Hey David, at 16:17, that was Hot Springs N.C.
Keep the videos coming. They're not boring at all. Dave
Definitely not boring. I put some hours in a Tri-Pacer some years back and miss the feel of that airplane. Thanks for not covering up the engine sound and comms with music! Subscribed and looking forward to more videos.
Thanks Robert. I’m glad you noticed. I always like hearing that stuff too.
It's good luck to have it rain on your wedding day
One of the former owners of your plane Tom Mooney is from my home town. Love that you are based in Ohio. A lot of the airports and sites look familiar. Really enjoy your videos!
I enjoyed the video very much, David! Not boring at all!
Nice!
Excellent in every regard, both parts, thanks! Joe ;-{
Red headed step child among the kids? You mean an airplane with style among the spam cans!
Awesome man. Thank you!
I grew up 0.5 miles off the end of 06 at KLOU in the early 1950s. At the time, I was 6 to 10 years old. I can still remember seeing bright red and bright blue Tri Pacers in the pattern over my house. I made airplanes out of orange crate wood to emulate the Pipers. I really internalized what I saw. I loved them then, and I love them now.
OK Dave, I subscribed your channel. I love exactly the flying you do so somehow, I'm still connected to aviation the way I like it. Kudos. Excellent work.
Very cool.
Thank you Doug!
Your videos are great I like how you keep them simple and informative there more enjoyable to watch and your east coast series were great to
Thanks Justin. Appreciate it. I’ll keep it going.
Another great video David.. Thank you for sharing..
Thanks Norman. Have a great weekend!
Your videos show things about flying an old plane that I find really helpful. Keep up the good work. Your Tri-Pacer is beautiful!
Thanks Tim. I appreciate it!!
Great video. I'm currently working on my IFR and this is great content to review for me.
Thank you!! Exciting. Its a great rating to have. I enjoyed it as much or more as my private!
Nice video
Thanks Ronald. Appreciate it!
I just found your channel and loved your videos. Real world flying in a beautiful little airplane. I fly a Piper as well, however my hearsay bar wings are low. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the nice comments Dan!! Happy flying!!
Thank you for the great Tri-pacer videos! I really enjoy the travel content and your decision making details. I'm a new Colt owner getting back into flying. I live in WV but keep it at GAS in OH. I'm still trying to figure out what kind travel is reasonable with it and my own skill level.
Hey Matt. That is awesome. Just start exploring furthers and further out. The great thing about the US is there are so many airports that it makes it nice if weather turns on you to find a place to land. I’m sitting at about 450 hours over 2 1/2 years. Enjoy that plane!!
another great video. i applaud your editing skills as your final cuts are immensely enjoyable. I actually have found your channel through paramotoring world but I thoroughly enjoy your flights and commentary. thank you for sharing with us and good luck with your channel, totally deserves more traffic.
Thanks so much Danish! I need to get a few more paramotor flights in before winter is here! You fly?
@@davidschmaus1 not yet, plan to do training in spring 2021 and have done a few tandems but thats about it. I live in the middle of IAD & DCA and the nearest flying zone is about 1.5 hours away one way so thats the biggest bummer!
I like your work. You are inspiring me to get my instrument rating in my Tri-Pacer.
Thank you Gene. You should do it if you can. I still glad I did and I use it on a pretty regular basis.
@@davidschmaus1 David thanks for your reply. I fly out of 90IN McDaniel Field in Martinsville, IN, I'm the manager of the airport, My contact info is; gene@merlinking.com and 317-710-6471.
@@geneking4864 oh you are close! I will have to come visit this summer.
Its great content and i appreciate it
Just found your site yesterday. I'd like to discuss buying a TriPacer with you. Getting ready to pull the trigger. Not sure how to get you a number. Really enjoy your videos!
fully agree with the comment below, very timely as i am about to purchase a Piper Colt, also I like your equipment, I am instrument rated but spent the last few years flying a Legend cub thus my left hand maybe kind of lazy for the yoke but i noticed that you land the Pacer with both hands on the yoke. Your video is very well edited compact with just the important stuff, route analysis based on the weather you see and the right amount of important ATC communications. subscribed and also looking forward to more videos. one question is that an OAT gauge on the small window to your left, is so where did you get it also what are you using as moving map, Aera or Ipad
That was such a nice little trip. The flight over King's island was just a bonus . I haven't been there in years. I didn't even know there was the huge tennis venue across the street. Thanks for bringing me along with you and share as much as you feel like. I can guarantee you that someone is going to watch it.... Like me😆
Thanks Kevin. I probably haven't visited Kings island in 20 years. It was cool that it popped out between the clouds. Looks so small from the air. Have a good weekend!
@@davidschmaus1 you too😁
Great work David. Thanks for taking the time to share. Your videos are always worth watching!
