Comparing Kenyas debt burden to Japan's is potentially disastrous if not fatal for our economy! Japan is a technological giant, we are still stuck at tea growing and export and our technology in production is still stuck at jua Cali made mabati boxes (suitcases) and such like stuff. Incredible!

Quite embarrassing, how do you attend an interview without thorough preparation mark Masai!? You should argue your case from an informed position! You could not even respond to the president's simple question media guys ,you can do better!

There will be no change in these country as long as the status quo keep the leadership. True progress will only begin with a change of guard. The past and current have proved zero vision for the country albeit for themselves and their wives and children....the youth don't want the future you have planned for them, a future of a lifetime of paying back debts incurred by the families of leadership today for a worthless tomorrow. Leave us a country without roads but will remain ours. Mr President we are tired of your games... ALL OF YOU.

Talking about independent inquires and commissions of major issues affecting Kenyans...the people in these commissions and boards are the major reason we are in bogg. Think the biggest discussions are who is eating what and the newest designer whiskey in the market.... On the second seems they're doing a great job😵

Fact: A total of $13,820 million US Dollars is the cost of LAPPSET Project which is equal to 1.4 Trillion Kenya Shillings...was this money raised through borrowing? Now how does this borrowing compare to our GDP?

What that tells me,... is that Maasai is still a boy and is not ready to talk to men. He forgot a simple rule...respect ... no matter how right you are.... anybody older than you... you watch how you talk to them. Bye boy x2

Kenya can't compare itself with Japan.... Kenya is beneficiary of Japan donation.... Japan has suffered major natural disasters yet it stands strong so no way debt will make Japan shake....on the other hand Kenya is highly dependent on donation with corruption as it's man made disaster trust me with more debt Kenya will be China slaves

Borrowing is not a bad thing. It is how the money borrowed is used and the effect it brings to the country's economy. Wait until Chines takes over every potential area of kenya's economical and natural resources. When kenyan people will hardly be able to ootain jobsvunless they go through Chinese personnels. It will soon be too for late kenyans.
Did Kenya not get enough from British colonisation that they stll feel ready for more from Chinese?

I listened to this interview the authorities are misleading Kenya...foremost Japan debt is not at the risk of defaulting because it is owed to the citizens...and so not in the danger of defaulting....Kenya debt is way above 500% Debt-GDP Ratio and indeed at the risk of default...so Uhuru comparing debt situation in Japan and that of Kenya is a serious joke...he needs to think like an economist given that he is already one...Mark Masai is a journalist...truth is Kenya must not borrow again and must organise its economy in a serious manner forthwith.

It is over 100% of their gdp,but their gdp and the Kenyan one cannot be compared with them,so we just do not need to borrow in reference to others.

Question: was the 1.72 Trillion Kenya Shillings raised through debt? Was it necessary and can Kenya through its revenue raise the amount comfortably? Was Kenya capable to raise this money through its resources?

Total cost of the LAPPSET Project on facts we have will require Kenya Government to spend a total of 1.72 Trillion Kenya Shillings...as per the LAPSSET Corridor Development Authority (LCDA) established via Presidential Order Kenya Gazette Supplement No. 51, Legal Notice No. 58...see more of our breakdown by following us on Twitter @analytics_stats

Indeed borrowing is not the problem but what you do with a debt...now well said.Let us now turn our analysis to what we are doing with that debt and I guess it is the execution of Big Four and to a greater extent the implementation of the LAPPSET project...so of what benefit does this have to the Kenya people in the short run and long run? Is the Return on Investment commensurate to the terms of the loan contract? Can the LAPPSET Project repay the debt? We need to to have an economic impact assessment of all projects initiated by the Jubilee Government...I am an ardent supporter of infrastructure development especially roads and super highways..airports etc so long as they have incremental benefits to the productivity of the masses...follow us on twitter @stats_analytics for more bulletins...
