Kung titignan mo sa Size sa Armament masasabi mo na isa itong Corvette pero tinawag nalang Frigate.Hindi kase pasok sa criteria ng pagiging isang modern frigate ang Jose rizal dahil sa Displacement nito at Armaments.sa kasamaang palad mas matatawag pangfrigate ang 2 inorder na Corvette dahil mas malaki ito at mas maraming Armas ang kaysa kumpara sa Jose rizal frigate.

For limitations on budget, Philippine modernization is quite impressive. Hell, there are NATO members that don’t possess a frigate as capable as the Rizal. Nicely, done!!

Pa update Po ng mga armaments ng Jose Rizal frigates na nilagay Ngayon Po
Kaso lang tinipid ang Jose Rizal Class frigates, walang pang equipped na VLS. Manpads system lang ang surface to air missiles. Kahit sana ESSMs lang na quad-packed sa Mk41 VLS galing US, magkakaroon na ng 32 capable SAMs. Sa bagong corvette naman, kung ESSMs din, 64 missiles ang kayang dalhin, which is very good by modern standards. Still, very proud for the new modern PH navy!

@@fernandoguanzon1418 of course, suggestion lang naman ang akin. Once na magdecide na sila na installan ng VLS ang warships, pwedeng ESSMs. Para marami missile load, since dalawa lang naman sila.

I hope Philippine Navy will keep the classification of HDC-3100 (Hopefully 4 more) as corvette and downgrade the JRC from frigate to corvette, these ships + the Pohang freebies will fill in the total 1 squadron corvettes as a faster solution. Though a light frigate size, HDC-3100 is rightfully called corvette as it lacks AAW capabilities compared to a standard frigate. However, PN is also planning to acquire a proper frigates in Horizon 3, but realistically they should get a 4,000 tons frigate first for 6 units with a budget of $500M per ship before acquiring a very expensive 6,000 ton ships which can be considered already as PN's future destroyers.
- HDC-3100 corvettes with 16-cell VL-MICA.
- HDF-4000 frigate with 16-cell Mk41 VLS for ESSM quadpacked 32 missiles + 8 SM-2.
- Navantia's F110 as PN's future destroyer with 48-cell Mk.41 VLS for ESSM, SM-2 and RUM-139 VL-ASROC.
I think it's more practical to jump straight from HDC 3100+2600 (JRCFs) to AAW heavy frigates such as the FREMM. As long as we will manage to make the total number of JRCFs to 8 units then we could complement it with 3 heavy frigates for air defense and GDP OPVs/Patrol frigates to beef up forces wherever they are necessary to be deployed particularly against chinese encroachments in WPS, then the smaller OPVs and more Pohang corvettes are also needed to perform sovereignty patrols in the further ends of the archipelago (Sulu and Celebes seas, eastern seaboards, Benham rise, Luzon strait)
@@PapiDawg I will agree on your proposal if JRC and HDC-3100 are equipped with Mk.41 VLS. If it's only armed with short-range and low altitude VL-MICA then I will stick to my suggestion but we can make adjustment for my Navantia proposal or heavy frigates/destroyers to lower the cost by acquiring Type 31 with 32-cell Mk.41 VLS or a MEKO A300.

@@PapiDawg Honestly, I'm not really sure if JRC can be fitted with Mk.41 VLS with 32 ESSM since the platforms having this type of VLS has specs not lower than 3,000 tons, 118-meters long and 4.5 meters draft. If it can then JRC is the smallest warship to have this type of VLS.

The BRP Jose Rizal doesn't have any CIWS but they are currently buying the Gokdeniz CIWS for upgrades
