I feel like "Court of the Dragon" is in the same vein, as it encapsulates "Ascendancy", "Crusade", and "Shogun". While I had to get used to that album, after not really having been into Trivium since those three, I got into it exactly because it feels like those three. Like... "Phalanx" is much along the lines of the track 'Shogun'. This long groovy epic type song.
This is him?... What's on the "Dragon"-album?... Programming?... A lot of this is messy compared what he did on that album, which is insane. This... this is kind of a mess, but perhaps it's exactly that it's not completely his style and it's difficult to adapt or something. I mean, Travis' style was much more "groovy", almost old-school at this point, obviously inspired by even older drummers, while Alex is... more like the new-age machines of Metal. - This ain't it, however. That said, studio and live are different beasts, and these drumtracks are intense. - But still, I wouldn't guess this is the same person.
@Michael Angelo H. What I'm saying is that he didn't do the studio recording of Shogun for the album. Alex wasn't in the band until 4 albums later. But in this playthrough, he stayed very true to the original recording. There is almost none of his own style in it. I saw them play it live about a week after this video was uploaded and again, he played it almost exactly like it was played on the album.
@@michaelangeloh.5383 almost every band on the planet quantizes the drums to the grid after recording them when they're tracking for an album, which is why album drums always sound so perfect. The best way to describe album drums is that a human is playing them with robotic precision. Live will never be perfect because it's an actual human with the precision of a human. Alex is an absolute monster if you watch some of his other playthroughs of Trivium stuff
Shogun is my little brothers favorite song of all time and I’m bringing him to see you guys in Philly on the 19th. It will be his first metal show. If shogun is part of the set list for this tour that would be so so incredible. Great performance.
Fair warning to anyone in the future at the Boston show, if they play Shogun and 7:45 comes around I am throwing myself at everyone. All laws go out the window 😂
Please Matt PLEASE play this in Costa Rica 🇨🇷 It would be a dream come true if you guys play the best and my favorite Trivium song ever, can't wait until December 6th!! @Trivium
Can’t wait to see Shogun played live. I can’t brlieve this is reality. See you in Nashville! I will br the one losing my sanity in the pit during Shogun.
I was going to see the show anyways, but I am beyond pumped that this is on the setlist. Also BTBAM is a phenomenal band, anybody who doesn't know them should check out their latest album. (Anybody who does know them just go listen to P2 again)
I only recently heard BTBAM for first time and have been blown away, I am trying to slowly listen to their material so I have lots of first listens to enjoy. So far I am in love with disease, injury, madness. Every time I listen I hear something new. I’m super pumped to get to see musicians of their caliber live!

@MatthewKiichichaosHeafy. This Was My First Heavy Metal Concert And You Guys Were Amazing And When The Song In The Court Of The Dragon Came On I Was Absolutely Blown Away About How Phenomenal Of A Drummer Alex Bent Is.
This masterpiece should be played in every single concert. We all want Shogun!
My fav song, sadly it is very difficult to play it cause the duration of the song and the lot of changes that it haves
@Gabo _ yeah I didn't think they even played it live now since it's 12 minutes long. I never heard Alex play it. I'm so jealous😢

Same!
Ur not the only one same here
The most progressive, melodic, heavy album they've done 11/10. One of my nostalgia trip albums
Sorry to all the fans who think otherwise but Trivium haven't yet topped Shogun.
You're not alone dude
"This is Shogun."
If you didn't know that, do you even Trivium?
Relax
Let us know when you'll play Shogun live again. I'll go anywhere in the country to see this man. I've played the song a few thousands times.
See trivium: they never play shogun.
Can't see trivium: they play shogun.
💀
Live audiences don't mind a song as long as Shogun when it's so damn good. Hope this sticks around in the headlining set for a long time!

Matt goofed the lyrics before the first solo but still, an epic performance. This was truly the album that solidified my love for the band.
Paolos backing vocals are always great
Goosebumps. One of the most epic songs in metal
Imagine if they performed this back in 2009 with that aggression and stuff...
With Travis, would have been sick! 08-09 trivium’s live energy was insane

Loving the upgrade to feeding directly from the soundboard.
