How is Vog in Ocean View? I sold my three acres there for the same price I paid, to a tourist. Until the Vog came, I had a perfect view of the South Point. That was 10 years ago now. I only left because I got old, 80. I dove commercially for tropical fish, and did very well, for years. I imagine that type of diving is a thing of the past? The forces that be, were trying hard to shut it down years ago. Overall it was the best 20 years of my life. Traveling between diving spots, I nearly always caught dinner, a Ono (Wahoo), or Yellow Fin tuna, or a Mahi-mahi, maybe a Skip Jack tuna, all would “Broke the Mouth” Bro!!
Thought I would toss in here that with Kilauea eruption the air quality was a problem. With the cessation of lava the air has returned to the stunning gorgeous clear Skies and famous sunsets before the Vog thing happened.
The Red Rover the air was horrible in Kona/Waikaloa area for months. Everyone told me I would never get bad air as it won’t make over Mana Loa....they were very wrong. Had to fly off the island to months. Then air was better once again.
Wow Jeff you are so easy to watch and listen to you gotta know what a huge influence u have in my life and Ian sure many others! Don't worry I won't blame you if I make a bad choice when I finish my homework with you! I plan to sell my home and a little bit of land that I call paradise here in mid MO. For tropical paradise in Kona Hawaii that I so much want to be a part of ! Wow I know you say many haters are around there but I feel the love has to be stronger! I and hope for good neighbors around me as I do land in paradise. Thank you so much for all your knowledge on Hawaii.
I owned in Waikaloa & Waimea...after the last Volcano 🌋 I sold. Couldn’t see 15 feet away..and many had respiratory issues. I worried about resale and health. I’m home sick for my Hawaii..coming back in November. Let’s see what’s a good place to settle. Oahu or Maui ? Talk about Hawi...the hippie capitol of Hawaii...love that place.
I love Kona side. One thing I'd add to this is to AVOID TWO STEP when the cruise ships are in. A very nice calm, beautiful place one day turns into a madhouse when the floating cities are docked. Also while there, be mindful of where you step! Vauna are everywhere and can be very painful.
Hey Jeff. I have to agree with you about the divers, and the blame is on the training. I am a technical dive instructor/rebreather cave diver living in Okinawa, training the military, and I teach my students to touch nothing under water. They are trained to be streamlined, and to have complete control of their bodies and equipment. Unfortunately, most recreational organizations, especially PADI, do very quick certification training (my courses are 5-8 days long with the emphasis on hovering, trim, buoyancy, and therefore, not affecting the environment at all) and poorly trained divers have contributed to the death of the coral here as well. I will be visiting Kona in July, and hope to see vibrant sea life and coral reefs. Thanks for your video! See you in July...
Thanks for the advice on kona., I am actually choosing kona over oahu, I am looking to build a life there not really a vacation, and other advice would be appreciated, 🤙
Can anyone tell me which area is least likely to have power outages. And which area provides the most reliable and best internet. Im thinking this may be Kilua Kona. Basicly I work remote so my life depends on good Internet.
cool videos man, I was talking to my girlfriend, and we have been to hawaii before, and we are thinking about moving there in the furture. I live in San Diego, I am trying to get a degree in marketing. I also work on cars part time so I was planning on learning how to work on cars, and boats. Any tips on were to look for affordable property planning on saving up around 120k or 250k.

Lightning storms?
I've seen and heard some quite remarkable audio and visual effects courtesy of Mother Nature.
Does the Hilo side get electrical storms?
Hi Jeff, what is the best way to contact you with questions about Hawaii? Thanks.

You can get incredible land on the big island with that kind of Budget. I would say take a look at Hamakua Coast or Kohala Coast (Hawi).
Those look like areas that are relatively low for volcanic activity. Low crime as well?
