Win or lose, it's always a joy to watch Lin Dan on court. His footwork is immaculate and super efficient, he makes the court seem small. His wrist work is so powerful he seems like he's just tapping the shuttle even when he's hitting base to base, just a tap and it goes all the way deep into the other side. Simply sublime, and such grace, seemingly floating on the court.
Lin Dan is class. There was calmness in that game. This has been Lin Dan after Biejing Olympics not trying too hard to win, setting up the opponent, tight under control rallies. This style is rare among new players. I believe this is one of the reasons for his long run in the game.
More of this is the type of game players transition to as they get old, lose power and speed. That said, he remains one of the greats and always a treat to watch.
If you notice the moment hi split step, he does not predict the shots very well anymore and his reaction time is not as fast as his prime. But still very excellent flow of movement in court. Truely a legend LD.
he does smash quite a few times, but it is not the kind of full-strength jump smash we saw from him in earlier years, and there's not much mystery to why. after playing for over 30 years his body is not putting out that kind of energy anymore. in the years before his retirement, lin dan moved to an almost pure tactical control game with a perfection of form, striking skills, placement, and very little power. all of the smashes we saw in this match were chinese jump except for @8:55, which was full rotation lcw style but only half or 3/4 energy. otherwise, he is rotating malaysian/lcw style only on clears and drops. interesting thing in this match is the danish player is playing the same sort of game, so the match has a lovely kind of zen flow to it with beautiful footwork and smooth movements in this phase of lin dan's career some of my chinese friends complained that he was not retiring. but in my view this is lin dan at his personal best where character rises above sport skill. he's not concerned about seeing his ranking drop and losing his face match after match. his work ethic hasnt changed. he's working with what he's got for as long as it's right for him to do this work, and he doesnt care what you or i think about the result
@@yukigumarnament5916 I mean, he was almost 37 by that time, he wanted to stay in the sport cus he love the sport. @@yukigumarnament5916did you forget he won 2019 Malaysia open ? How many men’s singles player are winning super 750 world tour title at his age. Less than 1 hand.
this is LD almost end or Era. He playing for fun and enjoy and compete for new talent only. LD already said it this a few months later after retirement Lee Chong Wei. Thats why we see LD not pushing harder every single match. We can see LD footwork and pace really slow.. now, we all already miss both legends!
What are you talking about, he just got old, even in big tournaments he no longer can do well. He was still playing because he said he wanted to make five Olympics, LD said it’s harder to do than two gold medals. His logic actually makes sense, when you win gold medals in theory you are still in your prime, so it’s possible to do it again within a four year period. But to make five Olympics, as a Chinese player you need to remain a top 2 player for a 20 year period, even the great LD couldn’t do it.
2 gold olympic medal, 5 times world champion, 32 champion of grandprix series. In badminton, nobody come close to his achievements. Not even lcw. Super Dan doesnt need to prove anything

Who is his oponent? Not Anders Antonsen?

Excellent
actually, he used smash for defend not smash for killing :v
cuz hes slowerr so hes more suspectible to be countered if he keeps smashing. its normal
Rumor says he can't retire for signed a 10 years commercial contract.
Nice comment + based
the kid play well , Well done !
Lin Dan his still my hero !!!
Lin Dan is the best player i ever saw .... long life to the king !!!
Lin Dan in his typical energy saving mode
he just got old(as in this sport). he's more like ambassador mode now.
It's like the legend's teaching that newbie ✌️
6:24 that shot 🤩🤩🤩
first time not seeing lindan controlling a game. Its really a rare sight
He doesn't have to prove anything anymore. He's just playing it as if it's a warm-up and didn't care about winning or losing.
after won everything, he decided to go on a losing spree to everyone else from 2018-2020, another record achieved XD

Was stoked to see LD play live for the first time, and then he went on and lost. 😂
Didn't know Boris Johnson played badminton against Lin Dan in his days youthful days...
Link Dan.... Salutes!! Best I've seen, together with nemesis LCW.
LD and LCW junior will conquer the badminton world again.
He doesnt have spirit anymore. He exist only to fight another legend
He was playing "fake" at the end of his career, just to fulfil his contract with Yonex. Only in big tournament like Olympic, he was serious.

Lin Dan sparring with the young player.
can you film anthony S Ginting upclose so we could see his speed
Does anyone know who is the other player from Denmark please

Tai Chi Dan, it's all about control. U gonna need stamina too :D
too young.. too fresh... even the day must give way the the night.. anyway Lindan still the God
Hes not young anymore thats why, if lin in the same age, we know the result 😅
what is set1 intro name song ..please! 1:50
players nowadays are lucky not to play during his prime
When lion become old,then
Dog's start barking ..
i don't feel the opposite is dog, also he is not barking. he played very very well
Go in flashback and watch young Lin dan, your opposite player was not born that time.@@meetommy3485
lin dan makes being a lefty so cool
Emil was so fine though.
LD is so relax tho....don't even bother to give effort and take those drop....hmmm
what tournament is this?
Lin Dan made a bet with his coaches that if he beat this guy without smashing, he'll get $1000 richer
Uncle Lin Dan still playing?
Probably got bored of winning so he decided to challenge himself
lindan vs who?
Lin Dan is getting old 🥲
he is old, That's the reason
