html Thanks

To be honest not really as they are easy to lift and carry .

Better to be safe and not keep anything valuable in the bags when left unattended.