Thanks man! Hope you are doing well!
I just came across your channel awesome video! Definitely subscribing looking forward to more future videos I am a student pilot from Ontario Canada working on my PPL!
That’s awesome man. You are going to love it! How close are you?
Just doing cross country stuff now and then do some Do some ifr stuff then flight test!! I bought my own airplane it’s a 1965 172 it’s made the whole flight training very enjoyable
@@jonathanschuit6924 that great. Yeah. Buying an airplane was the best decision I ever made. I went ahead and got my instrument rating in my plane and am working on my commercial. Good luck and enjoy man!
Loved this video! I would like even more shots of the panel and perhaps some discussion of what is dislayed. I like the Foreflight shots, too. Very informative. I am with you all the way vicariously!
Thanks man! I am working on a panel cam and I'll talk about it more soon! Thanks man!
i guess I am kinda randomly asking but does anyone know a good site to stream newly released movies online ?
@Lewis Jake Lately I have been using FlixZone. You can find it on google :)
@Trevor Luciano Yup, I've been watching on Flixzone for since april myself =)
@Trevor Luciano Thank you, I signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :D I really appreciate it!
Another great video! Do you have any other Tri-pacer flying buddies you get together with? I also wanted to compliment you on your radio skills, very smooth. Happy flying!!
Thanks Chris. I watched so many UA-cam videos I think it helped on radio stuff. I belong to the short wing piper club in ohio but its been a crazy year of not getting together.
Nice landing! I am thinking about buying a TRI-Pacer 150 for a commuter. Would you recommend that move?
I absolutely would! They are such a great value! Just get your money in order and then start looking and be ready to pounce when you find a clean one.
Do you still have the old generator in your plane? Wondering what the interference is on your radio. If you have the old generator you should bin it and install an alternator. I did that with mine. Much better. Lighter to. Nice video. Awesome little planes.
Thanks! I have the alternator conversion already. I’m not sure what the noise is. Seems like it comes and goes. I need to have it checked out next annual. Thanks!
Beautiful panel! I dream of an IFR short-wing. Are there any serviceable autopilots available for it?
Thank you! Unfortunately I don’t think so. I really wish there was. It’s something I really want and might be the thing that will have me “upgrade” planes down the road. Appreciate it!
This video I saw your OAT gauge , I was thinking of putting one there in my PA22. Any issues with the location?
I have the digital one by the passenger and the one in the window by me. I always use the mechanical one by my head and always forget about the other one. Hope that helps!
Nice jets... but the tripe is iconic. Citations are a dime a dozen. I bet your 22 gets more second looks. 🤙
I do get a lot of comments on it and truthfully it’s such a straight forward plane to fly!
I was building a 1955 in my garage when the wife and I decided to up and move to Costa Rica. So I had to sell the project. Now planning to move back and get another. Or maybe a pacer. The epitome of efficiency. 900 pounds useful. Sips the gas. Simple maintenance. 4 seats. Mind if I ask what that avionics package cost you? That’s pretty much exactly what I have in mind. Dual G5’s. Get rid of that pesky vacuum system. By the way... more content is better. You’re doing great. I enjoy your vids as much as all the big names. I’ll always sit and linger over my coffee a bit longer if there’s a pacer flying. 👍 (Actually subbed on my other account to give you number 300. Way to go!)
Poas Lodge thank you! Appreciate it. I need to get back Costa Rica when things get normal again. A tail dragger there would be awesome! I just went back and looked at my quote for everything.
Garmin G5 AI
Garmin G5 HSI with Gad29b and GMU 11
Garmin GNC 355 GPS/COMM
Labor to remove existing equipment; vacuum system And install new equipment.
Plus IFR cert. 16K. Dropped 19 LBS between the vacuum system and the old radio we removed.
That’s what I’m talking about! That’s 3 gallons of fuel right there! Plus more precision and way better reliability. Well worth the money in my opinion if you’re like me and don’t have ambitions for bigger faster planes. If anything... mine will get big tires, a 180 horse and go slower. 😂 . Being able to shoot those approaches is just priceless. Keep the dirty side down man!🤙
@@PoasLodge i will admit. Being able to fly IFR in and out of places in the ole girl is killer. Thanks man! Enjoy the weekend!
What cameras are you using? Amazing quality.
Thanks! Im using two GoPro 7's and a DJI Action camera. Also a iPhone 11 Pro for the outside shots!
Is it your house on the begining of the video ? 😁
Man I wish!
How does the Piper feels compared to a Cessna 150 ? ^^
Sorry I am just seeing it. While I enjoyed the 150 while training the Piper is more comparable to a 172. Good useful load. 120MPH but a higher fuel burn. 8-9GPH
