Got my 1st SFTB about 2wks ago, and i absolutely love it. It’s thick, finish forever. Honey, caramel, french toast. 124.9 proof of goodness. Happily would drop another 150 for another.

I just picked one up. Mine tastes like it’s much older. It has major barrel impact. Lots of oak. It’s pretty tasty. I like it alot. Just different from most everything else I have
A year or so ago, I got a very rare opportunity (in my area) to try a number of unicorns. Blanton’s SFTB came very close to last for me. The top three were well beyond the last two. I definitely love the STFB Blantons, I also really like the gold right behind it. Not a huge fan of the rest of the plans lineup. These two are the two I like
I'm not being a naysayer but despite no Blanton's ever impressing me, the Gold's have been the best proof point for them IMO. It's also ridiculously overpriced for 10 proof points more than the standard.
Have the Brown, Green and Gold label. Having always had the Green in Australia I was desperate to get the others. Luckily they came in at a reasonable price and boy was I disappointed. The usual brown single barrel private reserve was poor. Couldn't believe people were always chasing it over there. The Gold was better but for the price... I know the Green is not available in the USA but (as a beginner) it was the "perfect" bourbon for us. Smooth and subtle but touching all the notes that go into a great bourbon... BUT the BALANCE. Probably too low a proof now to impact us the same way, but always on my shelf.

Total Wine recently had a tater bottle event, and I picked up one of these without even having to wait in a line. I was on the fence about getting it. There was a 22-year-old Trinidad rum that I was really excited about and was a similar price. I ended up blowing the money and getting both of them, but if I could have only bought one, I would have taken the rum. Blanton's is good, but it doesn't tend to perform well when compared against other bourbons. The standard version and the Gold have never really impressed me, but I find SFTB to be helped by the added concentration. I like a bit of oak tannin, and there is just enough in this bottle to give it more complexity than Blanton's usually has. Adding a small drop of cold water brings out some flavor and causes it to cloud up a little. This is a good bottle of bourbon, but the price is a bit high for what it has to offer. When I tasted it side by side with the rum, they complemented each other. Maybe Blanton's comes into its own when paired with something else, either another spirit or food.
for me it is I cant wear it forward for videos and i needed a haircut. So if you see a hat or a beanie on my head its because my hair is out of control. hahaha
Agreed 100%. There is a reason Blanton’s Gold is gold. I think they are putting the best Blanton’s barrels into the gold. I’ve never had a bad one. On SFTB, I’ve had some good ones. People will tell you that >130 proof is better. I don’t think so. But the thing about SFTB is that it doesn’t taste like Blanton’s to me. It is typically missing that orange marmalade note that I find on great Blanton’s. Tack on the fact that it drinks hot… and I drink high proof stuff… I tend not to gravitate towards SFTB at bottle shares and I certainly don’t pursue it.
Well the price of this isn't cheap so that point might be a little more difficult. What about if we did a blind with SFTB vs Stagg vs EHTBP. All comes from BT and all are around the same proof.

Traded a weller 12 that I paid $49 a couple months ago for a 750ml Blantons straight from the barrel just this afternoon lol.
Finally scored one at my local BT drop. Never had it. Now i have all 3 US blantons. I'd like to try the Japanese one.

Gold IMO is the best proof point for Blanton's, which isn't saying much, but the price hike for those 10 extra proof points is unjustifiable.
Maybe I got a bad Gold, but it lost in my blind to regular Blantons and a store pick Blantons... by a lot. I thought SFTB was delicious though.
