Elgin is a place in Scotland, originally Eilginn, it is now, and always has been, pronounced with a hard 'G', so is Elgin, not Eljin.

Can you put a picture in the case?

I would suggest you take to a jewelry store and let them appraise, also look on ebay for similar watches. Value will be affected by condition and case gold or silver content. I will look on face book but do not know that I can accurantely value.

You probably could cut a picture to a circle and wedge in top of case. Some of the double case or pair case watches will have watch papers or pictures in them.

It indicates it's usually a gold filled case, which means that it was done by using two sheets of 10 carat gold and brass in-between. It's a better (thicker and thus more durable) method as opposed to gold plating (electroplating or PVD).
