I know what you mean by being in a funk. I'm there. I'll be 50 this year and recently I've been getting into this funk with my career, stress, and people in general. I feel like it's time to move on to something better. A couple years ago I was looking into Hawaii but for a couple reasons I put it out of my mind. I regret that. Now I'm financially to the point that I can make this move to a new life.
Thanks for your honesty and openness. I've been in a funk for a year now and been thinking of moving to Hawaii when I retire in a year. Just wanted to let you know that your videos are very helpful!
Jeff, I love this video. I think you helped alot of people with this testimony and your journey. Beautiful. Stay humble and keep up the great videos! I'm with you now in Italy and loving it! (In Spirit that is) lol
Your whole story matches up exactly with what I'm going through right now. Except I'm about to turn 40, dead end job, nothings changed in 10 years--a funk to say the least. Best Friends of mine live about 5 miles West of Hilo Medical Center and have offered for my wife and I to come out and live with them. Catchment system and all. I mean, he even looks just like you. haha! I have some money saved but no job. In a few months, we are going to give it a shot and see what happens. Thanks for your information. It helps. Hopefully I'll run into you one of these days.
Love da vids brah! I'm a musician and will likely play in a band or solo uke thing when I move over there. Do you know what the music scene is like there these days? I know the nightlife shuts down rather early. Just wondered if you come across people that play. Mahalos.
Hey there. Just found your channel. My husband and I currently live in Kailua Oahu. I want to buy property after we are done with our graduate degrees (he wants to move back due to the cost of living). But I heard the big island was much more affordable. Also, it is so crowded here in Oahu. Kailua/Waimanalo area is what I enjoy in Oahu. So I was thinking I would enjoy the Kona area on the big island. The housing is expensive there as comparable to Kailua which does not surprise me. However, what does the job outlook look like? We would not mind to travel. In particular what does the job outlook look like for Psychologist and Acupuncturists on the island if you know perhaps??!?! Thank you JJ. Best wishes. TK
I'm gonna be 30 in less than 6 months and the funk is hitting me hard. My girlfriend and I are seriously looking into moving to Hawaii and your videos have been very helpful. So far, The Big Island looks promising. I don't want to live in constant rain and I want to be close to a good beach for surfing. Any suggestions?
I’ve been wanting to travel to the big island, went to Oahu in early 2000s, left Houston Tx and felt I landed in uptown Houston TX with a a beach, not really what I wanted but made the best out of it traveling away from that area. Can one travel to the big Island rent a van and do free overnight parking at the beaches or national parks, or is overnight parking not allowed, ? I would like to do that on my next visit. Thanks
Hey, Jeff, I love the videos! I may be moving to Lihue, Kauai for work and I was wondering if you could tell me your impressions of Lihue. I am from Maine so it will be a HUGE change but much like your younger self I seem to be in a funk and I fully welcome the change. Thank you in advance!
Hmmm. Do you know anyone there, do you have a job? Lihue is small town like. If you like that. It doesn't rain as much as Hanalei. Local vibe there. I would get bored there after a few months probably.
JJ CROOKS I currently do not know anyone there, I would be working at the airport once I arrived. I enjoy the small town atmosphere, so I don't believe that would be an issue unless I'm ill received.
Heart's Will Be Done good question. As a westerner I saw it through a lens of a foreigner. Thai people are Buddhist. They have a deep history and beautiful friendly culture. I have not traveled out to the villages. I would say for the foreigners hedonism applies.
Sure would be nice if you'd answer the questions people submit to you. Love your honest, down to earth points of view, but people sometimes have questions...
you're funny you mention being in a funk and soon as you mention Thailand you got all cheery would love to go there someday or heard the food's really good a massage would be nice too maybe I should tell my wife I'm in a funk
Lol i got a room in Kailua for $800/mo plus deposit. I find if you tell people your plans (intent to work) and show you saved and are pleasent theyll rent to you.
dude. Ive watched probably 10 of your videos today... you have great info and helpful stuff, but you talk so slow and drawn out and it makes me anxious as hell trying to listen.... you should try doing these in a different and intersting location, and maybe considering doing some editing and cutting the pauses out so its more fast paced

Is it hedonist in Thailand for most of the locals or is it that way just for the bar girls and westerners?
Heart's Will Be Done good question. As a westerner I saw it through a lens of a foreigner. Thai people are Buddhist. They have a deep history and beautiful friendly culture. I have not traveled out to the villages. I would say for the foreigners hedonism applies.
Got some questions about what you do online. How can I best get a hold of you?
What is your question?
