I hate when you feel like you have something together and realize you have to take it back apart for one thing. Well, am thinking the pain will be well worth it!
Almost as if we expect the failure 😂
0:33 I hear yea, breaklines frackin suck, pads, rotors, calibers, no problem but if it's the lines, I'll pay someone else to have it be their problem, or sell the vehicle
It’s not that I won’t do them, I just dislike them greatly!
@@OldeCarrGuy yup, I understand, I won't do them anymore because I have terrible luck with them.
I’m trying to put cruise control in my 72 Maverick but I hate doing wires
I felt the same. It’s really not that bad!
I need to do this to my suburban
It's a must have for sure especially for those long hauls!
@@OldeCarrGuy we once drove from south west Tx to Utah in our suburban 20 hrs this would’ve been perfect ! It’s a definitely a must …
The activation switch, do you have a link to that? I’m doing cruise control on my ‘80 k20 and that would be perfect.

I have a vision problem, soo, I need to have this installed by a mechanic ...about how many hours would you say it took you from start to finish?..I have a 1966 Chevelle with American Autowiring... AND what wag your total cost? THANKS!!
I would say from start to finish a competent feller should be able to do this in a couple to 3 hours, maybe a bit more if they're more detailed about the wiring. If I was doing this in my shop, I charge $75/hour, so let's say $225 for 3 hours to be fair. The current price on the kit is around $400 so you might be into it for $600-700 depending on your tax.
Do you happen to know if I will be able to get my steering wheel straight after removing it and reinstalling? That would be a huge bonus to this.
If you’re using a stock steering wheel, you can place a mark on the wheel and column with a sharpie. This will help guide you in the right direction.
13:09 this how we know we do it nice, because we do it twice 🤣
Yup! 😂
Rostra Cruise Control makes these kits for Dakota Digital. They're about $100 less per kit when you buy it through them. The dipswitch configuration explanation would be helpful to those who have never installed these kits. I've installed a few of them now, so I'm pretty familiar with the dipswitches. I actually installed one of these kits in a 2013 Honda F6B motorcycle! It worked great. There are also wires for the indicator lights. One for cruise power on and one for cruise set. There are a bunch of different LEDS available out there that can be used for these indicator lights. If you're using an actual Dakota Digital gauge cluster, those indicator lights are included. Pretty cool! Great video.
When all else fails… read the instructions.
Right!
Is it on and off the gas like my stock cruise on my 87 r1500 or is it gps controlled?
100% mechanical. So yes! On and off the gas.
@OldeCarrGuy mine seems jerky though. Doesn't hold a nice rpm on the highway
@@carterworo4467 on these units there are sensitivity settings!
I hate watching the videos with that truck, I looked for a set of chrome for a 77 with the gold, only pieces, most not good, none to make up a full set. After my factory Cruise Master started having issues, and no good regulators after trying about 10, I took the worst one, gutted it, fit all the stuff from a late 80's truck with the optical pickup, built a switch from old parts, and I had a more modern setup that works like new. Love my rounded body style 77's
I had to replace a couple missing pieces on mine with the black inserts and painted the gold by hand! I did a video on it way back!
Sweet, now your problem will be trying not to fall asleep while you're steering. LOL
Cruise control will be much more gooder for a long ride so your foot doesn't go numb. Now all you need is an Ai computer to steer for you.😲
😂
Thanks, nice overview and detail on small things that are often passed over good info. . PS. just out of curiosity were there many pages to the instructions. Thank you
I don't believe so! But I do remember them being very clear instructions!
Thanks for the video. Just what I needed as I’m in the process of adding the same DD unit to my ‘66 Thunderbird.
Glad it helped
Did you make any further progress on tuning fitech for better fuel economy?
I did! That video will be out once I’m back from Atlanta!
That's it!
This truck has too much Luxury!
What's next? A/C??
Factory a/c truck. Works to! 😂
@@OldeCarrGuy Dangit! 🤣🤣

Thanks!
No squirrels?🦝 here to give a like.
Thanks Derek
