  • Nottingham Swing is an English Country Dance
    Publish in EFDSS Community Manual Book 6 Edition 1 in 1969
    Melbourne Colonial Dancers held their “Golden Jubilee Ball” on 29th June 2024 to celebrate 50 years.
    Nottingham Swing was a popular dance during the club’s early days.

    The Dance Instructions are:
    Nottingham Swing
    Formation: Longways, duple proper
    Style: English
    A: Bars 1-4: 1st man and 2nd woman right forearm swing.
    A: Bars 5-8: 2nd man and 1st woman ditto.
    B: Bars 1-4: 1s chassé or lead down set 2 steps and back; cast down round 2s.
    B: Bars 5-8: All swing (cross-hand hold).
    Suitable Music:
    Music: 16-bar schottische or hornpipes (e.g. a 32-bar hornpipe played without the usual repeats). Here is a link to the standard tune and some others.
