its april 5 there now. today is wowaka’s 1st death anniversary. i dont think ive made any efforts of moving on at all, i just bask in the pain in fear of .. “forgetting” him. i miss you a lot. this is my favorite song of theirs and i keep it very close to my heart. its a lot more painful listening to it on this day. i miss you. i love you. i dearly wish you are happy.
I'm a year late to respond but I think it's the visualization of a deep relationship that, because it's impossible, ends in a lover's suicide. The video is full of memory-like fragments and things that feel like toys that one discovers in their childhood by digging them out of the past. It alludes strongly to memory. The white veil thrown in the water feels like the end of something meaningful. The blindfolds feel like a loss of freedom while the burning branches and smoke while holding a the veils feel like the desire to rebel and find beauty and solace in it. The happy moments walking on the edge of the water, dancing and spinning, walking on the edge of it, then walking towards it and ending with sleeping head to head near it and spots of what looks like blood in the snow, that feels like they've always walked on the edge of the river between life and death and that they would spend their last moments being as they are before walking toward the other bank (death) together. I can't say whether or not this is a LGBTQ message or if the relationship is drawn as one between two women simply as an example of a forbidden or impossible love (in the context of Japan's mainstream culture), but it feels like "everything is right except just this one thing." The relationship feels raw and innocent. They're happy with each other but something is stopping them from being happy together.
So uh, I have a pretty insane theory about the meaning of this music video: I personally see the pair as twins or sisters or something like that, forced to flee from their home after some kind of disaster happened (represented by the running at the beginning, as well as when they were looking through a hole in a wall). To me their relationship doesn’t seem especially romantic, kinda more like just very close friends trying to comfort each other through a tragedy. I think the winter represents that this disaster has caused the end of the world, or at least that the two girls believe it has. After realising that they are alone, they try to survive with what little resources they can find through scavenging (opening that old box/bag/chest/whatever it is). However, they soon run out of food and know they don’t have much time left. The blindfolds represent how they can no longer see the world as it was before the disaster, while the piece of cloth (a veil?) being thrown shows how they have given up on trying to survive, accepting their fate. The two of them decide to spend their final moments happily reliving their childhood memories (the dancing and spinning), while laughing and crying about the situation they’re in. Finally, they both make the decision to end their lives on their own terms (originally I thought the walking towards the water meant drowning, but that doesn’t explain the spots of what appears to be blood at the end so I don’t really know), rather than waiting for their inevitable starvation. I know this might not make as much sense when put with the lyrics, but to be fair, there are Hitorie MVs which make even less sense when put with the lyrics (**cough** Five-Count hello **cough**). I also tend to interpret things very literally, so if there is some deep symbolism in here, I completely missed it- Anyway, thank you for reading!
@@Gues21ng_tpwnn i got more into it overtime and looked up his older songs, this is so sad and i can't really describe how i feel about such an artist not being around anymore. loving his songs soo much more now tho
